Safe haven - the resettled Syrian families hoping for a peaceful

:00:00.:00:00.

Special delivery - tens of thousands of Christmas cards

:00:07.:00:13.

continue to flood in for Bradley Lowery.

:00:14.:00:17.

Retread the boards ? a ?3 million revamp for an historic theatre.

:00:18.:00:23.

And the first cut is the kindest - free festive haircuts

:00:24.:00:26.

In rugby - there's a tough Christmas ahead for Newcastle Falcons.

:00:27.:00:31.

They face the three Premiership teams who're at the top of the tree.

:00:32.:00:35.

And we'll meet the young gymnasts - back home after a successful trip

:00:36.:00:38.

Their country's been torn apart by a brutal civil war,

:00:39.:00:57.

but hundreds of Syrian refugees have found sanctuary in our region.

:00:58.:01:01.

The Government's "vulnerable persons' resettlement programme."

:01:02.:01:04.

will offer new homes to 20,000 Syrians in the UK by 2020.

:01:05.:01:09.

Gateshead Council has taken 121 people so far,

:01:10.:01:13.

making it the local authority with the third highest

:01:14.:01:15.

But other councils in the region haven't taken a single refugee.

:01:16.:01:21.

Our News Correspondent Mark Denten met one Syrian family

:01:22.:01:23.

The Al Jamal family savouring the simple pleasures of Christmas.

:01:24.:01:30.

They fled from the Syrian capital Damascus as a war

:01:31.:01:33.

TRANSLATION: Every day is bombs and a different army in Syria.

:01:34.:01:44.

The family came to Gateshead under a government programme designed

:01:45.:01:51.

to bring 20,000 vulnerable Syrians to the UK by 2020.

:01:52.:02:00.

TRANSLATION: The war and the bombs very dangerous

:02:01.:02:05.

Her mother died from the war in her country.

:02:06.:02:16.

Overall 318 Syrians have now resettled in the north-east.

:02:17.:02:23.

Gateshead has taken 121, Newcastle 72 and Redcar and Cleveland 34.

:02:24.:02:31.

But both Middlesbrough and Stockton haven't taken any.

:02:32.:02:33.

Both councils say they already support a significant number

:02:34.:02:37.

The Government pays full resettlement costs under

:02:38.:02:43.

the scheme for a year, but are the Al Jamals

:02:44.:02:45.

in a house that could have gone to a local person?

:02:46.:02:48.

In terms of people really needing housing, having

:02:49.:02:53.

an urgent need for housing, we are able to respond.

:02:54.:02:56.

We need to meet the needs of the people of Gateshead

:02:57.:03:02.

The UK has taken in 0.1% of the total Syrian refugees

:03:03.:03:09.

How are these families selected for resettlement in the UK?

:03:10.:03:25.

They haven't just turned up on our doorsteps. They have been selected

:03:26.:03:31.

by the British government from refugee camps and places like

:03:32.:03:37.

Lebanon. They have been security ref -- security vetted there and come

:03:38.:03:40.

over here so they haven't just been come, they have been selected,

:03:41.:03:46.

partly to avoid the tragic scenes we have seen of people using

:03:47.:03:50.

overcrowded boats and with the tragic loss of life we have seen

:03:51.:03:57.

there. The Government will pay local authorities ?8,500 per refugee for

:03:58.:04:01.

the first year they are here. There are challenges ahead. After five

:04:02.:04:07.

years just drops to just ?1000 and some figures involved 10,000 school

:04:08.:04:12.

places according to the National Audit Office will be needed if we

:04:13.:04:13.

have those numbers by 2020. A bus driver who's been charged

:04:14.:04:18.

with causing the death of a pensioner in Darlington has

:04:19.:04:21.

appeared in court. 82-year-old Eileen Brennan

:04:22.:04:23.

died after the accident Michael Gilbert, of

:04:24.:04:25.

:04:26.:04:29.

