Good evening and welcome to BBC Look North.

Parents whose babies' ashes were scattered

without their knowledge meet council officials to press

:00:12.:00:13.

Parents are still no nearer to getting answers

:00:14.:00:19.

Two years on from the Germanwings crash in which a Hull man died,

:00:20.:00:24.

the pilot's parents claim it wasn't deliberate.

:00:41.:00:41.

And more spring sunshine to come tomorrow. I will be back with all

:00:42.:00:53.

the details later in the programme. Parents whose still-born babies'

:00:54.:01:04.

ashes were scattered or kept without their knowledge,

:01:05.:01:06.

have been told today that they will be given more

:01:07.:01:08.

information about what happened. Campaigners have met

:01:09.:01:11.

with Hull City Council - their first meeting since

:01:12.:01:13.

they learned there would not be Instead, parents will be able to see

an internal council review. But Hull North MP Diana Johnson says

:01:17.:01:21.

the review is "limited", and a full inquiry should be held

to find out why so many parents were not given

their children s remains. Tina Trowhill with her stillborn son

William. She was told there would be no Ashes. That was in 1994. Tina is

:01:54.:01:59.

still campaigning along with other families who said their babies'

:02:00.:02:02.

ashes were scattered or kept without their knowledge. Today, mothers and

:02:03.:02:08.

local MP Diana Johnson met with Hull City Council calling for an enquiry

:02:09.:02:12.

into what happened. It is for all of us, for William and all the other

:02:13.:02:16.

parents. I want to know why I did not get my fun's Ashes back because

:02:17.:02:21.

I would have had plans of what to do with those ashes. The same with

:02:22.:02:26.

every parent who has been involved. Today's meeting of the latest in a

:02:27.:02:32.

long campaign. Tina began the action group in 2014, after she discovered

:02:33.:02:38.

her son's Ashes had been scattered following his cremation. After two

:02:39.:02:42.

years of campaigning and handing in a petition to Downing Street, a

:02:43.:02:46.

breakthrough. Michael Gove wrote to Hull City Council asking them to

:02:47.:02:49.

commission an enquiry into what happened. But five months later, the

:02:50.:02:53.

new Justice Secretary Liz Truss said she was satisfied with the changes

:02:54.:02:58.

the council had made and no enquiry was needed. That is a decision which

:02:59.:03:02.

has angered campaigners. I do not think this was their finest hour.

:03:03.:03:14.

These families want answers to their questions and they are not going to

:03:15.:03:16.

go away. The chief executive did agree he would speak to be leader of

:03:17.:03:19.

the council about this and related strength of feeling of the family so

:03:20.:03:22.

we will have to see what the leader says next. In a statement, Hull City

:03:23.:03:24.

Council says they offer their deepest sympathies to those affected

:03:25.:03:27.

by this tragic situation. They said they will respond to every parent

:03:28.:03:32.

who has been affected. The team are still wants the council to meet with

:03:33.:03:36.

a bigger group of parents together. Only then will they realise the

:03:37.:03:40.

scale of what happened. Victoria is outside

:03:41.:03:43.

Hull City Council this evening. The campaigners have told me that

:03:44.:03:52.

during this meeting the cost of a full independent enquiry was

:03:53.:03:57.

discussed and it would be between ?100,000 and ?150,000, perhaps one

:03:58.:04:00.

of the reasons the council is reluctant to hold it. However, the

:04:01.:04:04.

council said they would reveal details of an internal review they

:04:05.:04:07.

carried out. They said they put measures in place to stop this

:04:08.:04:11.

happening again and they want to reassure everybody. Campaigners say

:04:12.:04:14.

this is a step in the right direction but they

:04:15.:04:25.

would need more detail if they are ever going to find out why so many

:04:26.:04:30.

families over seven years did not have their babies' ashes returned to

:04:31.:04:31.

them. Let us know what you

:04:32.:04:32.

