Here on BBC One, it's time for the news where you are.

:00:00.:00:00.

The headlines from BBC Look North this Thursday night:

:00:00.:00:08.

Campaigners' anger as health bosses confirm they want to close or reduce

:00:09.:00:11.

services at half of East Yorkshire's minor injuries units.

:00:12.:00:17.

This is a ridiculous situation we find

:00:18.:00:21.

ourselves in now - no minor injuries unit in Hornsey.

:00:22.:00:26.

The MP for Lincoln insists he's done nothing wrong

:00:27.:00:28.

And there are claims the cheapest option flood defences for Hull

:00:29.:00:34.

will block waterfront views, for all but the tallest people.

:00:35.:00:39.

And some more unsettled weather heading our way, some spells of both

:00:40.:00:42.

wet but especially windy weather as we head through the next few days.

:00:43.:00:45.

I'll be back later in the programme with all the details.

:00:46.:01:01.

Half of the Minor Injuries Units in East Yorkshire are to close

:01:02.:01:05.

or reduce their service, in a move which has been condemned

:01:06.:01:08.

Hornsea's unit will close entirely, while patients will no longer

:01:09.:01:14.

be able to just walk in at Withernsea and Driffield.

:01:15.:01:17.

Health officials say they can provide a better service

:01:18.:01:20.

with Centralised Urgent Care units in Beverley, Bridlington and Goole.

:01:21.:01:23.

Protesters trying to keep Hornsea's minor-injuries unit alive.

:01:24.:01:32.

It is really important that we retain the MIU.

:01:33.:01:35.

But it now seems certain that the MIU could be

:01:36.:01:37.

Campaigners are furious with those who have taken this decision.

:01:38.:01:43.

Why do you think you know so much more than we do?

:01:44.:01:48.

The point is that none of these people live in rural areas.

:01:49.:01:51.

They live close to minor injury urgent care centres.

:01:52.:01:56.

The new urgent-care centres at Beverley, Bridlington and Goole

:01:57.:02:03.

would all be open for 16 hours a day, 365 days a year,

:02:04.:02:07.

and would offer a consistent range of advice and treatment,

:02:08.:02:10.

If approved, the three centres would also be supported by low-level

:02:11.:02:15.

minor-injury units at Driffield and Withernsea hospitals, but you

:02:16.:02:19.

According to the plans, Hornsea will have no MIU.

:02:20.:02:26.

We looked at numbers and after breaking them down

:02:27.:02:28.

we saw that many of them could have been treated at

:02:29.:02:31.

home with advice and guidance, many of them were repeat visits

:02:32.:02:34.

for wound and that falls into planned care not urgent care needs.

:02:35.:02:39.

So really it was unsustainable to have another urgent care centre

:02:40.:02:41.

Campaigners are promising further protests like this, if the

:02:42.:02:47.

CCG's governing body approved these plans next week.

:02:48.:02:56.

The Conservative MP who represents Withernsea and Hornsea,

:02:57.:02:58.

Graham Stuart, has led protests against the changes.

:02:59.:03:02.

Protesters have been passionate but in reality only ten patients use

:03:03.:03:11.

this service a day in Hornsea and Withernsea.

:03:12.:03:13.

Is it not a waste of money to keep it open?

:03:14.:03:16.

And it's about planning services and utilising it so we have

:03:17.:03:21.

a health club, that's what happens in Lincolnshire and other parts of

:03:22.:03:25.

The special needs of urban centres are met, why can't the

:03:26.:03:35.

needs of centres like Hornsey and Withernsea?

:03:36.:03:37.

needs of centres like Hornsea and Withernsea?

:03:38.:03:39.

That's what I'm calling for an that's why I'm particularly

:03:40.:03:41.

disappointed that the way the consultation was conducted,

:03:42.:03:43.

I complained to the CCG about it, but despite

:03:44.:03:46.

that it is clear that 90% plus of people

:03:47.:03:49.

in Holderness oppose the

:03:50.:03:50.

