who says there must be tighter

regulation of the industry.

Welcome to the programme

this Monday evening.

0:01:020:01:06

BBC London has learned that

a powerful drug to treat epilepsy

0:01:060:01:10

could harm families for generations

- according to a new study.

0:01:100:01:13

Sodium valproate has been used

to treat epilepsy since the 1970s.

0:01:130:01:22

But thousands of pregnant women say

they weren't warned of the risks

0:01:220:01:25

of severe birth defects including

brain damage and spina bifida.

0:01:250:01:27

They're calling on the government

for compensation to help

0:01:270:01:29

care for their families.

0:01:290:01:30

Tarah Welsh has this special report.

0:01:300:01:35

You are going to swallow it. It is

horrible.

Bridget is 19 but she is

0:01:350:01:41

cared for at home by her mum Karen.

When pregnant, she was prescribed a

0:01:410:01:47

high dosage of the drug sodium

valproate. She has epilepsy and the

0:01:470:01:52

pills were meant to control the

seizures but the powerful chemicals

0:01:520:01:56

that protected her health damaged

her daughter's.

I popped these

0:01:560:02:01

tablets into my system, six months

down the line and turned round and

0:02:010:02:05

say to me... What do you want to do?

You want to have an abortion, you

0:02:050:02:11

are carrying a spina bifida baby.

Like many other women Karen had no

0:02:110:02:16

idea it was linked to her

medication, now 20,000 children in

0:02:160:02:20

the UK are believed to have foetal

valproate syndrome.

These children

0:02:200:02:32

have an increased risk of cleft

incleft palate and they are more

0:02:320:02:37

prone to spina bifida, or other

defects.

The risk of taking the drug

0:02:370:02:44

in pregnancy have been known since

the 70, the Government regulates

0:02:440:02:48

what information is given to

patients and it chose not to reveal

0:02:480:02:51

this. But in a statement it told us

that at the time, according to

0:02:510:02:56

clinical practise, it was for the

doctor to decide how much

0:02:560:03:00

information a patient was given

about their medicine. Since then,

0:03:000:03:04

the need for patients to be fully

informed about their medication has

0:03:040:03:08

been under pinned by legislation.

Yet many women say they still are

0:03:080:03:12

not aware of the risk, particularly

alarming in light of new findings.

0:03:120:03:17

While researching this film we spoke

to several families who suspect that

0:03:170:03:22

sodium valproate is somehow not just

harming their children, but their

0:03:220:03:28

guardian children too, until know

those suspicions have not been

0:03:280:03:33

deemed credible. We have got the

result of a major project in South

0:03:330:03:37

Korea which supports the idea that

the drug can harm successive

0:03:370:03:41

generations. The study found

autistic-like behaviour in the

0:03:410:03:47

grandchildren and great

grandchildren of mice that were

0:03:470:03:50

injected with sodium valproate while

pregnant.

That was the first bit of

0:03:500:03:54

evidence we had, in any species that

this could be carried on, this is

0:03:540:03:58

something now that needs to be

looked at as quickly as possible to

0:03:580:04:02

give families reassurance.

Three generations of one family.

0:04:020:04:07

They believe the drug has affected

them all. Sue was prescribed it

0:04:070:04:14

decades ago, her daughters have the

syndrome. Although they didn't take

0:04:140:04:20

the drug in pregnancy they believe

their children have inherited the

0:04:200:04:22

condition.

I do think my grand kids

have been affected by it. I have had

0:04:220:04:28

my wore Iry with them growing up. I

have it again with my grand kids,

0:04:280:04:31

how long is it going to go on for?

It is not fair, it is not fair, it

0:04:310:04:36

is so wrong. So many people's lives

have been affected and ruined.

0:04:360:04:41

Campaigners want the Government to

pay compensation and they believe

0:04:410:04:45

this new evidence makes their case

for support even stronger.

We are in

0:04:450:04:52

a good dialogue, the minister

appears to have taken this very

0:04:520:04:56

seriously, is willing to engage with

us, he appears to be completely

0:04:560:05:02

conscious of the need to stop this

scandal continuing.

