First tonight, the need to expand our trade horizons

Whatever the result of the negotiations over the next

two years, many of our businesses are already looking

beyond Europe to expand, so today a high-powered trade

delegation from China was invited to Milton Keynes.

Trying to understand the enigma of British business post-Brexit.

This trade delegation from the Chinese city

of Shenzhen began their tour of the Milton Keynes area

here at Bletchley Park, home of the codebreakers.

The aim - to tune into the UK market.

We're part of the business community here in Milton Keynes.

We provide heritage, but actually it's a business

It's important for us, therefore, to make sure that everybody,

both nationally and internationally, is aware of what we have to offer

here and it's a great opportunity for us to reach out

This visit is the result of a year of planning in response

to the Chinese President's state visit in 2015.

It was said it would herald a golden era of UK-China relations.

Now as we prepare to leave the EU, businesses are hoping to capitalise.

What we want is, we all know Great Britain is great,

so as entrepreneurs from China we want to be here to see how

In particular, we are interested about the wake of Brexit,

what's the latest developments between China and the UK,

will there be any closer relations between London and Beijing?

Milton Keynes was chosen for its reputation for innovation.

Milton Keynes may also have more in common with the mega city

The idea of going to Milton Keynes when these people come

from Shenzhen, which 30 years ago was a small fishing village

with a population of 35,000 people and is now a city of 15 million,

so I guess it's grown faster than Milton Keynes

The aim of today was to showcase the best of British

Earlier I asked Lesley Batchelor, Director General of the Institute

of Export why trips like this one are so important.

Any business needs to have some face-to-face interaction.

I think it gives everybody a chance to see that this is a great

opportunity for us and, indeed, that there is somebody

The Chinese in particular find it very important to meet several times

before they even start thinking about doing business with people.

And we are currently very reliant on European trade.

Are we ready in the east to look beyond Europe now?

No, I think we need to do some work on how we're going to trade.

I think we need to learn a lot more about process and about how

the compliance issues work around the world.

Goods can't travel on an aeroplane, for example, without the right

security papers and the papers that actually help you to get into that

country on the other side and we as a nation need to look

at how we do that and that's what the institute does,

we are very big on helping people to trade and understand

the documentation and compliance issues that support that trade.

Do you see Brexit as a problem or a big opportunity?

From where we are, it means that there is going to be an awful

lot of opportunity for businesses but it does mean that they have

the problem of finding out how to enter those markets properly

and what to do to make it an effectively profitable

Matthew Sharpe has been jailed for at least 25

years for killing Andrew Hasler and trying to kill Charna Knights

A neighbour who saved her life was today praised by the judge.

Possessive and controlling with an intention to murder,

Matthew Sharpe bought three knifes with the sole intention of killing

Charna Knights, supported by family and friends in court today,

survived after being stabbed 12 times after breaking

The court heard that Sharpe said sorry as he put his arm around

Charna's neck and then stabbed her millimetres

Andrew Hasler tried to help but he was stabbed 17 times.

Sharpe didn't stop until he was dead - and then he turned

The vicious attack happened in January at the flat

Charna Knights shared with Andrew Hasler.

He'd offered her a place to stay and they formed a relationship.

Charna's life was saved by neighbour Andrew Phelps,

He was praised by the judge and given a bravery award

for wrestling the knife from Sharpe as he tried to stab him.

The murdered man's mother gave her reaction.

Still can't believe that Andrew's not here with us.

But I'm pleased to see that the judge recognised

Andrew Phelps' actions in saving Charna.

Charna Knights said although she knew Sharpe had a temper,

she had no idea he would commit such an evil attack.

The actor Tim Piggott Smith has died while in Northampton.

He'd been in the town rehearsing for his lead

role in a new production of Death Of A Salesman,

which was due to open on Monday evening at the Royal

It's a dry night with a lot of the sky and mist and fog. There will be

some chilly temperatures. Low enough for a patch of frost in places. A

sunshine, unbroken from many others. Temperatures respond wisely. Warm

air. Sunday, some mist and fog clearing and then a dry day with
