First tonight, a man has been charged after a supermarket

Police were called to the Tesco store in Ilkeston on Friday night,

after reports that a man was holding a knife and threatening

No-one was injured during the incident.

The 48-year-old has been remanded into custody.

For many, Christmas and New Year is a time for indulgence -

but it can also be difficult for those living with very little.

Now, a project in Nottinghamshire's hoping to build a network

of fresh food banks, which will educate young

people about how they can help those in need.

In the very cold garden at Edwalton Primary School,

pupils are working hard on the fruits of their labour.

We come and grow plants, and vegetables.

We harvest them, and send them to the drop-in centre

The Food Share Project trains young people to grow food and share

The trouble is that with most traditional food banks

you don't get fresh food, so Food Share was set up

to really address that gap, and at the same time to enable

children to really learn and understand about really

It's really important that they know that not everyone can

just nip to Asda and get whatever they want to eat.

The only good meal that they'll get is what they've been donated.

And from carrots to cabbage, the children love being part of this

The best thing I have learned is like, how big

It's really good because we have a home and enough food

It feels really nice because I know that I'm giving

The project's already spread to other schools,

and with the help of crowdfunding, it's hoped the scheme will grow

Next tonight, open air swimming may not be YOUR cup

of tea on New Year's Day, but it's clearly

Almost 300 people - twice as many as last year -

took part in the annual dip at an outdoor pool

You need to plunge in if you're intending to swim at the Lido

For some people, the 10 degree water temperature was still too cold,

despite it being three times warmer than the air.

This is the fourth year the parish council's opened the pool

on January the 1st - and it is clearly a hit.

I can't quite believe how many people we've had

I mean, last year we had 150, and we'd already had 80

Abd if you think that your intrepid reporter is crazy enough to get

in there with them - I'm sorry, but I'm not

It wasn't my idea, it seems ridiculous now.

My sister wanted to do it, so I kind of just came with her.

a New Year, new you - "Get in one end of the water,

come out a new man", she said, but...

There's some crazy people in bikinis there.

You only come for a small amount of time, so I thought it would be

a great start to the New Year and I persuaded my friend to come

in as well, but she did two lengths and got out.

With warming beverages on hand, this year's swim attracted 284 people,

twice last year's total, and they hope to beat

In sport, the Leicester Tigers played Saracens at Welford Road

in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon.

But it was one to forget for the Tigers, I'm afraid.

It finished Leicester Tigers 12, Saracens 16.

Well, after all the wet weather that we saw earlier on today we do

have some more settled weather on the horizon, thanks to this area

of high pressure that's starting to build in.

As we have a look at the detail overnight tonight we've still got

just a few showers in places, but mostly dry as we go

into the early hours; the chance of those being a little wintry over

higher ground, with lows of 1 degree Celsius.

So we're expecting a frosty start tomorrow morning.

Variable amounts of cloud throughout the day but some decent

bright and sunny spells, but if you are out and

about do wrap up warm - we're only expecting highs of around

clearing from the south-east. These specks of white as snow mixed in

with showers across parts of northern England, particularly

across Scotland, low levels here. I say that they hazard in northern and

eastern areas. I would not rule out slippery areas almost anywhere by

the morning, by which time temperatures will be close to or