Politicians never want to close a hospital or

:03:51.:03:57.

But these changes could actually improve

:03:58.:04:03.

services and stop patchy opening times across the minor injuries

:04:04.:04:05.

You have to remember that the proposal

:04:06.:04:10.

was to close the MIUs at both Hornsea and Withernsea.

:04:11.:04:12.

That would mean people would have to travel out

:04:13.:04:14.

of area, and if you look at Withernsea, it's got

:04:15.:04:17.

ownerships in the country, is got an ageing population and a lot of

:04:18.:04:21.

Protesters have said that they will take this

:04:22.:04:24.

Is this something you are going to be pursuing now with Jeremy Hunt?

:04:25.:04:28.

I have spoken to Sir Greg Knight who is also opposed to these proposals

:04:29.:04:31.

and, jointly, we will be writing to the chairman

:04:32.:04:34.

of the Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee of the

:04:35.:04:37.

Council, because they have the statutory power to refer the matter

:04:38.:04:40.

to the Secretary of State and to the Independent

:04:41.:04:42.

And Greg and I jointly will be calling upon the committee to

:04:43.:04:46.

Lincoln's MP Karl McCartney has said he acted "honestly and properly"

:04:47.:04:57.

when it came to his expenses during the 2015 election campaign.

:04:58.:05:04.

12 police forces - including Lincolnshire -

:05:05.:05:06.

have asked the Crown Prosecution Service to consider charges

:05:07.:05:08.

in connection with a Tory battlebus tour in 2015.

:05:09.:05:10.

More from our political editor Tim Iredale.

:05:11.:05:17.

The 2015 general election was the closest for many years.

:05:18.:05:21.

The Tories and Labour sent their big hitters to Lincoln -

:05:22.:05:24.

The Conservatives also had a battlebus tour -

:05:25.:05:35.

where party activists travelled the country to support

:05:36.:05:36.

Today, the organisation which regulates party finances -

:05:37.:05:41.

the Electoral Commission - ruled the Conservatives had failed

:05:42.:05:44.

to declare thousands of pounds they'd spend on the battlebus tour.

:05:45.:05:48.

At the heart of the controversy is whether expenses for the road

:05:49.:05:52.

trip were declared as part of the national campaign,

:05:53.:05:54.

when they should have been declared by the local party.

:05:55.:05:58.

?70,000 is the highest fine that we've ever issued and that

:05:59.:06:07.

represents offences and contraventions across five

:06:08.:06:08.

So we've never issued fines to that extent before.

:06:09.:06:11.

In statement today, Lincoln's MP Karl McCartney said:

:06:12.:06:26.

12 police forces - including Lincolnshire Police -

:06:27.:06:29.

have sent files to the Crown Prosecution Service which must

:06:30.:06:32.

decide whether charges are to be brought against MPs

:06:33.:06:35.

If prosecutions do go-ahead, then it could lead to elections

:06:36.:06:40.

Karl McCartney says he acted honestly and

:06:41.:06:46.

properly throughout the election campaign, as did his election agent.

:06:47.:06:50.

The Crown Prosecution Service now has until June to decide

:06:51.:06:54.

whether charges should be brought in connection with this matter.

:06:55.:07:02.

New flood defences along Hull's waterfront need to be more

:07:03.:07:05.

That's the message from residents on one of the city's housing

:07:06.:07:10.

estates who say the area could be permanently damaged.

:07:11.:07:14.

They're worried that the Environment Agency will only offer the most

:07:15.:07:17.

cost effective design - which could be a basic wall,

:07:18.:07:21.