think of this story. Have Hull City Council done enough

:04:33.:04:35.

to answer the questions The government says the Council

:04:36.:04:37.

should concentrate its resources on improving its systems rather

:04:38.:04:40.

than on holding an inquiry. Thousands of ceramic

poppies go on display On the second anniversary

of the Germanwings air crash, which killed 150 people,

a family from Hull have travelled Their relative Paul Bramley

deliberately crashed into a mountain, but in a remarkable

statement today his family have How different are the claims

was 28-year-old Paul Bramley. He was on his way back to the UK

:05:49.:05:54.

from a holiday in Barcelona when the Germanwings aircraft

:05:55.:05:58.

was downed in the French Alps. Since then, German prosecutors have

:05:59.:06:00.

found that the pilot, Andreas Lubitz, had been suicidal

and flown the plane He locked his colleague out of the

cockpit so he could not do anything about it.

:06:22.:06:23.

He had a history of mental health issues.

:06:24.:06:25.

But today his father Gunter, publicly said he believes that's not

:06:26.:06:28.

true, saying his son wasn't depressed at that time, and was

:06:29.:06:30.

What's been the reaction to what he's said?

:06:31.:06:34.

Well, the pilot's father has actually made these claims

:06:35.:06:36.

on the second anniversary of the plane crash on the day

:06:37.:06:39.

relatives of those who died - including family members

:06:40.:06:41.

of Paul Bramley - have gone to attend a special memorial

:06:42.:06:44.

A solicitor said Paul Bramley's family are aware of those claims,

:06:45.:06:51.

A man will appear in crown court charged with public order offences

:06:52.:07:02.

On Wednesday night, police received reports of a man behaving

:07:03.:07:08.

23-year-old Jake Jones appeared before magistrates today

:07:09.:07:11.

and will appear before Grimsby Crown Court next week.

:07:12.:07:16.

Two families from Grimsby say they've been caused

:07:17.:07:18.

unnecessary distress by North East Lincolnshire Council

:07:19.:07:20.

after being told by officials to remove ornamental stones

:07:21.:07:24.

The council says the stones at the Scartho Road Cemetery

:07:25.:07:31.

have to be kept within an approved kerbed enclosure.

:07:32.:07:34.

Mothers, Laura Taylor and Tracie McPhee have been given

:07:35.:07:36.

until Thursday to remove them, but insist the stones

:07:37.:07:39.

We've not got big statues out, big neon lights everywhere.

:07:40.:07:45.

It's tasteful, it's respectful, because it's our little girl

:07:46.:07:48.

It's not something we want to scream and shout about,

:07:49.:07:52.

but I won't be told to take something out that doesn't

:07:53.:07:55.

They're not going to gain anything by taking those stones out.

:07:56.:08:02.

Well, in a statement, North East Lincolnshire Council says

:08:03.:08:04.

that, "The regulations have been in place for many years and it's

:08:05.:08:08.

important that we treat all grave owners equally when dealing

:08:09.:08:10.

And they go on to say, that, "In this instance the families did

:08:11.:08:16.

agree to abide by the regulations when they applied

:08:17.:08:19.

A former Hull Stingrays ice hockey player has been jailed

:08:20.:08:27.

after admitting sexual activity with a young girl.

:08:28.:08:30.

Tom Squires groomed the girl and approached several others

:08:31.:08:33.

after meeting them at hockey training camps he helped to run.

:08:34.:08:37.

The 26-year-old has been jailed for five years and four months.

:08:38.:08:40.

He will also spend three years on extended licence

:08:41.:08:44.

A vigil has been held outside Hull's railway station -

:08:45.:08:52.

in response to the terror attack in London

:08:53.:08:54.

People gathered to remember those killed and injured in the attack

:08:55.:08:58.

But the organisers said it was also about standing up to anti-Muslim

:08:59.:09:04.