Newton Aycliffe Magistrates and the case was adjourned

:04:30.:04:31.

to Teesside Crown Court in January. A County Durham man who siphoned

:04:32.:04:34.

over a quarter of a million pounds from the estates of deceased clients

:04:35.:04:39.

has been jailed for four years. 67-year-old John Dowson

:04:40.:04:42.

from Ingleton ran a will writing and probate business,

:04:43.:04:46.

but when his company hit financial trouble around six years

selling the family home Now, a restaurant offering more

:04:52.:04:57.

than just a good meal is set It's offering jobs to ex-offenders,

:04:58.:05:07.

the long term unemployed The Fork in the Road aims to fill

:05:08.:05:10.

20% of its posts with people who find it difficult to find jobs

:05:11.:05:17.

because of a past prison sentence - It's the idea of Teesside charity

:05:18.:05:20.

leader and businessman Andy Preston, who claims it'll be the first

:05:21.:05:27.

in the country. Our Business Correspondent

:05:28.:05:29.

Ian Reeve reports. It may not look like it,

:05:30.:05:34.

but Middlesbrough's newest bar, cafe and restaurant is due to open

:05:35.:05:36.

on Christmas Eve. So I think initially it was your

:05:37.:05:40.

idea to have the performers here. I think we can do that a few nights

:05:41.:05:45.

a week, all kinds of acts. And the man behind it

:05:46.:05:49.

sincerely hopes it will. It's a venture, he says,

:05:50.:05:52.

that is desperately needed. The aim here is to have 20%

:05:53.:05:56.

of the staff made up of former offenders,

:05:57.:05:58.

long term unemployed What we're going to do

:05:59.:06:02.

is give people a chance who want to rebuild their life,

:06:03.:06:06.

to really have a go at that. And if we can get just a small

:06:07.:06:10.

number to improve their lives, rejoin society, pay tax,

:06:11.:06:15.

that's a beautiful thing. At just 18, this is his first job

:06:16.:06:19.

after nearly two years in a young I didn't think I was going

:06:20.:06:24.

to get a job, but Andy 's Being told that it could lead to me

:06:25.:06:30.

getting a better job. As well as full time jobs, such

:06:31.:06:34.

as here in the restaurant kitchen, volunteers are being recruited

:06:35.:06:41.

for a bar that won't serve alcohol. Referred here by

:06:42.:06:46.

a Middlesbrough-based We work with many people

:06:47.:06:49.

from all different backgrounds, they've got a lot of skills,

:06:50.:06:53.

a lot of experience, qualifications, but they just need that first step

:06:54.:06:56.

to help back into the arena of work. But what do other staff make

:06:57.:07:02.

of working alongside those with past or current issues of offending

:07:03.:07:13.

or addiction? I have I think the area really will benefit

:07:14.:07:15.

from something like this. Once you've served your time,

:07:16.:07:19.

to move on and be able to be given To put that into practice,

:07:20.:07:23.

this place needs to open Now, he's the little lad

:07:24.:07:26.

from County Durham who's really unlocked the spirit

:07:27.:07:36.

of Christmas in 2016. Five-year-old Bradley Lowery has

:07:37.:07:38.

neuroblastoma but his cheerful smile and thumbs-up have endeared him

:07:39.:07:40.

to hundreds of thousands Adopted by Sunderland

:07:41.:07:42.

as their mascot at two high-profile games, football fans started

:07:43.:07:49.

sending him Christmas cards and he's Well, tonight that total has surged

:07:50.:07:52.

again with further truckloads of mail delivered to his home

:07:53.:08:02.

village of Blackhall Colliery. Wow, look exactly. This is a story

:08:03.:08:18.

that has captured people's hearts. As we already know this little boy

:08:19.:08:22.

has received thousands of cards already and tonight here at the

:08:23.:08:25.

local community centre at the latest batch has been countered by this

:08:26.:08:32.

massive team of volunteers. We talk of 250,000 cards already received.

:08:33.:08:35.