0:05:020:05:06

But it could be too late for

Bridget, her health is deteriorating

0:05:060:05:11

and she could have only months left,

after a life of suffering, caused by

0:05:110:05:15

something that was supposed to keep

her mother alive.

0:05:150:05:18

something that was supposed

to keep her mother alive.

0:05:180:05:20

And Tarah's here now.

0:05:200:05:22

This is one study, to clarify.

That

is right. But the authors of the

0:05:220:05:27

report believe showing the condition

can be passed through generations in

0:05:270:05:31

mice, it could give us a clue the

same thing could be happening in

0:05:310:05:35

humans, but very early days and lots

more research needs to be done on

0:05:350:05:39

this.

And decades on, is there any

sense of what these families can

0:05:390:05:44

expect in terms of support, or

compensation?

Well, this has

0:05:440:05:49

affected families across the world

and in France the Government is

0:05:490:05:53

supporting legal action being taken

by families, and they have put aside

0:05:530:05:57

millions of pounds to compensate

them. Here, in 2010, families had to

0:05:570:06:02

abandon a court case against the

drug company when their legal aid

0:06:020:06:06

was withdrawn three weekses before

the case was due to begin. They

0:06:060:06:11

signed letters promising never to

sue again and weren't billed for the

0:06:110:06:16

legal cost, but recently, the

Department of Health has started

0:06:160:06:21

conversations with MPs and

campaigners, who want a public

0:06:210:06:25

inquiry, so the families believe

that there may be some hope in

0:06:250:06:30

future, anyone with concerns about

their medication should speak to

0:06:300:06:33

their doctor before making any

changes at all.

Thank you for that.

0:06:330:06:39

That is Tara Welsh

0:06:390:06:43

That

0:06:430:06:44

And you can see Tarah's full report

in an Inside Out London special.

0:06:440:06:47

That's tonight at 7.30

here on BBC One.

0:06:470:06:49

You're watching BBC London News,

plenty more ahead including...

0:06:490:06:51

The Met's latest weapon to help

crack down on motorists

0:06:510:06:53

using mobiles behind the wheel.

0:06:530:06:59

A model who claims she was raped

as a young woman is calling

0:06:590:07:03

for greater regulation to protect

others in the industry

0:07:030:07:04

from sexual exploitation.

0:07:040:07:08

Dunja Knezevic says

she was sexually assaulted

0:07:080:07:10

while on an assignment

as a teenager, but was

0:07:100:07:12

told not to report it.

0:07:120:07:13

Now following a number of high

profile allegations, she's speaking

0:07:130:07:16

out in the hope other victims

will come forward.

0:07:160:07:18

Victoria Cook reports.

0:07:180:07:24

Dunja Knezevic started

modelling succesfully at 17.

0:07:240:07:26

She was excited about the future.

0:07:260:07:29

At 19 years old that all changed.

0:07:290:07:32

Dunja was raped by someone

high up in the industry.

0:07:320:07:36

there, you

Everybody told me to shut

up about it. All the friends, fellow

0:07:360:07:43

model, agencies, they didn't want to

look at me, they didn't want to

0:07:430:07:45

acknowledge that that had happened,

told me not to talk about it.

0:07:450:07:52

And to just move on because it would

only be detrimental to me. Testify

0:07:520:07:58

Testify

0:07:580:07:59

It wasn't until later that Dunja

0:07:590:08:01

realised that she wasn't alone.

0:08:010:08:02

Other models were sharing stories

of sexual exploitation.

0:08:020:08:04

She then turned her focus

into starting the first

0:08:040:08:06

models trade union.

0:08:060:08:09

Everybody kept saying to me you

should just leave, I said no, I love

0:08:090:08:15

the fashion industry, I love

fashion. So that is why I am

0:08:150:08:18

sticking around.

0:08:180:08:20

Ten years later and the industry

is now under a spotlight again.

0:08:200:08:29

When you are there this that

environment, models often feel like

0:08:290:08:34

their voice is not welcome, the last

voice anybody would want to hear,

0:08:340:08:38

that has to change, you know, we

want to see a culture where there

0:08:380:08:44

aren't bystanders any more. With

recent allegation of sexual

0:08:440:08:48

exploitation in the industry the

media is under the spotlight.

