Here on BBC One, it's time for the news where you are. | :00:00. | :00:08.
Bottled water for thousands of homes after a burst pipe | :00:09. | :00:16.
Took little time to find the main yesterday but it is actually under | :00:17. | :00:20.
the river a little down the road, which is going to cause significant | :00:21. | :00:23.
And how sport is helping tackle high suicide rates among young men. | :00:24. | :00:40.
Plenty of sunshine today but what about the rest of the week? Join | :00:41. | :00:43.
before the forecast. Work to reconnect hundreds | :00:44. | :00:47.
of homes in Lincolnshire - which have been without water | :00:48. | :00:50.
since yesterday morning is being hampered because | :00:51. | :00:52.
the leak is under a river. Hundreds of people who live | :00:53. | :00:55.
in the Wolds have been told it will now be tomorrow morning | :00:56. | :00:58.
at the earliest before they have | :00:59. | :01:01.
running water again. Supplies were affected | :01:02. | :01:04.
in 16 villages, where bottled water | :01:05. | :01:07.
is being given to those affected. Phillip, have many people | :01:08. | :01:14.
been coming for water? More than 24 hours since the | :01:15. | :01:28.
problems first began, the loss of water supply to this part of | :01:29. | :01:33.
Lincolnshire is still causing problems. As I've been driving | :01:34. | :01:37.
around tonight, I've seen many people going to the water stations | :01:38. | :01:45.
set up at Village halls and pubs across the area, picking up water so | :01:46. | :01:50.
that they can cook and wash. There is now a promise of more to come | :01:51. | :01:58.
overnight. It was bottled water that kept the coffee and tea flowing at | :01:59. | :02:03.
this pub today. Tonight, some water returned to the taps. Tonight it | :02:04. | :02:09.
wasn't too bad. In the afternoon, they started to get things sorted | :02:10. | :02:14.
out. They charged the system and it's been a lot better since about | :02:15. | :02:21.
without pressure. Anglian Water has without pressure. Anglian Water has | :02:22. | :02:27.
set up water stations and send out supplies to customers. A steady | :02:28. | :02:36.
stream of locals picked up water through the night. There is a | :02:37. | :02:41.
trickle in the tab but I don't think there'll be any in the morning. It | :02:42. | :02:47.
has been caused by a break in a pipe that flows under a river. They set | :02:48. | :02:55.
up a new temporary pipe today. We do like to apologise to all our | :02:56. | :02:59.
customers who have been inconvenienced by this. In terms of | :03:00. | :03:03.
re-routing and engineering work, it's been a successful day and | :03:04. | :03:06.
wearing as good a place as we'd hoped to be at this time. The only | :03:07. | :03:14.
thing flowing properly here was the beer. The hope is it will return to | :03:15. | :03:19.
normal overnight. I've been speaking to Anglian Water and they say that | :03:20. | :03:23.
the system around here is gravity fed and a pipe that fractured under | :03:24. | :03:28.
the River feeds a main reservoir and as a result, the level in the | :03:29. | :03:34.
reservoir dropped and the villages downhill lost water supply. As a | :03:35. | :03:38.
result of the workmen today re-routing the supply, that main | :03:39. | :03:42.
rivers of art has been topping up. When it got to a certain level, some | :03:43. | :03:51.
villages started getting supply back on line. It is the main Flint Hill | :03:52. | :03:55.
reservoir. They are hoping that the system will sort itself out and | :03:56. | :04:01.
pressure will rebuild as everyone goes to bed tonight. Hopefully, they | :04:02. | :04:08.
say some form of normality will return tomorrow. | :04:09. | :04:10.
A man from Hull whose son tried to take his own life says men | :04:11. | :04:14.
need more help to talk about their problems. | :04:15. | :04:16.
Geoff Bielby's son Jonathan is recovering from what his family | :04:17. | :04:18.
The latest figures show that in England, more than 3,600 men | :04:19. | :04:24.
In the East Midlands, which includes Lincolnshire, | :04:25. | :04:29.
While in Yorkshire and the Humber, there were 422 suicides in men, | :04:30. | :04:37.
meaning our area has some of the highest rates | :04:38. | :04:39.
Geoff has been speaking to our reporter Matt Dean | :04:40. | :04:45.
about his family's experience and how he found help | :04:46. | :04:48.
I was looking forward to the start of the football season. | :04:49. | :04:55.
"Drop everything, Jonathan's been rushed into hospital." | :04:56. | :04:59.
Up until then, Geoff Bielby had no idea his son | :05:00. | :05:02.
To him, he was just a carefree lad in his 30s but that day | :05:03. | :05:07.
His partner, his close friends, and his family, had no inkling | :05:08. | :05:14.
whatsoever and that's one of the saddest thing is that it's | :05:15. | :05:18.
not uncommon for men to bottle any anxiety or depression up. | :05:19. | :05:23.
Kids fall over, they scrape their knees and you say | :05:24. | :05:25.
All of those sort of classic phrases that mean | :05:26. | :05:32.
Thanks to the formation of Blokes United. | :05:33. | :05:39.
We just want men to realise that they can talk. | :05:40. | :05:43.
If the door to get blokes to talk is through sport, then great. | :05:44. | :05:48.
I've come out of drugs and alcohol problems, | :05:49. | :05:54.
To get them all in as one collective, under the same umbrella, | :05:55. | :06:01.
It's a great thing that they encourage trying out sports, | :06:02. | :06:08.
getting to know new people, I think that's fantastic, really. | :06:09. | :06:12.
Rugby League has joined football in offering something valuable | :06:13. | :06:17.
It's given them something to do, something to look forward | :06:18. | :06:22.
Monday, Tuesday, you're looking forward to Saturday. | :06:23. | :06:25.
