People who abuse travellers and gypsies online are told

they will not get away with it by police.

It is like it is the last community in this country where people feel

they can say that kind of thing with immunity. Well, they are not going

in the media as unwelcome visitors. And when travellers

recently pitched up near Hull the anger of some locals

erupted on social media. Many posted abusive

comments online, ranging from calling travellers vermin

to threats to harm them. People have been writing

things in encouraging people to burn out these caravans

with women and children inside. If people threatened

to burn down churches, synagogues and mosques,

people would rightly crying out that But with gypsies and

travellers it is like they are the last community where

people feel they can say that kind This is one of the trailers that

is very damaging. It makes me feel fearful

for my children, my grandchildren. It makes me feel separate

from the rest of the community. It is very debilitating

for young people, most of whom are online,

right across the area from Grimsby to Goole about the mess

left by some travellers and gypsies. While there are some permanent sites

there are no specific stopover places in Hull, Northern

Lincolnshire or East Yorkshire. The council have failed

in their obligation So families do not have an option

you might call bad apples. For the Humberside Police

and Crime Commissioner, We must draw a line in the sand

and say it is not acceptable for anybody to use threatening

and abusive language. Police are warning anybody

found posting hate filled comments about gypsies

in Hull and Immingham. ABP says it will put in new cranes

the introduction of new laws to help police stop people who try to groom

youngsters through social The new powers mean officers will be

able to intervene earlier before any There were 93 reports last year

branch of the NSPCC. I asked her what impact these

children is so important. So us as parents and

professionals need to speak to children early and often

about how to stay safe online. That is when they get their first

people and not enough We want children to be as safe

in the online world as the Perpetrators need to know that

if they do something which is illegal and inappropriate,

they will be prosecuted. Every parent is going to be

very interested in this. What's the best advice for them

if they have young children who sit and play in the bedroom

on their devices? Don't assume your child,

just because they are in the house, Talk to them about

what they like to do online, who they talk to online

and what they would do if they received a message that

worried or upset them. Let them know they can

come to you as a parent or another trusted adult

jailed for four years The ATM, containing nearly ?40,000,

from Southcoates Lane in Hull pleaded guilty to stealing a JCB

have not got anywhere to get any cash out. It is very distressing and

probably not the brains behind the operation but had nonetheless taken

part in a sophisticated crime. He sentenced him to four years in

prison and said he would spend at least half that time behind bars and

the rest in a community sentence. Thieves failed to escape

with the ?38,000 worth of cash in the machine,

but they caused ?68,000 worth I went to the chemist