0:08:480:08:52

Questions are being asked as to how

safe models are at work. Some high

0:08:520:08:57

profile agencies have signed up to a

code of standards. I think it is

0:08:570:09:01

difficult for a model to say no on a

shoot, the model doesn't have to

0:09:010:09:04

make a big scene, they tell us, if

we are to happy with the situation

0:09:040:09:08

we deal with it. And if that client

is trying to get them to do

0:09:080:09:13

something without it having been

approved by us, then, they are the

0:09:130:09:17

ones in the wrong, if they say they

won't want to work with that model

0:09:170:09:22

Genk we won't work with them.

There

are plenty agencies that don't take

0:09:220:09:26

that approach. The industry is

largely unregulated. Anyone can set

0:09:260:09:31

up an agency, there is calls for the

Government to step in and introduce

0:09:310:09:36

stricter rules to keep models safe.

0:09:360:09:40

Doctors who want to stop life

support treatment for an 11 month

0:09:400:09:43

old boy at the centre

of a High Court battle say it's

0:09:430:09:46

"futile, burdensome and not

in his best interests".

0:09:460:09:48

Specialists at King's College

Hospital today told the court that

0:09:480:09:50

Isaiah Haastrup suffered

catastrophic brain damage

0:09:500:09:52

after being deprived

of oxygen at birth -

0:09:520:09:53

and does not respond to stimulation.

0:09:540:09:55

Isaiah's parents have brought

the private trial and want

0:09:550:09:57

treatment to continue.

0:09:570:09:58

His mother says he does

respond to her touch.

0:09:580:10:08

Scotland Yard has suspended forcible

searches of suspects' mouths.

0:10:110:10:13

The force took the step

after investigators looking

0:10:130:10:15

into the the death of Rashan Charles

warned officers were being given

0:10:150:10:18

"conflicting advice" about searching

individuals suspected of placing

0:10:180:10:20

packages in their mouths.

0:10:200:10:21

Tolu Adeoye is at Scotland Yard

for us now with the details.

0:10:210:10:30

Yes, rashen Charles died in July

last year after he was followed into

0:10:300:10:34

a shop by police officers is and

detained in Hackney, a package was

0:10:340:10:39

discovered in his throat, and it was

during investigations into the

0:10:390:10:44

circumstances surrounding his death

that the independent office for

0:10:440:10:47

police conduct said conflicting

advice was identified regarding

0:10:470:10:51

mouth search, so some advice said it

was never appropriate to use force

0:10:510:10:56

to search one who may have something

in their mouth due the risk of

0:10:560:11:01

choking, other advice said it may be

appropriate, why this guidance is

0:11:010:11:05

being reviewed the Metropolitan

Police have taken the decision to

0:11:050:11:09

suspend all mouth searches.

Yesterday, we learned the officer

0:11:090:11:13

involved in restraining Rashan

Charles will face no charges, have

0:11:130:11:16

we heard from the family?

Yes, Mr

Charles's family say they do not

0:11:160:11:21

understand that decision by the CPS.

They say they want the officer to

0:11:210:11:27

face a full criminal trial. They

said we are aware concerns have been

0:11:270:11:32

raised about police train on

0:11:320:11:33

is We have had more information

about the postmortem examination

0:11:410:11:46

into the death. Results have shown a

sudden cardiac arrest was brought on

0:11:460:11:53

by a blocked upper airway, there was

no other significant injuries that

0:11:530:11:58

would suggest prolong of excessive

restraint. Investigations are very

0:11:580:12:02

much continuing into the

circumstances of the death and an

0:12:020:12:05

inquest is due to take place in

June.

0:12:050:12:07

Thank you.

0:12:070:12:08

Thank you.

0:12:080:12:10

The board of deputies of British

Jews is demanding a senior coroner

0:12:100:12:13

be removed from her post

for refusing to prioritise

0:12:130:12:15

Jewish burials.

0:12:150:12:16

It's after a meeting

with her to discuss their concerns

0:12:160:12:19

ended without ageeement.

0:12:190:12:20

Today the Mayor of London got

involved saying the "legitimate

0:12:200:12:22

concerns" of Jewish and Muslim

communities need to be met.

