Hello. I'm Amanda Goodman.

:00:11.:00:12.

First - a major police investigation is under way after violence flared

:00:13.:00:16.

A fight involving around 20 people broke out in Brentwood High Street.

:00:17.:00:22.

A car then struck three people, leaving one with serious injuries.

:00:23.:00:25.

An eyewitness described it as terrifying.

:00:26.:00:31.

Today, police were carrying out interviews after a hit and run

:00:32.:00:35.

incident outside the Sugar Hut nightclub in Brentwood.

:00:36.:00:39.

It happened around 3am this morning when officers were called

:00:40.:00:42.

to a disturbance outside the venue following a fight which was

:00:43.:00:46.

happening in the street, involving a group of around 20 people.

:00:47.:00:49.

I don't really know what started the fighting.

:00:50.:00:53.

The fight broke out which escalated to about 50

:00:54.:00:56.

or 60 people at one time. Two or three people looked

:00:57.:00:59.

as if they were quite badly hurt during that time.

:01:00.:01:02.

I phoned the police and the ambulance.

:01:03.:01:05.

I saw one guy that went down, it looked like he was unconscious

:01:06.:01:09.

and got dragged off the street. There was another guy that

:01:10.:01:12.

went down, he looked like he was quite seriously hurt.

:01:13.:01:14.

He stayed down for quite some minutes until the

:01:15.:01:16.

paramedics got there. Then the police arrived.

:01:17.:01:19.

I was probably watching the fight for about 15 minutes.

:01:20.:01:21.

Essex Police say two men and one woman were taken to hospital.

:01:22.:01:24.

One with serious injuries after being struck by a blue Audi.

:01:25.:01:28.

Their condition is believed not to be life-threatening.

:01:29.:01:32.

Police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed or filmed the incident

:01:33.:01:35.

on their mobiles to get in contact by calling 101.

:01:36.:01:43.

A man has been charged following a robbery in Essex

:01:44.:01:45.

Timothy Smith died after a gang forced their way into a house

:01:46.:01:51.

in The Drive in Hullbridge a week ago.

:01:52.:01:53.

Andrew McVicar from Dewsgreen in Basildon has been

:01:54.:01:56.

He's due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court later this month.

:01:57.:02:01.

A stretch of the Grand Union canal in Northamptonshire has been closed

:02:02.:02:04.

following a spillage of fuel. It's thought it may have been caused

:02:05.:02:07.

by somebody damaging a fuel pipe near Gayton Marina at Blisworth.

:02:08.:02:10.

Booms have been put across the water to try to contain the leak.

:02:11.:02:18.

A conservation project on the Norfolk-Suffolk border

:02:19.:02:21.

is to receive half a million pounds of lottery money.

:02:22.:02:24.

It's to help save 20 rare species of animal and plant life,

:02:25.:02:28.

including the stone curlew and a tiny plant -

:02:29.:02:30.

They're all threatened with extinction at The Brecks.

:02:31.:02:40.

It goes beyond just the plants of the Brecks, we are talking

:02:41.:02:43.

about a a suite of invertebrate species, so insects, lovely moths,

:02:44.:02:45.

and a particular little wasp that we are looking at.

:02:46.:02:48.

It's also dealing with some of our birds here, the stone curlew

:02:49.:02:51.

Shaun Peel reports on the weekend's highs and lows for our teams.

:02:52.:02:59.

The draw bandits struck again as Ipswich v

:03:00.:03:01.

That's nine draws for Ipswich in the last 12 games.

:03:02.:03:06.

Grant Ward's cross-come-shot keeps their heads six points

:03:07.:03:08.

above the water line. Norwich caretaker boss Alan Irvine

:03:09.:03:11.

summed up his side's 2-0 defeat at Villa.

:03:12.:03:14.

He said last pass, the last cross and the last attempt

:03:15.:03:16.

at goal let us down, so pretty much everything you need

:03:17.:03:19.

Norwich slipped to ninth, seven points from the bunch.

:03:20.:03:26.

In League 1, late drama at Roots Hall as Southend beat Oldham 3-0.