At a time like this we feel it's all the more important

:09:05.:09:12.

to get out on the streets, even if there's not many of us,

:09:13.:09:15.

to set that line in the sand, to say we will not allow racism

:09:16.:09:18.

Grants's accident and emergency department will be opening earlier

:09:19.:09:37.

from Monday. They said a lack of staff meant they could not run the

:09:38.:09:42.

service appropriately. It will now open at eight o'clock instead of

:09:43.:09:47.

nine and run until 6:30pm in the evening. -- Grantham's A

:09:48.:09:54.

The biggest names in comedy, music and television will be raising

:09:55.:09:56.

money for charity as Comic Relief takes place tonight.

:09:57.:09:58.

One group which helps dementia sufferers in Lincolnshire

:09:59.:10:00.

received funding thanks to last year's appeal.

:10:01.:10:02.

Our reporter Jake Zuckerman has been to visit them to see how the money

:10:03.:10:05.

Enjoying the great outdoors with your friends is a pleasure that

:10:06.:10:09.

can so easily be taken for granted, but when you're living

:10:10.:10:12.

with dementia, isolation is often a big problem.

:10:13.:10:25.

So here at Market Deeping in South Lincolnshire,

:10:26.:10:27.

a group is taking people with dementia to places

:10:28.:10:29.

they wouldn't normally be able to get to, and it's more

:10:30.:10:32.

Well, we get people becoming much more active so they get to go out

:10:33.:10:37.

and walk, which is great not just for physical health

:10:38.:10:40.

but for your emotional health and well-being as well.

:10:41.:10:42.

People also get to reminisce over maps and look at places

:10:43.:10:44.

where they used to live but also about where they have walked before

:10:45.:10:48.

and where they would like to go in the future.

:10:49.:10:50.

Sortified received ?2000 from Comic Relief last year

:10:51.:10:52.

to organise walks and outdoor activities for people with dementia.

:10:53.:10:54.

Geo-caching is electronic treasure hunting so I have hidden five

:10:55.:10:58.

containers so we will go out on a bit with a GPS unit

:10:59.:11:01.

Without the help of Sortified it would be nigh on impossible

:11:02.:11:07.

for many here to enjoy the countryside safely.

:11:08.:11:09.

And it's come to play a vital role in their lives.

:11:10.:11:12.

To come here once a fortnight, it's really good to get together.

:11:13.:11:22.

If this wasn't here, you would just be sitting

:11:23.:11:25.

You would sit there and wonder what do I do now?

:11:26.:11:32.

You have got a life, you still need to live it and carry on.

:11:33.:11:36.

It is things like these that is helping us in our lives.

:11:37.:11:41.

The amount of money provided by Comic Relief may be small,

:11:42.:11:43.

but it's making a big difference here.

:11:44.:11:48.

Without Comic Relief we wouldn't be able to do this group.

:11:49.:11:51.

We wouldn't have the funding, we wouldn't be able to do it.

:11:52.:11:54.

It's really vital that people can see the money that they give and can

:11:55.:11:57.

come along and help us to provide superb activities for people,

:11:58.:12:00.

doing things they wouldn't normally get to do.

:12:01.:12:02.

So it is thanks to everyone who has donated to Comic Relief

:12:03.:12:09.

that the work here can continue and those who benefit can

:12:10.:12:16.

carry on enjoying a full and satisfying life.

:12:17.:12:21.

We will have more on Comic Relief before we finish the programme at

:12:22.:12:24.

seven o'clock. On Wednesday we will be

:12:25.:12:27.

broadcasting the whole It's the day the government

:12:28.:12:29.

in Boston on Wednesday, all you have to do is email us

at [email protected], telling us your views about the UK leaving

:12:45.:12:48.

telephone number too. If you would like to join us in

Boston next Wednesday, e-mail us. Drop off line tonight or the

:13:09.:13:13.

weekend. Thank you for watching this Friday night.

:13:14.:13:15.