0:12:220:12:25

Here's our political

editor Tim Donovan.

0:12:250:12:34

A ceremony at City Hall to mark

Holocaust Memorial Day and he has

0:12:350:12:40

found himself drawn into a row

affecting Jewish and Muslim people

0:12:400:12:43

in London.

One part of the capital to be exact

0:12:430:12:50

because the senior inner north

London coroner refused to go along

0:12:500:12:53

with demands to fast track burials

for these communities and a meeting

0:12:530:12:58

with her on Friday apparently

brought little progress.

It is a

0:12:580:13:02

practise in the Jewish religion to

bury as soon as possible, what we

0:13:020:13:05

need for that to happen is the

coroners to be available, including

0:13:050:13:10

out of hours, to be able to register

deaths and to be able to pass the

0:13:100:13:14

body on for burial, and everywhere

else people seem to be able to do

0:13:140:13:18

it. She is refewing to provide a

service, she is holding up

0:13:180:13:23

unnecessary delays as far as we can

see.

The board is demanding she is

0:13:230:13:30

sacked

The Lord Chancellor and the

Lord Chief Justice have the power to

0:13:300:13:34

dismiss a coroner, that process is

being initiated and we will write to

0:13:340:13:37

make them aware of her concerns and

ask them to act in this case.

0:13:370:13:45

The mayor said today that legitimate

concerns had been raised and he was

0:13:450:13:49

waiting for answers.

I understand

completely the sensitivities of this

0:13:490:13:55

issue, I understand how distressing

it is to lose a loved one. If you

0:13:550:14:00

are a follower of the Jewish faith

or Islamic faith you believe it is

0:14:000:14:06

important to bury your loved one as

soon as possible. But coroners enjoy

0:14:060:14:12

significant powers and independence.

It is not clear how Government law

0:14:120:14:17

officers will respond.

We approached the Coroner's Office

0:14:170:14:23

for response but she has told the

BBC no death reported to her office

0:14:230:14:27

will be prioritised over any other,

because of the religion of the

0:14:270:14:30

deceased or family.

0:14:300:14:33

Next: how around 150 children's

centres in London have not been

0:14:330:14:35

inspected by Ofsted for more

than five years.

0:14:350:14:37

The Government temporarily suspended

inspections in 2015.

0:14:370:14:39

One charity says it's left tens

of thousands of parents -

0:14:390:14:41

with no idea of how good

their centre is.

0:14:410:14:44

Here's our education

reporter, Marc Ashdown.

0:14:440:14:54

For babies and toddler it is a

chance to play. For parents a chance

0:14:540:14:59

to socialise and get free support

from social workers. Two years ago

0:14:590:15:04

this woman lost her mother before

giving birth to her son.

If the

0:15:040:15:09

centres weren't here to help me and

my health visitor, I am not sure how

0:15:090:15:16

we would have coped. I don't think

we would have coped very well. These

0:15:160:15:20

centres are a lifeline.

There are

3,000 or so across England and like

0:15:200:15:26

schools Ofsted inspects themselves

for safety and quality. In 2015 the

0:15:260:15:31

Government decided to consult over

their futures and told inspectors to

0:15:310:15:35

stop inspecting. The charity Action

for Children says some haven't had

0:15:350:15:43

one. That is 40% of the total. In

that time con sills have

0:15:430:15:48

inininvested 1.4 billion in the

centres but it is not clear how well

0:15:480:15:51

that money has been spend. In London

about 150 centres are affected,

0:15:510:15:55

there are concerns over their

futures.

What it means of course is

0:15:550:15:59

a that with local authorities under

pressure for cash, if they aren't

0:15:590:16:04

inspected they are inadvice. It is

easier to close them.

It gives him a

0:16:040:16:10

chance to interweekend with other,

myself with others and get him

0:16:100:16:13

weighed and see how he is doing.

I

had postnatal depression with both

0:16:130:16:20

children so gives me something to

get out of the house and get her to

0:16:200:16:23

have. So company, we come here every

Monday, so if this went, I would

0:16:230:16:27

have nowhere to go.