:03:27.:03:29.

They had Ryan Leonard sent off with 20 minutes to go,

:03:30.:03:31.

but reacted with strikes from Nile Ranger and Theo Robinson

:03:32.:03:34.

Their fourth victory on the bounce leaves them in sixth.

:03:35.:03:41.

It was also late drama as MK Dons beat Gillingham 3-2.

:03:42.:03:44.

The closing minutes produced two goals, two red cards

:03:45.:03:46.

But Dean Lewington's last-minute winner saw Dons claim victory.

:03:47.:03:51.

Peterborough beat Charlton 2-0 and their second goal was a thing

:03:52.:03:55.

of beauty as Marcus Maddison's exquisite chip deceived the keeper

:03:56.:03:57.

and dropped in via the underside. That's what you call a Posh goal.

:03:58.:04:01.

Paul Anderson rescued a point three minutes into stoppage time.

:04:02.:04:07.

In League 2, Stevenage beat Barnet 1-0 to stay fourth.

:04:08.:04:10.

Tom Pett with the goal for their eighth home victory in a row.

:04:11.:04:16.

Luton are still tucked in behind Stevenage after beating Blackpool

:04:17.:04:19.

Ollie Palmer nicked it for Luton in stoppage time.

:04:20.:04:28.

Cambridge still have designs on the play-offs

:04:29.:04:30.

Both goals from leading scorer "Cool Feet" Luke.

:04:31.:04:36.

Luke Berry with his 18th and 19th goals of the season.

:04:37.:04:39.

Colchester also have slim hopes of making the mix and losing 3-1

:04:40.:04:41.

at Notts County didn't help their cause.

:04:42.:04:44.

Kettering golfer Charley Hull's hopes of a second title challenge

:04:45.:04:47.

in a row in California appear to be over.

:04:48.:04:50.

The 21-year-old's third round of 71, 1-under par, leaves her on 5-under -

:04:51.:04:54.

A quick look at the weather with Elizabeth.

:04:55.:05:04.

Hello, good evening. Lots of sunshine around today

:05:05.:05:07.

although it did turn a bit cloudier through the afternoon.

:05:08.:05:10.

And there will be more sunshine on offer next week.

:05:11.:05:13.

It's also looking mostly dry apart from perhaps a few spots of light

:05:14.:05:16.

rain and drizzle on Tuesday and gardeners take note,

:05:17.:05:18.

there will be some chilly nights with possibly a touch of frost

:05:19.:05:21.

in the more rural prone spots at times.

:05:22.:05:24.

Overnight, it will stay dry, there will be some

:05:25.:05:27.

patchy mist forming. Also some low cloud

:05:28.:05:30.

into tomorrow morning. A particularly chilly start.

:05:31.:05:36.

The mist, the low cloud will gradually burn back

:05:37.:05:38.

to the coast through the morning, lots of blue sky and sunshine

:05:39.:05:41.

developing and a dry and fine day. Sunny spells into the afternoon

:05:42.:05:44.

with a bit more cloud around. Top temperatures 15 or 16 degrees.

:05:45.:05:47.

But towards coastal areas, it will be a bit cooler,

:05:48.:05:49.

it could stay quite murky here for much of the day

:05:50.:05:52.

and there could even be a bit of sea fog.

:05:53.:05:54.

Watch out for the thickening clouds and patchy rain on Tuesday,

:05:55.:05:57.

after that, it stays bright but it will feel a bit cooler.

:05:58.:05:59.

It was a lovely second part to the weekend for most parts of the UK,

:06:00.:06:14.

lots of sunshine, more cloud to the east but in the last few hours it

:06:15.:06:19.

started to melt away and the process will continue, most places seeing

:06:20.:06:23.

lengthy clear spells overnight and much like last night it will turn a

:06:24.:06:27.

bit chilly. We might see mist and fog, like winds, more of a breeze in

:06:28.:06:34.

the north and west, cloud and patchy rain approaching the Western Isles

:06:35.:06:36.

by the end of the

:06:37.:06:37.
