A service has been held in Fleetwood on the North West coast

to mark the tenth anniversary of the Morecambe Bay

including three men from the North East -

Alfred Neasham from Coxhoe, Leslie Ahmed from South Shields,

It doesn't seem like ten years, it's just like...

I don't know, just so... It's just gone so quick, uh-huh.

And it's hard to comprehend, you know?

As soon as we got the call, we knew it was going to be

a big call-out and it was a search and rescue, so we launched...

We usually launch with five people,

we actually took nine people with us that night,

so we could have four extra lookouts.

But unfortunately there wasn't a lot we could do.

The helicopter had taken off from Blackpool Airport

on the night of the 27th of December 2006 destined for the gas fields.

after being charged with the murder of a teenager

Work on regenerating a major town-centre street

in Hartlepool is due to start in the New Year.

Hartlepool Council wants the Church Street area

to be at the heart of a so-called innovation and skills quarter,

from its current one as a drinking destination.

Hartlepool's Church Street has seen better times.

Once the preserve of the town's ship owners,

it's now a lively night-time destination,

It is a lively area, but we don't have

many independent sellers, we don't have many shops

in the area, it's very much a night-time economy.

It may be busy at certain periods,

but we want that dawn-till-dusk feel,

where we are promoting local businesses.

Grants to regenerate the buildings have been won.

has invested ?11 million in its new building.

In this restaurant on Church Street, the scheme has gone down well,

well, but there could, he thinks, be refinements.

There could be things for children to play around,

and I think the council should think about the parking as well.

Now, a chance encounter between schoolgirls from York and Greece

has led to a plan to help improve the lives of refugees.

The girls began collecting bags of essential items

More than 300 have been sent, as Cathy Killick reports.

They do say many hands make light work,

and at the Mount School in York it's been proven ten times over.

The girls have spearheaded a remarkable project

that's spread beyond their school, out into York

and will come to fruition 2,000 miles away in Greece.

The rucksacks contain carefully selected essentials for refugees

and have requested by Greek students who met the pupils on a school trip.

We came back to York, and we were saying,

"We could do this, we can get other schools to do it."

Knowing the cause it was going to

and how appreciative these people were going to be for this,

honestly, it was worthwhile, definitely.

so like every form did two bags, for like a boy and a girl.

Afterwards, people made their own at home,

and we kept bringing loads, it was amazing.

As many migrants are still living in tents in freezing temperatures,

the small comforts, easily transported, will really help.

Well, a warning out for fog across parts of North Yorkshire

tonight, that extends into parts of County Durham too,

all courtesy of this area of high pressure.

So watch out for that fog, particularly if you are driving down

the A1 into North Yorkshire, it could be quite reluctant to clear.

Elsewhere, not a bad day, it's dry, variable cloud with some sunshine.

I suspect the best of tomorrow's sunshine will be across Cumbria

and the Lake District, and down that east coast of ours.

Where the fog sticks, it's going to feel cold.
