Hello, I'm Tom Williams. First more on the air crash. The light aircraft

came down in open country about four miles west of Chelmsford just before

three o'clock this afternoon. The Yak 52 had taken off from North

Weald airfield. It was engulfed in flames after it crashed near

Cooksmill Green. It was an hour before firefighters managed to put

the flames out. Police say the pilot and passenger died at the scene The

area around the site is still sealed off this evening. The Chelmsford to

Harlow road is still closed. A murder enquiry's under wax after a

man died in a park in Colchdster. The victim was found in Lowdr Castle

Park just before six this morning. He'd suffered head injuries. The

park was closed while the area was examined.

There's been a major policing operation in Peterborough today as

hundreds of members of the far right English Defence League stagdd a

rally in the city. There was a counter protest organised bx trade

unionists but the events passed off peacefully.

Police from 12 different forces made sure the protest reached its

destination without incident. The English Defence League have just

finished their march. They `re making a few speeches here `nd so

far it's been fairly peaceftl. At one stage they were within dyesight

of the trade unions, who ard just over to my right. There werd some

insults thrown and shouted `t one another but they were a good 20

yards apart. The huge policd presence here has certainly seemed

to have done its job. As for the EDL, they said there would be 5 0 to

1,000. It looks more like 140, 00 at the most. We are here to speak up

for the working class, the liddle class, for the people who don't feel

they have a voice in this country. For white people? For white people,

for black people, we don't care EDL, go to hell. Trade unions turned

out in force to make sure they also had their say. They say thex were

against Muslim fundamentalists and Muslim terrorists but actually what

you find when they are actu`lly on the street, they are opposed to

Islam. It has been a very good day. A good day for Peterborough, a good

day for the community, a good day for the police and I think ` good

day for protesters. One arrdst, nothing serious. As you can see

Peterborough is a hive of activity today, nobody has been affected by

it. It is a real success for us We're really pleased with the way

it's gone. And a smaller cldan`up operation than many had expdcted.

One person has been killed `nd two other people were taken to hospital

after a crash in Norwich. It happened when a car ran into a wall

in Wroxham Road in thick fog late last night. The road was closed for

nearly five hours while the wreckage was cleared.

In the football, Norwich relain in the thick of a relegation b`ttle in

the Premier League. City were comfortably beaten 3`0 at Swansea.

They never got going. De Guzman with two, Routledge with the othdr.

Norwich drop to 15th, six points above the drop zone with six to

play. You feel like you could havd done

something better. But that's something we've got to learn again.

Again and again and try to do better next week.

In the Championship, Daryl Lurphy equalised for Ipswich 12 minutes

from time to keep them right in the play`off mix. Town drew 1`1 with

promotion rivals Nottingham Forest. Ipswich remain two points off the

pace. In League One, despite a new record

attendance at Stadium MK, the Dons lost against leaders Wolves. Over

20,000 were there to see thdm go down 1`0. Colchester are just three

points above the drop zone `fter losing while Stevenage's 1`0 draw

keeps them bottom. Contrasting results in Leagte Two.

Costly defeat for relegation`threatened North`mpton.

3`0 against Bury. Southend `re back up into the play`offs after beating

Torquay. Freddy Eastwood with the goal.

Staying with football, 20,000 Peterborough fans head to Wdmbley

tomorrow for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final against Chesterfield.

And with Posh also battling for promotion from League One vha the

play`offs, they'll be hoping it s not their only trip there. Hn rugby,

Northampton lost for the thhrd game in a row. Anthony Allen scored

Leicester's only try in thehr 2 `16 win at Franklin's Gardens. Saints

scored two tries. They remahn second in the Premiership but have lost

ground on leaders, Saracens. To the weather with Georgin`

Perhaps some mist developing by dawn. That should burn off fairly

quickly. Certainly not as mtch as we had this morning. Then we are left

with a largely dry day with some milky sunshine around, feelhng very

warm indeed inland with temperatures reaching 17 or 18 degrees Cdlsius.

Look at that, a touch lower along the East Coast with highs of only 11

perhaps 12. That is because of an onshore breeze that we've h`d today

and will continue tomorrow. We hold onto that warm weather for the

beginning of next week but becoming wetter by the middle of the week.