There are rumours here tonight that a new world record is being set.

:08:36.:08:40.

Earlier Bradley and his mum were here and they told me what all this

:08:41.:08:45.

mentor them. It just means Bradley will leave a bit of a legacy and

:08:46.:08:48.

that means a lot because it is heartbreaking to supplement and

:08:49.:08:52.

everything but the sapling means he will leave this behind and hopefully

:08:53.:08:59.

help children in the same position as well. You are the friend that has

:09:00.:09:06.

organised all this, I guess this is exceeding your expectations? It

:09:07.:09:10.

really has. A short post on Facebook and the whole community has

:09:11.:09:13.

involved. Tell us about the new world record you think you have set.

:09:14.:09:18.

The world record last time I checked was 200 and 8000. At the moment just

:09:19.:09:23.

only post office cards we have had 230 4000. There are boxes of cards

:09:24.:09:30.

so we have well exceeded it. Clearly this is a difficult time for this

:09:31.:09:33.

family. What kind of difference do you think these cards are making? It

:09:34.:09:40.

makes the world of difference. We have but this place on the map with

:09:41.:09:45.

Bradley. A little five-year-old boy with a stool in the hearts of the

:09:46.:09:53.

world. People are taking -- -- has stolen the hearts of the world. What

:09:54.:09:59.

kind of things have people been saying in the cards? Jokes. People

:10:00.:10:04.

who have been through similar situations, some with good and bad

:10:05.:10:10.

results. People are saying they have been there and you will get through

:10:11.:10:15.

it. This has really brought the community together. It has. One post

:10:16.:10:21.

office book, one have said that they are coming to help us. It is a busy

:10:22.:10:25.

time of year and they have still taken the time to come and help. I

:10:26.:10:32.

can't thank them enough. With 250,000 cards already received the

:10:33.:10:35.

new record could be confirmed soon. It is making a real difference to

:10:36.:10:40.

this family. Absolutely, thank you. I hope there is a few selection

:10:41.:10:46.

boxes in there. You would like that, Bradley, wouldn't you?

:10:47.:10:48.

Now, Peggy Ashcroft, Cleo Laine and even a young

:10:49.:10:51.

A Cumbrian theatre built by a flamboyant Hungarian will soon

:10:52.:10:57.

Almost ?3 million has been spent giving the Rosehill Theatre

:10:58.:11:00.

Built in an age before hard hats and hi-vis,

:11:01.:11:08.

Rosehill was once at the centre of Britain's theatrical circuit.

:11:09.:11:10.

Today plans to bring it back into the limelight

:11:11.:11:12.

We go through here, which is the main new entrance,

:11:13.:11:16.

whether you are coming into the theatre or the restaurant

:11:17.:11:18.

This is the box office reception area there.

:11:19.:11:22.

A lift to go up to the first floor and the second floor,

:11:23.:11:25.

the second floor has the restaurant, the kitchen and restaurant

:11:26.:11:27.

with the terrace looking over the Solway Firth.

:11:28.:11:29.

There are still some challenges ahead in getting everything

:11:30.:11:36.

open and up and running, but very exciting and all the more

:11:37.:11:39.

so because of the great community engagement,

:11:40.:11:40.

the great community support behind it.

:11:41.:11:43.

A much loved facility community, fundraising and donations have

:11:44.:11:46.

Now it's hoped the new restaurant will drive commercial

:11:47.:11:52.

revenue and the theatre will regain its position

:11:53.:11:54.

I think it will change the attitude to culture and performing

:11:55.:12:01.

It is an absolute jewel in the crown of the area and we expect to have

:12:02.:12:07.

top international artists here as well as community

:12:08.:12:09.

The theatre was the idea of Sir Nicholas Sekers,

:12:10.:12:15.

a Hungarian immigrant who founded West Cumbria's once

:12:16.:12:17.

He worked with Oliver Messel, one of the foremost stage designers

:12:18.:12:23.

of the 20th century, to create Rosehill's

:12:24.:12:26.

