With your news now for the East Midlands, I'm Maurice Flynn. | :00:11. | :00:12.
Two heritage giants were rolled into one today, | :00:13. | :00:14.
as a train was named after a plane - the Vulcan bomber. | :00:15. | :00:18.
Although the Vulcan is now mothballed in retirement, | :00:19. | :00:21.
the last flying one was restored to air-worthiness at Bruntingthorpe. | :00:22. | :00:24.
Today one of its pilots was at the Great Central Railway | :00:25. | :00:27.
for the unveiling of the new Vulcan Express. | :00:28. | :00:34.
When I was invited along, I thought I would be coming along | :00:35. | :00:37.
just to do a few photographs and be involved in naming the train, | :00:38. | :00:40.
and I was over the moon when someone said, actually, | :00:41. | :00:43.
you're going to be right on the footplate. | :00:44. | :00:44.
When I flew over this particular train two years ago, | :00:45. | :00:47.
at the time it was just an event we were asked to do, | :00:48. | :00:50.
and I had no idea there would be a collaboration between the Vulcan | :00:51. | :00:53.
and the steam train, and that the steam train | :00:54. | :00:55.
would eventually be renamed the Vulcan Express, so it's a real | :00:56. | :00:58.
honour to be here and be involved in that today. | :00:59. | :01:03.
All small boys always dream of driving steam trains, | :01:04. | :01:05.
I am used to flying a vintage aircraft, | :01:06. | :01:12.
with '40s or '50s technology, and this is similar. | :01:13. | :01:15.
It's obviously from that kind of era. | :01:16. | :01:19.
It's quite different to flying an aircraft, | :01:20. | :01:21.
The experience was out of this world. | :01:22. | :01:26.
The train is obviously a vintage, British-built piece of machinery - | :01:27. | :01:31.
a little bit like the Vulcan, British-built. | :01:32. | :01:33.
But it was a real experience to witness and see it being driven, | :01:34. | :01:36.
These steam trains, and also hopefully the Vulcan in the future, | :01:37. | :01:43.
It is obviously important for all children in future | :01:44. | :01:47.
generations to be able to come along and see and understand a little | :01:48. | :01:50.
Police investigating reports of a gun being fired in Nottingham | :01:51. | :01:57.
It's after officers were called on Tuesday to Overdale Road, | :01:58. | :02:02.
where a man in his 20s had suffered an injury. | :02:03. | :02:05.
A 24-year-old man's been arrested today on suspicion | :02:06. | :02:07.
Two women, and another man arrested previously, have been bailed | :02:08. | :02:13.
Efforts have been made to revive one of the country's oldest | :02:14. | :02:19.
It's thought to be the third-oldest in England. | :02:20. | :02:23.
Those who run it are trying to emulate the success | :02:24. | :02:26.
of Loughborough, which was voted Market of the Year. | :02:27. | :02:30.
In the first phase of changes, they've altered the market's layout | :02:31. | :02:32.
and invested in modern gazebos to better protect stallholders | :02:33. | :02:35.
It's not going to be life-changing, but it's a more pleasant appearance | :02:36. | :02:43.
and it's a brighter look for the marketplace. | :02:44. | :02:48.
I think, over the years, different markets have set up in the town, | :02:49. | :02:52.
and certainly the cattle market and other places, and it's become | :02:53. | :02:54.
Some of the old stalls were getting a bit corroded, | :02:55. | :03:03.
and they looked a bit untidy, but these look nice and fresh | :03:04. | :03:06.
Sport, and in football, just one result for you today. | :03:07. | :03:15.
It's in the Premier League, where Leicester City drew | :03:16. | :03:17.
And Leicester Tigers were playing at home in this | :03:18. | :03:22.
Let's check the weather now for the weekend and bank holiday. | :03:23. | :03:29.
Today and Easter Monday looking like better bets for the drier | :03:30. | :03:34.
On the way tomorrow, we've got some rain, | :03:35. | :03:37.
courtesy of this waving front, making its way across from | :03:38. | :03:40.
west to east as we move through the day tomorrow. | :03:41. | :03:42.
First of all, though, some late spells of sunshine | :03:43. | :03:44.
We'll see that cloud begin to thicken up | :03:45. | :03:48.
from the west as we move through the night tonight. | :03:49. | :03:51.
Most of us seeing a dry night, with just the chance of one | :03:52. | :03:54.
Overnight lows between five and seven Celsius. | :03:55. | :03:57.
Slightly cooler, though, if you are out in the countryside. | :03:58. | :03:59.
And then into tomorrow we see the arrival of that waving front, | :04:00. | :04:02.
bringing outbreaks of rain through much of the day, | :04:03. | :04:04.
and that will be quite heavy at points as we move | :04:05. | :04:07.
The exact timing is slightly uncertain, | :04:08. | :04:09.
with a maximum of 12 Celsius and a north-westerly breeze. | :04:10. | :04:13.
Into Easter Monday, then, and it's a return to something | :04:14. | :04:16.
Some sunny spells and still the risk of seeing one | :04:17. | :04:19.
That's how the rest of your Easter weekend is looking. | :04:20. | :04:23.
It will be fairly chilly and there will be some outbreaks of rain, | :04:24. | :04:27.
but some drier weather again by the time we get to Monday. | :04:28. | :04:30.
which is live already on your local BBC radio station: | :04:31. | :04:34.
There's new boy band "Yes Lad" - they're in session. | :04:35. | :04:36.
Plus, Derby soul singer Lauren Faith, | :04:37. | :04:37.
and Derby's Kezia Gill explains how she's taking | :04:38. | :04:39.
And Leicester rock band Super73 are launching their new single. | :04:40. | :04:45.
So a packed Easter show, on until 10pm. | :04:46. | :04:49.
More from me and the team here tomorrow at 6.50pm. | :04:50. | :04:52.
Until then, enjoy your Easter Saturday. | :04:53. | :05:12.
Good evening. These and but not spectacular is probably a neat way | :05:13. | :05:18.
to describe the weather this Easter weekend. -- decent but not | :05:19. | :05:22.
spectacular. A bit of sunshine, patchy cloud and showers today, but | :05:23. | :05:27.
as we can see from the satellite and radar, the showers are easing, cloud | :05:28. | :05:31.
melting away, so a decent evening if you are heading out. Once it gets | :05:32. | :05:36.
dark, it will be chilly, cold enough for a touch of | :05:37. | :05:38. |