Ofsted confirm the inspections are

0:16:270:16:34

still suspended by the Department

for Education said partial

0:16:340:16:38

inspections do still take place.

0:16:380:16:44

Coming up before seven o'clock...

Told she may never compete again

0:16:440:16:49

after shattering her knee, the

skater from Maidenhead now, Eric --

0:16:490:16:53

now competing for the Winter and

next month. -- Winter Olympics.

0:16:530:16:59

The Met Police has unveiled it's

latest weapon against motorists

0:16:590:17:02

who are determined to break the law.

0:17:020:17:03

Despite a ban on using phones

at the wheel in 2003,

0:17:030:17:06

and tougher penalties introduced

just last year, the number of people

0:17:060:17:09

using their mobiles to call,

text, and surf the net,

0:17:090:17:11

while driving are staggeringly high,

as Chris Rogers reports.

0:17:110:17:20

If you use your mobile phone today

while driving, you're one of

0:17:200:17:24

millions who do. And the

Metropolitan Police are determined

0:17:240:17:27

to catch you with this, a big truck.

So, let me show you inside the

0:17:270:17:35

truck, to show you just how clever

this all is and how it works. And

0:17:350:17:40

just to see how effective it is

going to be and to help me do that I

0:17:400:17:44

am joined by Inspector Alex

Burleson. Just climbing in here, the

0:17:440:17:50

vantage point is clearly what makes

it such a great weapon.

It allows us

0:17:500:17:55

to look into vehicles as we are

driving around and we can see what

0:17:550:17:59

drivers are doing. We have various

cameras fitted up around the

0:17:590:18:06

vehicle.

In fact, they caught a

couple of offenders on the way to

0:18:060:18:10

meet us.

This guy is on his mobile

phone. They have picked up taxing.

0:18:100:18:16

As you come across, you will see

that he has the phone in his hand

0:18:160:18:22

and he puts it back and our team in

the truck have signalled to motor

0:18:220:18:29

cyclists too, and do him.

Another

motorist was stopped for using her

0:18:290:18:33

laptop while driving. We are told it

is as is as dangerous as

0:18:330:18:38

drink-driving yet in 2016, 11

million of the UK's 30 million

0:18:380:18:43

drivers admit it and they are the

honest ones, to using their phone

0:18:430:18:47

while at the wheel. That survey

inspired a tougher penalty, a £200

0:18:470:18:52

fine and six points on your licence.

It seems it has had little effect.

0:18:520:18:57

Between March and August last year,

the Metropolitan Police said they

0:18:570:19:03

caught 8612 motorists using their

mobile phone while driving. And in a

0:19:030:19:08

survey by the RAC, 9.2 million

people are admitted to breaking the

0:19:080:19:13

law, despite the tougher penalties.

There has been a small effect in

0:19:130:19:19

terms of reductions, but clearly

this enforcement week, we want to

0:19:190:19:24

make sure that members of the

public, firstly, we prevent them

0:19:240:19:29

from using their mobile phone and if

they persist in doing so, then we

0:19:290:19:31

will take action.

Road charities and

organisations say the answer to

0:19:310:19:36

ending deaths and stopping serious

injuries lies in the phone itself.

0:19:360:19:40

There are calling on the industry to

include an opt out setting that

0:19:400:19:44

blocks messages and social media

when motorists are behind the wheel.

0:19:440:19:51

For now, road safety lies very much

in the hands of the law and our own

0:19:510:19:56

common sense. Chris Rogers, BBC

London News. In the last half an

0:19:560:20:02

hour, Manchester United have

confirmed the signing of Alexis

0:20:020:20:04

Sanchez. It is understood he joins

other three and a half year deal

0:20:040:20:10

with Mkhitaryan moving in the

opposite direction to join Arsenal.

0:20:100:20:14

He has been quoted as saying, I am

thrilled to be joining the biggest

0:20:140:20:17

club in the world.

0:20:170:20:20

18 months ago, British Ice Dancing

Champion Penny Coomes was told

0:20:200:20:22

what no athlete ever wants to hear -

that she might never compete again.

0:20:220:20:26

The skater from Maidenhead

shattered her knee during training.