Hull has a spectacular views across an estuary. Just imagine replacing

:07:22.:07:54.

them with 6-foot concrete walls that would be higher than I am. That is

:07:55.:07:58.

what some period where it agency is proposing. There are alternatives

:07:59.:08:06.

though. Here in pool a glass wall has been set up. The question is

:08:07.:08:11.

about cost. That will have cost a bit more than regular flood

:08:12.:08:15.

defences. The question for some then is whether or not you want flood

:08:16.:08:19.

defences versus scenic views and the answer for many

:08:20.:08:19.

is easy. I'd rather have something that looks

:08:20.:08:23.

nice, without a doubt. But I'm pragmatic

:08:24.:08:25.

as well - I know the Government keep telling us

:08:26.:08:27.

they've no money, you know? It's like everything

:08:28.:08:30.

in your own life - you have to buy things

:08:31.:08:33.

that you can afford. Most river frontage

:08:34.:08:35.

will be bog-standard Environment Agency basic

:08:36.:08:38.

standard protection. But, there are clearly -

:08:39.:08:41.

we've got the view over your shoulder - there are clearly places

:08:42.:08:44.

where there is going to have to be a little more money put

:08:45.:08:47.

in and a better provision. Well the Environment Agency has told

:08:48.:08:55.

us tonight that their plans for the Humber defences,

:08:56.:08:58.

which followed in the wake of 2013's tidal surge,

:08:59.:09:00.

are still open to consultation - and will go before

:09:01.:09:02.

the public next month. I'm sure there is some brig over

:09:03.:09:09.

here but that is what people will be looking for particularly when it

:09:10.:09:10.

comes to negotiating with the comes to negotiating with the

:09:11.:09:14.

Government over those crucial costs. And taking a look at whether or not

:09:15.:09:18.

there could be, certainly in areas like this, some sort of scenic

:09:19.:09:19.

solution. The first poppies have

:09:20.:09:23.

been installed at the The sculpture called

:09:24.:09:27.

'Weeping Window' will feature thousands of handmade ceramic

:09:28.:09:30.

poppies and commemorate those There has been a big announcement

:09:31.:09:32.

today about a top name to play at Radio One's Big Weekend

:09:33.:09:40.

in Hull in May. Katy Perry will join

:09:41.:09:49.

Little Mix and Kings of Leon for the weekend festival to be held

:09:50.:09:55.

at Burton Constable Hall. And we'll let you know when tickets

:09:56.:10:07.

are available for that. Let's take a look at the

:10:08.:10:08.

We had a few spots of rain through this evening.

:10:09.:10:13.

A few more tomorrow, but the general theme is one

:10:14.:10:15.

of an unsettled weekend with some spells of wet and windy weather.

:10:16.:10:18.

Out there at the moment any remaining patchy rain and drizzle

:10:19.:10:20.

will clear away, and actually a fine night but a chilly one with clear

:10:21.:10:24.

spells, and a touch of frost is quite possible out in the

:10:25.:10:27.

countryside where temperatures could dip back to around three degrees.

:10:28.:10:31.

So, tomorrow, a chilly start to the day, perhaps some morning

:10:32.:10:34.

sunshine but you can see how cloud increases from the north.

:10:35.:10:37.

A little bit of patchy light rain or drizzle is possible, some

:10:38.:10:40.

It will be rather blustery tomorrow, a fresh to strong south-westerly

:10:41.:10:45.

Not a total wash-out, but further spells

:10:46.:10:50.

of wet and windy weather for the weekend.

:10:51.:10:56.

That's it from us for tonight. We are back tomorrow. Good night now.

:10:57.:11:03.

there will be rain around, most occurring overnight.

:11:04.:11:10.

Good evening, quite a range of whether an offer earlier today in

:11:11.:11:15.

the north and north-west of the UK quite a lot of showers around,

:11:16.:11:18.

lively ones, little bit of sunshine in between. The best of the sunshine

:11:19.:11:22.

to be found at the other end of the country towards the south-east in

:11:23.:11:26.

Kent, lovely picture here from one of our weather watchers. A range of

:11:27.:11:30.

temperatures, too. 17 degrees for a few, on the other side of the

:11:31.:11:34.

weather front, only seven or 8 degrees. Showers in the north and

:11:35.:11:38.

west. The fresh air will win out over tonight coming in behind the

:11:39.:11:42.

cold front, which isn't bringing much rain but it will bring

:11:43.:11:43.