Early doors, this project, we decided to leave the stage

:12:27.:12:32.

and auditorium as they were, not only because it is the jewel

:12:33.:12:36.

in the crown, the centre of it all, but if you change the geometry

:12:37.:12:39.

of the place, one might as well have knocked it down and started again.

:12:40.:12:42.

The seats have gone down to near Warrington to be refurbished.

:12:43.:12:46.

The Sekers fabric that is on the walls, it will all come down

:12:47.:12:50.

and be replaced by a new generation of Sekers fabrics.

:12:51.:12:52.

We have also got, rather wonderfully in the stalls, an orchestra pit,

:12:53.:12:56.

a small orchestra pit, so it has been given

:12:57.:12:58.

a new lease of life based on this remarkable history.

:12:59.:13:01.

The theatre is expected to reopen early next year.

:13:02.:13:10.

Still to come - Jeff has the sport and we meet the barber who's

:13:11.:13:14.

providing Christmas haircuts for the homeless.

:13:15.:13:16.

Walking netball is the slower version for women who want

:13:17.:13:22.

Batten down the hatches. A stormy run-up to Christmas. Join me shortly

:13:23.:13:35.

with the full forecast. Join me shortly with

:13:36.:13:36.

the full forecast. This week we've been bringing

:13:37.:13:38.

you stories featuring ordinary Tonight we meet a Newcastle barber

:13:39.:13:40.

who's turning over his business on Christmas Eve to give free

:13:41.:13:44.

haircuts to the homeless. Paul Lishman says it's about helping

:13:45.:13:47.

people keep their dignity, at a time when others

:13:48.:13:50.

are concentrating on He's also persuaded local

:13:51.:13:53.

businesses to get involved - It's just a normal working day

:13:54.:13:56.

for Paul Lishman, but this Because on Christmas Eve

:13:57.:14:02.

he and a female colleague will offer their services

:14:03.:14:08.

to homeless men and women, for free. He says he got the idea

:14:09.:14:11.

from watching this There is not enough charities that

:14:12.:14:26.

deal with the homeless in Newcastle or anywhere else in the city. There

:14:27.:14:29.

is nowhere for them to go on Christmas Eve.

:14:30.:14:30.

It's a simple gesture, but not one Paul has seen

:14:31.:14:33.

If me and my mum goes shopping she always gives them a favour and she

:14:34.:14:42.

feels so guilty about sit, so she always give them money. -- five. I

:14:43.:14:51.

always think, give them a free haircut, give them a free shave.

:14:52.:14:52.

Paul has also recruited local businesses, who will bring food,

:14:53.:14:54.

clothing and toiletries to donate on the day.

:14:55.:14:56.

Those who work with the homeless are full of praise.

:14:57.:14:59.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing, but one person can have that thought and the

:15:00.:15:08.

whole person -- process is snowballing. It makes you realise

:15:09.:15:10.

how lucky you are spending Christmas but Lawson and if you spend a few

:15:11.:15:15.

hours making someone else's Christmas a little bit better you

:15:16.:15:19.

have done a good job. All through the year these people are invisible,

:15:20.:15:24.

they step over them and step around them and they are people with

:15:25.:15:28.

dignity and self-respect and it matters to them, it matters that

:15:29.:15:31.

they look mate and that they dump the commerce. -- if they don't look

:15:32.:15:35.

homeless. You can find Paul's barber shop

:15:36.:15:37.

near Newcastle's central library. They'll offer as many free haircuts

:15:38.:15:39.

and shaves as they can A lot of people give to charity but

:15:40.:15:47.

not enough people give something back and do it themselves. They

:15:48.:15:54.

think I will throw ?30 or ?40 there, but poll is doing it, he doesn't

:15:55.:15:57.

know how many people are going to turn up. -- Pol.

:15:58.:16:01.

Now, you may have heard of walking football ? well,

:16:02.:16:04.