0:20:260:20:28

But she defied the odds and is

heading to the Winter Olympics

0:20:280:20:31

in South Korea next month.

0:20:310:20:32

Sara Orchard has the story.

0:20:320:20:41

This is life in Michigan for Team

GB's number one ice dancing couple,

0:20:410:20:44

Maidenhead's Penny Coomes

and her partner Nick Buckland.

0:20:440:20:49

They moved to the States

to live just three minutes

0:20:490:20:51

from the rink where they train.

0:20:510:20:53

It was a big move and a big

change moving here,

0:20:530:21:00

because all of a sudden,

we are around other couples

0:21:000:21:02

that we compete against.

0:21:020:21:03

We are trading with our competitors,

so if anything, we make each other

0:21:030:21:06

better and stronger.

0:21:060:21:07

The pair have flown the flag

for a Team GB for the last two

0:21:070:21:11

Winter Olympics and have risen up

the world rankings, but in June,

0:21:110:21:14

2016, a third Olympic Games looked

like it would not happen.

0:21:140:21:16

I obliterated my kneecap.

0:21:160:21:17

LAUGHTER.

0:21:170:21:18

There is no other way to put it!

0:21:180:21:21

I messed it up, good and proper.

0:21:210:21:23

I had a fall in practice,

a freak accident and like that,

0:21:230:21:27

I am on the floor, with half

of my kneecap appear

0:21:270:21:36

I am on the floor, with half

of my kneecap up here

0:21:360:21:38

and the other half down there.

0:21:380:21:41

Penny had shattered her knee

in eight places and was told

0:21:410:21:44

she might not skate again,

but after surgery and extensive

0:21:440:21:47

rehab, she returned to competitive

action in August and they have

0:21:470:21:49

qualified for the Olympics.

0:21:490:21:50

We have come through so much,

but the best bit is

0:21:500:21:53

kind of yet to come.

0:21:530:21:55

It is just so emotional because,

this has always been my goal,

0:21:550:21:57

you know, when we first set out,

it was like, let's do three

0:21:570:22:01

Olympic Games and we wanted to be

the best at the next Olympics.

0:22:010:22:04

Being an Olympian is what I am most

proud of and the moments in my life

0:22:040:22:08

that I look back and love the most,

and so, I just want to take it

0:22:080:22:11

all in and just pat myself

on the back and the like,

0:22:110:22:15

yeah, I own this.

0:22:150:22:18

Sara Orchard, BBC London News.

0:22:180:22:22

It's an ambitious undertaking -

but one that will bring to life some

0:22:220:22:25

of the forgotten faces

of the First World War

0:22:250:22:27

and those who sacrificed

their life for our country.

0:22:270:22:30

The Imperial War Museum has teamed

up with the Oscar winning director

0:22:300:22:33

behind the Lord of the Rings trilogy

- using latest technology to restore

0:22:330:22:36

and colour original archive footage

100 years on from the end

0:22:360:22:38

of the conflict.

0:22:390:22:40

Emma North can tell us more.

0:22:400:22:45

The Battle of the Somme as we have

come to know it, grey,

0:22:480:22:51

grainy and very much a thing

of the past.

0:22:510:22:53

But what if it was treated using

technology used in feature films,

0:22:530:22:56

such as Lord of the Rings?

0:22:560:22:58

Well, that is exactly what the film

director Peter Jackson has done.

0:22:580:23:03

We are making a film

and we're making a film,

0:23:030:23:05

not the usual film that

you would expect of

0:23:050:23:07

the First World War,

but we are making a film that shows

0:23:070:23:10

us incredible footage

in which the faces of the men

0:23:100:23:12

are just jumping out at you.

0:23:120:23:19

Faces of the people come

to life in this film,

0:23:190:23:21

so human beings that were actually

there, that were thrust into this

0:23:210:23:24

extraordinary situation,

and it defined their lives

0:23:240:23:26

in many cases.

0:23:260:23:33

Peter Jackson has been

viewed and catalogued,

0:23:330:23:35

shot by shot, detail by detail,

hundreds of hours of footage.

0:23:350:23:37

He has also listened

to stories told by veterans.

