We are back with the late news at 10.

:00:00.:00:00.

Now on BBC1 it's time for the news where you are.

:00:00.:00:00.

Welcome to BBC London News, I'm Victoria Hollins.

:00:00.:00:21.

A father has been left with life-changing injuries

:00:22.:00:24.

after a family had acid thrown at them in north London.

:00:25.:00:27.

The 40-year-old and his wife and two-year-old son

:00:28.:00:33.

were attacked in broad daylight in Islington yesterday lunchtime.

:00:34.:00:35.

It is this spot behind me where this attack happened.

:00:36.:00:40.

It's a busy London street, lots of families around.

:00:41.:00:42.

Just behind me there's a children's play park, as well.

:00:43.:00:45.

Yesterday lunchtime at around one o'clock a family was walking here.

:00:46.:00:47.

A 40-year-old man and his 36-year-old wife, and their young

:00:48.:00:50.

son, just a toddler, two years old.

:00:51.:00:53.

Police say they were attacked by someone armed

:00:54.:00:55.

The child and woman suffered minor chemical burns but the man suffered

:00:56.:01:03.

much worse chemical burns to his hands and face.

:01:04.:01:08.

Police have described his injuries as life changing.

:01:09.:01:11.

All three victims were treated right here at the scene by paramedics

:01:12.:01:15.

and also by firefighters who we understand poured water

:01:16.:01:18.

onto their faces to try and cool the burns down.

:01:19.:01:21.

They were then taken to hospital for treatment.

:01:22.:01:23.

The woman and the toddler were released overnight,

:01:24.:01:26.

but the man remains in hospital, being treated.

:01:27.:01:28.

He hasn't got life-threatening injuries, but as I said,

:01:29.:01:30.

These type of incidents are on the increase.

:01:31.:01:35.

There were 450 last year in London, that's double the number

:01:36.:01:41.

It's too early to say what happened in this incident,

:01:42.:01:45.

in which a family was attacked in broad daylight by

:01:46.:01:48.

Police are appealing for witnesses but have not

:01:49.:01:52.

Marc Ashdown, BBC London News in Islington.

:01:53.:01:57.

Investigations are continuing into the cause of a fire at a care

:01:58.:02:00.

home in Hertfordshire - in which two people died.

:02:01.:02:05.

The women - aged 91 and 89 - died after fire broke out at

:02:06.:02:08.

Crews from Essex, Hertfordshire and London were sent to the care

:02:09.:02:13.

Three are still being treated in hospital.

:02:14.:02:19.

More than ?2,000 has been raised through an online fund

:02:20.:02:21.

set up to help residents in the aftermath of the tragedy.

:02:22.:02:24.

A man has died after being hit by a night bus on Oxford Street.

:02:25.:02:27.

The collision happened at the junction with

:02:28.:02:29.

Harewood Place at around two o'clock this morning.

:02:30.:02:30.

Police and the ambulance service were called but the pedestrian,

:02:31.:02:33.

The bus driver stopped at the scene and hasn't been arrested.

:02:34.:02:37.

A woman has been left critically injured after

:02:38.:02:38.

The 27 year old was found in Rectory Road in Hackney around

:02:39.:02:45.

She was taken to an east London hospital where she remains

:02:46.:02:48.

Police are appealing for information.

:02:49.:02:50.

Disabled patients going to two hospitals in Surrey are going to be

:02:51.:02:53.

Ashford and St Peter's hospitals trust, which charges

:02:54.:02:57.

?3.50 for two hours, says it needs to raise

:02:58.:02:59.

income to "maintain and protect patient care".

:03:00.:03:06.

But campaigners say it's going to be a huge burden for disabled patients.

:03:07.:03:09.

Hugh had a driving accident in his 20s.

:03:10.:03:15.

Ever since he's spent thousands modifying his home

:03:16.:03:17.

One thing he usually gets for free, though, is parking, but not

:03:18.:03:22.

at his local hospital from next month.

:03:23.:03:24.

It just frustrates me that disabled people are going to have to pay

:03:25.:03:38.

when we've already paid a lot of extra expenses.

:03:39.:03:40.

I have huge list of expenses caused by my disability.

:03:41.:03:42.

And I thought this was one that, no, no.

:03:43.:03:45.

The trust says that there will be exemptions for some

:03:46.:03:49.

patients if eligible, but it hopes charging blue badge

:03:50.:03:51.

In a statement the trust told us that this decision had

:03:52.:03:56.

But it had to raise income to protect patient care.

:03:57.:04:07.

It said that these plans were considered two

:04:08.:04:09.

Then, they were dropped, but it has had to do so now

:04:10.:04:17.

because the financial climate is significantly more challenging.

:04:18.:04:19.

We're in poor times, as it were, so everyone's got to pay their way.

:04:20.:04:26.

But Randy and Ingrid completely disagree.

:04:27.:04:29.

We will probably have to sell the car to pay

:04:30.:04:33.

Parking is free for blue badge holders at most hospitals

:04:34.:04:37.

but Luton and Dunstable, Darent Valley, Southend

:04:38.:04:39.

and the Royal Marsden in Sutton all charge disabled drivers to park.

:04:40.:04:45.

From the 1st of May, so will Ashford and St Peter's.

:04:46.:04:47.

Now there's a petition to try and stop the plans.

:04:48.:04:50.

Not everybody is a wealthy blue badge holder and there are some

:04:51.:04:54.

people on the petition that have signed, that have said that this

:04:55.:04:57.

But in a time when hospitals are facing financial pressures, too,

:04:58.:05:02.

it seems inevitable that choices they make may be unpopular.

:05:03.:05:04.

And now a look at the weather with Sara Thornton.

:05:05.:05:12.

Hello, it's been a glorious weekend across London and temperatures today

:05:13.:05:15.

Well above average for the time of year.

:05:16.:05:22.

Some beautiful pictures captured by our weather watchers.

:05:23.:05:24.

But it's all change tonight, from tomorrow, much cooler,

:05:25.:05:27.

although predominantly dry through this week in the run up

:05:28.:05:30.

We will start with sunshine, but a cool north-westerly wind.

:05:31.:05:33.

Cloud bubbling up as we go through the afternoon.

:05:34.:05:38.

Look at the spreading temperatures compared to what we have seen.

:05:39.:05:41.

As we go through the week, temperatures largely in the low

:05:42.:05:47.

to mid teens and in the best of any sunny spells it shouldn't feel

:05:48.:05:50.

Good evening. If you can use a smelter describes the weather it

:05:51.:06:16.

would be owed a barbecue, and why not? Beautiful blue skies with highs

:06:17.:06:25.

of 25 degrees, yes, there was more cloud further west, and it was thick

:06:26.:06:27.

enough for

:06:28.:06:28.
