With your news now for the East Midlands, I'm Maurice Flynn.

:00:14.:00:17.

In business it's said that bad news is usually good news -

:00:18.:00:20.

And for a Derbyshire printing firm avian flu has seen

:00:21.:00:25.

The company prints labels for egg boxes

:00:26.:00:30.

But with the flu threat, and hens being kept inside,

:00:31.:00:34.

they're now making emergency labels - millions of them.

:00:35.:00:36.

It is the threat of avian flu striking British flocks that has led

:00:37.:00:42.

to hens being shut in netted enclosures or even kept

:00:43.:00:44.

It has meant free-range egg producers now have to mark every egg

:00:45.:00:50.

box with a label to say the eggs are not at the moment free range.

:00:51.:00:57.

Someone has to produce those labels, and Positive ID Labelling

:00:58.:00:59.

Something in excess of three million.

:01:00.:01:05.

It started off very slowly with lots of phone calls

:01:06.:01:14.

from the customers, and once the momentum built we had

:01:15.:01:16.

great difficulty in keeping up with the level of orders that

:01:17.:01:19.

Positive ID already make the egg box labels for dozens of small

:01:20.:01:23.

EU regulations say once their birds are inside for 12 weeks

:01:24.:01:26.

Ironically it is good for your business?

:01:27.:01:29.

If it comes on like that, if it stays at current levels,

:01:30.:01:33.

we will be manufacturing something in excess of 10 million

:01:34.:01:36.

Yeah, good short-term business for us.

:01:37.:01:39.

Defra says that although restrictions on hens going outside

:01:40.:01:45.

in low-risk areas have now eased, they are still expecting some

:01:46.:01:47.

bio-security regulations to be in place until at least

:01:48.:01:50.

James Roberson, BBC East Midlands Today, Derbyshire.

:01:51.:01:55.

The M1 was closed for a time last night, amid fears a passenger

:01:56.:01:58.

East Midlands Airport says a flight from Gran Canaria had

:01:59.:02:02.

warned them of a suspected malfunction.

:02:03.:02:06.

Police closed the motorway in both directions betwen junction 23a

:02:07.:02:09.

The plane landed safely minutes later and the motorway reopened.

:02:10.:02:14.

There was a rally in Loughborough earlier to show support for those

:02:15.:02:17.

Among those speaking to the crowd was Loughborough MP Nicky Morgan.

:02:18.:02:28.

Organisers say they fear the plight being faced by millions

:02:29.:02:30.

risks being overlooked because the conflict

:02:31.:02:31.

Because the Syrian war has been going on for over six years, a lot

:02:32.:02:36.

of people within the UK have been turned off.

:02:37.:02:39.

What we do here has tremendous impact in other parts of

:02:40.:02:44.

the world, whether it's financially, whether it's politically, through

:02:45.:02:46.

various different means we can make that difference, and it's that

:02:47.:02:49.

ripple effect, the small things we do here have massive consequences

:02:50.:02:52.

A choir that hit the headlines with their gospel chants

:02:53.:02:56.

for Leicester City have been recording their very

:02:57.:02:58.

And as Amy Harris reports, they had help from some big

:02:59.:03:02.

Their voices sent spirits soaring during Leicester City's

:03:03.:03:15.

Premier League campaign, but there is much more

:03:16.:03:20.

to the De Montford University gospel choir than covering football chants,

:03:21.:03:22.

and today they are recording an album to prove it.

:03:23.:03:26.

One thing we always wanted to do was to get a CD together.

:03:27.:03:32.

For years we were never able to, so it is very, very exciting.

:03:33.:03:39.

And they have got the backing of some big industry names.

:03:40.:03:45.

John Illsley from Dire Straits and Tom Allom, who has produced

:03:46.:03:48.

tracks for the heavy metal band Judas Priest.

:03:49.:03:50.

Hopefully I will be able to bring that

:03:51.:04:02.

knowledge to this lovely choir and help them come out of it

:04:03.:04:05.

The album will not only make money for the choir's new church,

:04:06.:04:09.

For these singers, this really is a happy day.

:04:10.:04:12.

The showers continue as we head through the overnight period.

:04:13.:04:19.

We could see a dusting of snow over higher ground but gradually

:04:20.:04:24.

the showers are going to diminish as we head through the night.

:04:25.:04:26.

There will be a few clear skies to be had as well.

:04:27.:04:29.

Temperatures under the clear skies down to around three Celsius.

:04:30.:04:32.

For Monday morning it will be a fairly cold start

:04:33.:04:34.

to the day but it should be quite decent actually.

:04:35.:04:37.

We should see some spells of sunshine.

:04:38.:04:39.

There will be one or two showers in the forecast, yes.

:04:40.:04:41.

Some of those could be slow-moving but if you can manage to dodge them

:04:42.:04:45.

temperatures of around nine Celsius won't feel too bad in the sunshine.

:04:46.:04:48.

For the rest of the week, plenty of dry weather to be had,

:04:49.:04:51.

cloudy on Tuesday, highs of 11 degrees by midweek.

:04:52.:04:59.

Hannah will have your updates in BBC Breakfast tomorrow morning.

:05:00.:05:03.