A team sport for people who don't want to go full pelt -

:16:05.:16:09.

and it's taking off in Northumberland.

:16:10.:16:10.

The Wentworth Leisure Centre in Hexham now has a weekly match

:16:11.:16:13.

for people of all ages, abilities and fitness.

:16:14.:16:15.

A lot of us get to an age where we can't lay netball. It is amazing how

:16:16.:16:44.

quickly you can walk when you're chasing a ball. It doesn't mean you

:16:45.:16:50.

push yourself. It is part of being a team again. With the age I am and

:16:51.:16:54.

giving up work and not giving up exercise. It is great. I tried aqua

:16:55.:16:59.

fit which I enjoyed but you don't seem to get the work-out. And I

:17:00.:17:04.

leave here I am absolutely worked. Perhaps that is because it is just

:17:05.:17:10.

too tempting to perhaps just break into the tiniest of runs. But

:17:11.:17:15.

enthusiasm is key especially when you consider how many years it is

:17:16.:17:22.

since these women played netball. 15. 26. 32. 56. 52. Seven. 44. Last

:17:23.:17:37.

night. Last week someone had a pedometer on their arm and they

:17:38.:17:40.

walked two miles and that was unbelievable because you don't feel

:17:41.:17:44.

like you walk the distance at all. It is designed for people who have

:17:45.:17:48.

come back from injury forced to want to exercise but don't want to go to

:17:49.:17:52.

the gym. They want to play sports or they might be really tired from

:17:53.:17:57.

sport. They just want to exercise but it is very recreational so it is

:17:58.:18:02.

all about the cup of tea at the end and making new friends and having a

:18:03.:18:07.

laugh and the ability to do it at your own level.

:18:08.:18:23.

It is pacey. How come you were only watching? I didn't have my trainers.

:18:24.:18:35.

Talking of movement, managers on the move. Alan Pardew the former

:18:36.:18:38.

Newcastle manager sacked by Crystal Palace. The big money is on some

:18:39.:18:43.

holiday sticking over. It could get interesting. We will start with

:18:44.:18:45.

Rugby Union. Newcastle Falcons are

:18:46.:18:46.

currently seventh in rugby union's Premiership -

:18:47.:18:48.

enjoying their best start But the festive period

:18:49.:18:50.

may not deliver much in the way of good cheer

:18:51.:18:53.

- or points. Fresh from an impressive win over

:18:54.:18:55.

Lyons in the European Challenge Cup, Dean Richards' side face

:18:56.:18:58.

the league's top three teams over First up it's a 600-mile

:18:59.:19:00.

round trip to leaders The Falcons have celebrated some big

:19:01.:19:06.

wins this season including beating Harlequins and Northampton,

:19:07.:19:13.

but Sarries don't concede many points and will

:19:14.:19:14.

punish every mistake. I think what is good about them is

:19:15.:19:24.

that they go about their job and they do it relentlessly and

:19:25.:19:28.

accurately. They don't make many mistakes, they have a game plan that

:19:29.:19:32.

something is boring but actually is really effective and it enables them

:19:33.:19:36.

to win games so they go about it and they don't deviate from it at all so

:19:37.:19:41.

any after Fraser quite easy to put prepare for but you have to be right

:19:42.:19:43.

on your game to make it happen. Easy to prepare for

:19:44.:19:44.

but not easy to beat. And although a Christmas Eve trip

:19:45.:19:46.

to Allianz Park may not be on everyone's wish list,

:19:47.:19:49.

it means the players will at least be able to enjoy

:19:50.:19:51.

Christmas Day for a change. I can have a bit of Bucks fizz in

:19:52.:19:58.

the morning which would be nice. It will be good to make a real

:19:59.:20:04.

difference, Christmas is fun as well, it is good for the young kids

:20:05.:20:08.

and you can relax and not worry about eating too much for playing on

:20:09.:20:14.

Boxing Day. You can have it proper Christmas dinner? I can have two if

:20:15.:20:18.