I think it's good to support something like this. | :06:26. | :06:27.
Blokes United already seems to be working, | :06:28. | :06:32.
as those who have experienced dark times open up | :06:33. | :06:35.
I was in a pretty low place myself in October and I wanted | :06:36. | :06:44.
to share my story and I'd seen the publicity on Blokes United | :06:45. | :06:47.
and I just got in touch with father Phil Lamb and said, | :06:48. | :06:50.
can I come to a session and tell the guys about my story. | :06:51. | :06:53.
And it's those important stories which Blokes United are especially | :06:54. | :06:56.
Through their sessions in the city, they want to provide men | :06:57. | :06:59.
like Geoff and his son with a support they need. | :07:00. | :07:02.
A man has appeared in court following a series | :07:03. | :07:04.
There were a number of reports of attempted vehicle thefts | :07:05. | :07:09.
across Hull and East Yorkshire area on Friday morning - | :07:10. | :07:11.
police say they're still searching for a second man in connection | :07:12. | :07:14.
23 year old Leon Ndenu, will appear before Hull Crown court next month | :07:15. | :07:22.
charged with 12 offences, including robbery, | :07:23. | :07:24.
attempted robbery, assault, and firearms offences. | :07:25. | :07:27.
A vicar from Wetwang has been jailed for three years for sexually abusing | :07:28. | :07:30.
a boy 30 years ago while working as a headteacher. | :07:31. | :07:33.
63-year-old David Fletcher was working | :07:34. | :07:36.
in Bradford in the late 1980s when he committed the offences. | :07:37. | :07:39.
Fletcher was convicted of two counts of indecent assault but found not | :07:40. | :07:43.
Plans for a futuristic "hover train" that could travel from Hull | :07:44. | :07:54.
to Liverpool in 29 minutes have been submitted | :07:55. | :07:56.
The company behind the proposal wants to create the "world's fastest | :07:57. | :08:00.
underground system" across the north of England using Maglev trains, | :08:01. | :08:02.
similar to this one, which can reach speeds | :08:03. | :08:04.
Transport for the North says the plans need more development. | :08:05. | :08:13.
A vegan chef who runs cookery classes from an East Yorkshire | :08:14. | :08:16.
pig farm is joining names like Mary Berry and James Martin | :08:17. | :08:19.
Katy Beskow from Beverley is also a vegan blogger and is hoping | :08:20. | :08:28.
to become a household name in the world of cooking. | :08:29. | :08:30.
Farming is a big part of life on the Yorkshire Wolds, and these | :08:31. | :08:34.
So promoting meat and dairy free food here could be a hard sell | :08:35. | :08:39.
but that is exactly what vegan chef Katie Bescow is trying to do. | :08:40. | :08:43.
It's not just a packet of beans these days. | :08:44. | :08:47.
I think it shows that people are really looking | :08:48. | :08:51.
to try something new, whether they are from a farming | :08:52. | :08:54.
background or eat meat, and actually, people don't have | :08:55. | :08:56.
to be fully vegan to appreciate vegan or vegetarian food. | :08:57. | :08:58.
Her name will soon be on the book shelves next to Mary Berry | :08:59. | :09:05.
and James Martin and her vegan cookery classes near | :09:06. | :09:07.
Do you ever get any hostility or people really | :09:08. | :09:13.
People are always really determined to try it. | :09:14. | :09:18.
And when they give it a go, they absolutely love it. | :09:19. | :09:21.
Famous fans of a vegan diet include Beyonce | :09:22. | :09:23.
So could it take off in an East Yorkshire | :09:24. | :09:28.
People around here seem to like all sorts of different foods. | :09:29. | :09:34.
It's too different at my time of life. | :09:35. | :09:37.
It might not be for everyone but with a book | :09:38. | :09:46.
deal and thousands of social media followers, Katie is proving that | :09:47. | :09:49.
there is a global appetite for a meat free menu. | :09:50. | :10:00.
Let's get a look at the weather - here's Paul with the forecast. | :10:01. | :10:06.
A nice day to come tomorrow thanks to a ridge of high pressure. A damp | :10:07. | :10:15.
start on Wednesday but the rest of Wednesday and Thursday look fine | :10:16. | :10:18.
with good spells of sunshine particularly on Thursday. Most of us | :10:19. | :10:29.
have it fine, just the chance of a few showers. Tomorrow, plenty of | :10:30. | :10:33.
sunshine, staying dry and bright with a good deal of sunshine. The | :10:34. | :10:38.
weather front won't bring any rain until tomorrow night. Damp start on | :10:39. | :10:46.
Wednesday, soon drying out. That's it from | :10:47. | :10:47.
cool, it will be windy at times as well and still rather unsettled with | :10:48. | :11:06.
some blustery showers around. That's the London forecast and now for the | :11:07. | :11:09.
National forecast, over to Nick Miller. | :11:10. | :11:18.
North-west France and Plymouth were miles apart weather-wise. This | :11:19. | :11:25.
southern flank in north-west France there was a wind gusts of 120 mph | :11:26. | :11:30.
which we just dodged. That area of low pressure continues to move | :11:31. | :11:33.
quickly south-eastwards so that by tomorrow it is in Italy on its | :11:34. | :11:37.
southern flank, stormy in Sardinia and around it strong winds blowing | :11:38. | :11:42.
through south-east France. We've got a little bump in the ice bars with | :11:43. | :11:46.
lighter winds, a brief ridge of high pressure, things briefly settled | :11:47. | :11:49.
going into tomorrow, overnight there are some showers around moving | :11:50. | :11:53.
through western Scotland and north-west England and the Midlands, | :11:54. | :11:56.
clearing Wales, one or two in the east, the North Sea tip of high | :11:57. | :11:58.
pressure, | :11:59. | :12:00. |