Still ahead tonight: Hull FC could top Super League tonight,

:13:16.:13:17.

but to get there they have to beat the current champions.

:13:18.:13:21.

The town going La La for Comic Relief.

:13:22.:13:36.

It is 80 minutes to seven o'clock. Tonight's photograph was taken by

:13:37.:13:44.

Jeddy of Cleethorpes. Thank you for that one. Local girl makes good is

:13:45.:13:49.

on the programme tonight -- it is 18 minutes to seven o'clock. Beautiful

:13:50.:13:56.

Cleethorpes! Now, Peter, tell me how I can get hold of one of these! Your

:13:57.:14:04.

hair is very dark. Very, very dark. That is probably because it is 20

:14:05.:14:08.

years old! Thank you for that, most grateful. I would love one of those

:14:09.:14:14.

so I could be with you all the time. Paul would be buried jealous.

:14:15.:14:18.

Because he wants a badge of you, not because he wants to be with you! At

:14:19.:14:24.

least I am not dying my hair like he is. Thank you for that. Anyway, 20

:14:25.:14:33.

years old. There is probably one for ?100 on eBay. Anyway.

:14:34.:14:39.

This weekend looks lovely. A bit of a chilly start. There will be plenty

:14:40.:14:46.

of sunshine. The coast will be cooler, that is because there is a

:14:47.:14:52.

breeze from the sea. It has had all weekend to cool down. On Sunday,

:14:53.:14:59.

more high pressure. We will drag more cloudy and off the sea for

:15:00.:15:02.

Monday. Monday is dampened drizzly I am afraid. Through this afternoon,

:15:03.:15:08.

plenty of sunshine. We got up to 12 degrees away from the coast. A fine

:15:09.:15:13.

evening out there. Long clear spells. A finite to come. We will

:15:14.:15:19.

see some patchy mist and fog developing in low-lying places into

:15:20.:15:23.

tomorrow morning. And we are looking at a frost. I think temperatures

:15:24.:15:26.

will be lower than this so we could get down to freezing if not below.

:15:27.:15:31.

Temperatures along the coast will hold up. The sun will rise in the

:15:32.:15:43.

morning. -- at 5:33am. Tomorrow, Sun missed which will lift by nine or

:15:44.:15:49.

ten o'clock. Plenty of sunshine through the day. Always a little bit

:15:50.:15:52.

cooler along the coast with the breeze of the sea. Temperatures here

:15:53.:15:57.

probably sneaking into double figures. Don't be surprised if some

:15:58.:16:04.

spot stay at eight or 9 degrees. Don't forget, the clocks go forward

:16:05.:16:09.

into Sunday. Sunday through the afternoon, more cloud about. Damp

:16:10.:16:13.

and drizzly to start the day on Monday, Peter.

:16:14.:16:17.

What is the chance of someone watching who has one of those badges

:16:18.:16:22.

from 15 or 20 years ago? They could let you have it. That would be great

:16:23.:16:27.

kind. Thank you for the humiliation, I look forward to more next week!

:16:28.:16:34.

This weekend sees a world-first in Hull: the first ever live

:16:35.:16:37.

performance in full of David Bowie's album Ziggy Stardust

:16:38.:16:39.

And playing drums is the only surviving member

:16:40.:16:42.

He grew up in Driffield, but spent most of his early

:16:43.:16:46.

Our culture correspondent Anne-Marie Tasker has been with him

:16:47.:16:50.

It is one of rock's most iconic albums, the rise and fall of Ziggy

:16:51.:17:03.

Stardust and the spiders from Mars. And this weekend it will be played

:17:04.:17:12.

live in full for the first time. Drama Woody Woodmansey is the only

:17:13.:17:16.

surviving member of the group. He has been back to East Yorkshire to

:17:17.:17:20.

places where he hung out as a young musician. This was the first place

:17:21.:17:26.

where I ever recorded with anybody. It was with the Rats. Mick had been

:17:27.:17:35.

in with them and another drama. They had done a track called the rise and

:17:36.:17:41.

fall with Bernie Gribble stone. I do not think it would have gone quite

:17:42.:17:49.

as far with that name! Woody also played his first gigs here in pubs.