I want. I don't have to worry about the next

:20:19.:20:19.

Overeating will be the least of their worries with clashes

:20:20.:20:22.

against second-placed Wasps and third-placed Bath,

:20:23.:20:23.

who've both beaten the Falcons heavily this season, to follow.

:20:24.:20:25.

On to football, and the Middlesbrough winger Viktor Fischer

:20:26.:20:28.

is out of the club's Christmas and New Year programme

:20:29.:20:30.

The damage the 22-year-old suffered early in Saturday's 3-0

:20:31.:20:34.

Premier League win over Swansea is expected to keep

:20:35.:20:36.

him on the sidelines for up to three weeks.

:20:37.:20:39.

We'll have a full Boxing Day preview in tomorrow's Look North,

:20:40.:20:42.

when we'll follow Boro's players spreading a bit of goodwill

:20:43.:20:44.

Top of the table at Christmas guaranteed, Championship leaders

:20:45.:20:49.

Newcastle United face back-to-back home games before the New Year,

:20:50.:20:53.

starting with the tricky Boxing Day visit of sixth placed Sheffield

:20:54.:20:56.

Although the Magpies' away record is currently better,

:20:57.:21:01.

they have won seven out of ten league games at St James' Park,

:21:02.:21:04.

where the players appreciate the help the crowd can give them.

:21:05.:21:13.

Yeah, they have been there all season and it has been amazing

:21:14.:21:18.

playing at home. It has been a big boost for us it has been one of the

:21:19.:21:24.

main reasons we are top of the league. The support that they give

:21:25.:21:26.

us at home and away has been phenomenal so far and we just hope

:21:27.:21:33.

it continues and we can stay at the top of the league. Hopefully we can

:21:34.:21:36.

get the home fans going and enjoy Boxing Day.

A North Yorkshire gymnastics academy is celebrating

:21:40.:21:40.

after a successful trip to the European TeamGym

:21:41.:21:43.

Five of the Scarborough gymnasts - and their coach, Niki Walker -

:21:44.:21:48.

were making their British debuts at the international competition.

:21:49.:21:50.

Carla Fowler's been to the seaside town to learn

:21:51.:21:52.

This is where champions are made. In the training hall of a small club in

:21:53.:22:08.

Scarborough. For the very first time five local teenagers made selection

:22:09.:22:11.

for the Great Britain squad competing in the European TeamGym

:22:12.:22:15.

Championships just a couple of weeks ago. In the TeamGym Championships

:22:16.:22:21.

gymnasts compete as teams as teams rather than individuals. This year

:22:22.:22:25.

British gymnasts took their first medal. Ten gymnasts from Scarborough

:22:26.:22:30.

went to the first phase and gradually people dropped out. It was

:22:31.:22:37.

really hard work. We ended up with five representing Great Britain in

:22:38.:22:40.

the European Championships which is absolutely amazing. We are such a

:22:41.:22:44.

small club but we are getting fantastic results and we have got so

:22:45.:22:48.

many members. 13-year-old Brodie was one of the youngest members of the

:22:49.:22:52.

junior men's team that took a bronze medal for their powerful team

:22:53.:22:59.

performance. It was really overwhelming because we worked so

:23:00.:23:02.

hard towards it and going through so many phases, worked hard in the gym.

:23:03.:23:07.

To know the hard work has finally paid off was amazing. You are like a

:23:08.:23:11.

family when you are altogether. You get so much support from everyone

:23:12.:23:16.

and it is just more enjoyable and fun. Because of the squad training

:23:17.:23:22.

it help us prepare and we were all working together really well as a

:23:23.:23:26.

team. Nicky Walker was also selected as one of the national team coaches

:23:27.:23:31.

helping this year 's British squad smashed all previous records but it

:23:32.:23:34.

is not just their own skills these gymnasts are booming. I train four

:23:35.:23:39.

nights a week, two or three hours depending on the night and I coach

:23:40.:23:43.

as well here so I help some of the younger ones training to be gymnasts

:23:44.:23:48.

themselves. There are more than 300 young people in this one club, a new

:23:49.:23:53.

generation making team gymnastics the team sport of the future.