0:23:370:23:40

The idea is a collaboration

between the 14-18 Now project

0:23:400:23:42

in which modern artists explore

the themes of the First World

0:23:420:23:45

War and the Imperial

War Museum in London.

0:23:450:23:49

He has got hundreds of hours worth

of material, some of it has

0:23:490:23:52

never been seen before,

in broadcast terms.

0:23:520:23:54

What he has actually done is he has

cast his net incredibly wide,

0:23:540:23:57

which means he is looking

at all the little details,

0:23:570:23:59

all the things that some

people might have missed,

0:23:590:24:01

he has actually driven down,

looking at everything in fine detail

0:24:010:24:04

and looking for some of the most

impressive, most potent,

0:24:040:24:06

most powerful shots that him

and his team can work with.

0:24:060:24:13

Peter Jackson's project places

history in the hands of a master

0:24:130:24:16

storyteller from cinema.

0:24:160:24:17

It is hoped it will make

a connection with the generation

0:24:170:24:19

of people who either do not know

very much about black-and-white

0:24:190:24:22

films like this or no longer care.

0:24:220:24:26

We have found that most young

people now don't watch

0:24:260:24:28

black-and-white films.

0:24:280:24:29

It is something that they don't

completely understand,

0:24:290:24:31

they don't love the feel of it

in the way that previous

0:24:310:24:34

generations have.

0:24:340:24:39

Each frame is now being coloured.

0:24:390:24:40

The end product of the 30 minute

long film will be shown

0:24:400:24:43

in the autumn in London.

0:24:430:24:44

Emma North, BBC News.

0:24:440:24:45

Let's see how the weather's

shaping up this week -

0:24:500:24:53

and Phil Avery is here.

0:24:530:24:53

A change from the weekend. It

certainly was I knew were not

0:25:000:25:04

impressed. It was very miserable.

Thankfully there has been a bit of

0:25:040:25:13

blue sky and even I saw it as my

mood is pretty up and I am focusing

0:25:130:25:18

on the river. As were our weather

watchers and why not? It looks

0:25:180:25:23

magnificent with the blue sky. There

was some cloud, but many of us will

0:25:230:25:30

have stayed dry. Can we keep that

going? Yes we can. I don't think

0:25:300:25:35

there will be much breeze, really

pleasant conditions if you are out

0:25:350:25:38

and about. The cloud will move on

from the West as we get into Bill

0:25:380:25:43

wee small hours but many of us will

stay dry and it will not be a cold

0:25:430:25:47

night, you will not be scraping the

car on Tuesday morning, between 6-8

0:25:470:25:53

and then the rain comes. If you're

up early enough and see a dry

0:25:530:25:58

stored, do not bank on it for the

rush-hour, it is dry and brighten up

0:25:580:26:03

nicely for a time, but I think

another weather front towards the

0:26:030:26:08

north-west will cloud things over.

Look at that, 12-13d. That will

0:26:080:26:15

bring the remnants of the old

weather front through. Look at that,

0:26:150:26:23

then, 11, 12 degrees. As we move

into Wednesday, a lot of mild air,

0:26:230:26:29

but things get a little bit fresher

once we get behind it and you will

0:26:290:26:33

notice about the day that it is

milder. You will notice for

0:26:330:26:43

Wednesday itself, as it starts, it

will be wet, it will be really windy

0:26:430:26:47

as well and that frontal system

gradually clears away in the latter

0:26:470:26:52

part of the day but it will be late

on, while it is around, we stayed

0:26:520:26:56

with those mild conditions, 12 or 13

degrees and as we move into Thursday

0:26:560:27:01

and Friday, wings will turn fresher

as the winds go out of that

0:27:010:27:07

south-westerly by the end of the

week we are back into something more

0:27:070:27:11

of a northerly. Thank you.

0:27:110:27:13

week we are back into something more

of a northerly. Thank you.

0:27:140:27:17

That's it for now.

0:27:170:27:18

More from me and the London

team at ten thirty.

0:27:180:27:20

You can of course keep

across stories on our

0:27:200:27:23

website and Facebook page.

0:27:230:27:24

Thanks for watching

and have a lovely evening.
