Hello. I'm Jenny Kirk. Investigators are trying work out why a lhght

aircraft crashed in Essex, killing both the pilot and passenger. The

plane had taken off from North Weald airfield yesterday afternoon and was

only minutes into its flight when it came down in a field at Cooksmill

Green near Chelmsford and c`ught fire. Kevin Burch reports. This was

This man was having lunch whth friends at a nearby pub and saw it

coming down. I said to one of my friends the plane was flying low, we

looked up, it appeared to bd at doing a loop the loop, we hdard a

popping sound, not really an explosion, like you would ilagine,

relatively quiet sound. Firdfighters were on the scene within minutes and

found the plane completely `light. They used foam to put out the

flames. The plane took off here about nine miles away. The site is

owned by Epping Forest district Council, and the chief execttive

said the team were shocked `nd dismayed at what had happendd. He

said their thoughts and condolences were with the family and frhends of

the men involved. Today, officials from the investigation Branch were

on site to gather evidence. According remain in place as the

police kept sealed off. It hs not the first time one of these planes

has come to grief. Three ye`rs ago and instructor at student dhed when

their aircraft plummeted into a lake. In 2003, two brothers died

when their plane crashed in a field. Police said the immediate f`mily and

victims of this tragedy are being offered help and support as the

investigation continues. An investigation's underway into the

death of a detainee being hdld at the Yarl's Wood immigration centre

in Bedfordshire. Police werd called when the woman ` who was 40 ` died

this morning. The Home Office has described the death as unexplained.

One insider has told the BBC the death sparked a protest among

detainees. The police have named a man found dying after he was

violently attacked in a park in Colchester. 33`year`old Jim Attfield

had major injuries to his hdad and upper body. He was found early

yesterday by a passer`by in Lower Castle Park. A murder

investigation's now underwax. Police and paramedics were called to the

scene. Life`saving was attelpted unfortunately the meal was

pronounced dead at 630. 20,000 Peterborough United supportdrs were

at Wembley this afternoon to see their side triumph in the

Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Jonathan Park was there too. They have done

it again, Wembley winners. Their divisional superiority made a

difference as they raced into a 2`0 lead. It was their first go`ls for

the club. But Chesterfield came back into the game and were given more

hope when Peterborough were reduced to ten men. But they got thd fourth

goal, this surging run was dnded when a penalty kick was awarded No

mistake was made. They will hope to be back here again in the play`off

final. As for this competithon, the manager said he wanted to whn it

from the start. They did th`t. But it was a fairly disappointing

weekend for most of the rest of our teams, as Tom Williams now reports.

Despite his Norwich team arriving thinking positive, Chris Eugen

admitted that they deserved nothing. It is what they got. Swanse`

trouble full dash. Now the weather. We do not have a continuation of the

week's weather but it is not too bad. It will close over as we head

towards dawn. Quite cloudy tomorrow. Temperatures

up`to`the`minute teens. There are showers around as well. Not

everybody will see these but they are lacking in the background. For

the rest of the week, fairlx cloudy with the odd shower, turning worse

on Friday. Good evening. It has been the

warmest day of 2014 so far. It has been distinctly chilly on North Sea

coasts of eastern Scotland and north-east England. That chilly

breeze and cloud that has been depressing those temperatures will

return more widely, turning misty and murky. For the south we could

import a few sharp showers across from France. So, that mist and murk

are the main thing to watch out for tomorrow.

Some hazy sunshine west. A frost even for Shetland. Hazy sunshine for

a time in Northern Ireland. Showers are moving northwards. Behind it,

cloudy, but reasonably bright weather. I don't think there'll be

as much sunshine as today, so it will not be as warm. We are looking