:23:54.:23:59.

Fantastic. I'm worn out! The weather forecast

:24:00.:24:01.

with Paul in a moment - but first here's a very impressive

:24:02.:24:03.

display of Christmas lights. This festive finery

:24:04.:24:06.

is in Burnopfield, County Durham. And believe it or not -

:24:07.:24:08.

it's all in just one garden! Take a bow, Derek and Elaine

:24:09.:24:11.

Armstrong, who are encouraging people to come and see the display -

:24:12.:24:15.

and make a donation But will all those lights be blown

:24:16.:24:18.

away tomorrow, Paul? That is the danger for your

:24:19.:24:34.

Christmas lights but keep the festive theme going with a couple of

:24:35.:24:39.

Christmas in County Durham pictures. A festive frosty starred in Beamish

Museum. And some festive holiday as well -- Holly. A stormy run-up to

Christmas. Windy and wet at times but relatively mild. Fairly quiet

overnight before that finally gets going. 12 showers. Some clear

:25:01.:25:04.

spells. The winds eventually freshen up but later in the night

:25:05.:25:09.

temperatures start to recover but temporarily down to three or four

:25:10.:25:14.

Celsius. Tomorrow the weather really gets its act together. We have the

:25:15.:25:19.

Met Office warning for strong winds, 60 or maybe 70 mph gusts and some

:25:20.:25:24.

heavy rain to go with that. It is Storm Barbara Spedding the wet and

:25:25.:25:28.

windy weather. These black arrows indicate the gust values. Anywhere

:25:29.:25:36.

could see 60 mph. Parts of Cumbria, Northumberland, western parts of

:25:37.:25:41.

anti-Durham could see 70 mph from time to time and for a time some

:25:42.:25:45.

heavy rain. -- County Durham. Some heavy rain in the afternoon leaving

:25:46.:25:52.

behind some bright spells. Temperatures are borrowing to 211

:25:53.:25:55.

Celsius but the dusty wind will cause problems if you are out and

:25:56.:26:00.

about tomorrow. It is all thanks to Storm Barbara. As the storm starts

:26:01.:26:08.

to clear away. It doesn't quieten down that much through Christmas Eve

:26:09.:26:11.

before the next front comes in through Christmas Day. In between

:26:12.:26:15.

the warm and cold front that Christmas Day it will be fairly mild

:26:16.:26:20.

and pretty windy. A wet and windy day for many of us tomorrow.

:26:21.:26:24.

Outbreaks of heavy rain through the middle part of the day. Gusty winds

:26:25.:26:30.

from the south or Southwest. These are the average wind speeds. Higher

:26:31.:26:36.

gusts. Another windy day on Saturday for Christmas Eve. Mostly dry. A few

:26:37.:26:40.

blustery showers but staying pretty blowy through the day and then windy

:26:41.:26:46.

again with a Met Office warning out for Christmas Day itself. Eventually

:26:47.:26:50.

some rain coming in to western parts late in the day. Temperatures of 13

:26:51.:26:56.

or 14 exceptionally mild for Christmas Day this year. Things do

:26:57.:26:59.

settle down as we head through Boxing Day and into next week and we

:27:00.:27:04.

will keep you up-to-date on the latest forecast of IOU BBC local

:27:05.:27:09.

radio station and of course the app and you can check out the latest

:27:10.:27:13.

forecast and warnings on BBC Weather website. Thank you. We have got one

:27:14.:27:21.

more item of news before we go. It is the York Minster spells, remedy

issues they have been having, they are ringing tonight for the first

:27:26.:27:31.

time in nearly three months. They were silenced when the bell ringing

team was removed in October. Join Paul and I for the latest news. For

:27:37.:27:39.

now goodbye. Let's make this the best