:17:50.:17:55.

We are in the Duke of Cumberland. When did you play here? About 1969.

:17:56.:18:03.

How much has it changed? Identified recognise one piece of it. Different

:18:04.:18:08.

net curtains then! It was more rock and roll. I remembered doing the

:18:09.:18:13.

Spiders tours with Bowie, we would have some time off and come here. It

:18:14.:18:18.

was a good place to watch bands and have a night out and just relax.

:18:19.:18:25.

Woody, alongside East Yorkshire musicians Mick Ronson and Trevor

:18:26.:18:28.

bolder toured the world with David Bowie. But there was one place where

:18:29.:18:35.

they never played. Finally, you I hear! Brilliant, that was the

:18:36.:18:40.

biggest gig in Bolton. It was always the dream to play at City Hall. Here

:18:41.:18:45.

we are on the stage. How does it feel being up here getting ready to

:18:46.:18:50.

play? It is great. It is somewhere Bowie wanted to play himself. He

:18:51.:18:57.

knew we were from here so it was always on our wish list but it never

:18:58.:19:03.

happened. To come back here, Hull the City of Culture is amazing. To

:19:04.:19:07.

be able to celebrate Bowie's legacy, his music and do it for Mick and

:19:08.:19:12.

Trevor as well. It would have been nice for them to have been here in

:19:13.:19:20.

their city and to be playing. So almost 45 years since his album was

:19:21.:19:26.

released, playing it live in Hull must be Woody's dream country.

:19:27.:19:34.

-- dream come true. That will be great. Tickets went straightaway.

:19:35.:19:37.

A Lincolnshire school has been celebrating its connection

:19:38.:19:39.

with a songwriter who sold millions of records.

:19:40.:19:41.

Pupils at De Aston school performed songs including

:19:42.:19:43.

Thriller and Boogie Nights, written by former pupil

:19:44.:19:44.

A plaque was also unveiled at the school in Market Rasen.

:19:45.:19:48.

We see it as part of our school, celebrating our heritage,

:19:49.:19:52.

but also showing our students that there are opportunities

:19:53.:19:56.

We've had two other students in relation to this and talk

:19:57.:20:03.

to our students and show that they've really achieved great

:20:04.:20:06.

Thousands of ceramic poppies have been put on display

:20:07.:20:13.

The Weeping Window will be in the city until mid-May,

:20:14.:20:28.

as part of a UK wide tour commemorating the First World War.

:20:29.:20:31.

The museum building has been chosen to remember the sacrifices made

:20:32.:20:33.

by the Merchant Navy and trawler men.

:20:34.:20:35.

You don't have to tell anybody what it is. You instantly know what it

:20:36.:20:42.

is, the flower of life and it flows like the water in the maritime

:20:43.:20:46.

history that you have here. We didn't want a formal solemn

:20:47.:20:51.

memorial, we wanted to celebrate the lost lives and lost energy of the

:20:52.:20:55.

First World War so it should have some of that spirit, really. It is

:20:56.:20:57.

on display now. Hull FC could top the Super League

:20:58.:21:00.

if they win tonight. To get there they have to beat

:21:01.:21:03.

the current leaders and champions More from our sports

reporter, Simon Clark. They've been scaling

:21:06.:21:08.

the heights this week. Josh Bowden and Jansen Turgut,

Hull FC players trying to reach the summit

:21:13.:21:21.

of whole's newest rock wall. Hull made at four wins

from five with this But Wigan showed why

:21:24.:21:27.

they are the team to beat, with this demolition of last

season's league winners There is plenty of talent,

:21:32.:21:32.

if you look at the two sides that line-up, there are some outstanding

:21:33.:21:38.

footballers on there. We're going to go head-to-head

with a lot of state, obviously. This club has gone

:21:45.:21:47.

to bat at the moment. We four from five at the start

:21:48.:21:54.

of the season, so you know, that's a good position to be in,

:21:55.:21:57.

going into the next I don't think the fans will be too

:21:58.:22:00.

unhappy as well as the club. And one-man well placed

:22:01.:22:04.

to judge is Craig Murdock. If you're looking at teams

:22:05.:22:06.

for silverware, this year, I think Wigan are still a little bit

:22:07.:22:20.

above Hull but at this moment in time would have a lot of injuries

:22:21.:22:25.

which they seem to have Hull are almost fully fit

:22:26.:22:28.

so it is an interesting game. Whoever wins this game will not

:22:29.:22:32.

necessarily be crowned champions of Super League but if Hull

:22:33.:22:34.

were victorious at Wigan, it would send a serious message out

:22:35.:22:37.

to the rest of the competition. There's plenty of sport on your BBC

:22:38.:22:40.

Local Radio station this weekend. Starting with that Hull FC

:22:41.:22:43.

game at Wigan tonight, it's on BBC Radio Humberside,

kick off is at 8pm. On Saturday in League Two,

take on Halifax, kick off is at 3pm. Now, it is hoped millions of pounds

:23:14.:23:32.

will be raised tonight for Comic Relief, as people across the country

:23:33.:23:35.

have been raising money for the appeal in many different ways. In

:23:36.:23:41.

one East Yorkshire town, traffic was brought to a standstill as children

:23:42.:23:49.

re-enacted a famous scene from the film La La Land. And in Hull, one

:23:50.:23:53.

call centre will be taking pledges tonight. Caroline Bilton is there

:23:54.:24:00.

and can also tell us what other fundraising is taking place? I'm

:24:01.:24:04.

here at one of the many Comic Relief call centres where staff here will

:24:05.:24:08.

be taking calls until midnight tonight. They have done their bit

:24:09.:24:13.

already. They have done dress downs and bake sales and raised over

:24:14.:24:17.

?1000. So thank you, thank you. You have done your bit as well for Red

:24:18.:24:24.

Nose Day. Everyone loves a conga. Hull University did one with a duck

:24:25.:24:31.

and a swan leading the way. And some crazy fundraisers held a robot race.

:24:32.:24:36.

They'll donated to take part and had control of a robot on their phone.

:24:37.:24:41.

But he will kill me for showing this, BBC Radio Lincolnshire's

:24:42.:24:46.

Melvin Pryor presented his programme wearing a ball gown today. Doesn't

:24:47.:24:51.

he look gorgeous? The prize does go to the town of Snaith where the

:24:52.:24:59.

entire town decided to do their own version of La La Land. Take a look

at this. MUSIC How long has it taken you to put

like crazy. Was really fun to do. I really enjoyed it. It was wonderful.

:25:46.:25:51.

A bit prize to be at the front. I really liked it, it was really fun.

:25:52.:25:57.

I can't sing anything else! CHEERING

:25:58.:26:07.

So what is all this craziness for? Well, I can tell you the last Comic

:26:08.:26:11.

Relief, the people of East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire raised upwards of

:26:12.:26:15.

?600,000 and I can also tell you that since then a total of 81 grants

:26:16.:26:23.

have been made totalling ?414,700 in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. You

:26:24.:26:26.

also know now who will be answering your call when you make your

:26:27.:26:32.

donations tonight, so say hello, everybody! Hello! Happy Red Nose Day

:26:33.:26:38.

and thank you to the staff here for doing their bit for Comic Relief.

:26:39.:26:41.

Have a cheer. CHEERING

:26:42.:26:47.

Thank you to the call takers tonight and the people of Snaith, that was

:26:48.:26:48.

wonderful. Let's get a recap of the national
