Now on BBC1, its time for the news where you are.

:00:00.:00:00.

Hello and welcome to your Bank Holiday Monday Look North.

:00:00.:00:00.

Bypassed - the landowner who's waited a decade to be paid

:00:00.:00:09.

for the land she gave for the Haydon Bridge bypass.

:00:10.:00:12.

And how did our football teams get on in the Bank

:00:13.:00:15.

The farmer who sold land to the Government

:00:16.:00:31.

for the A69 Haydon Bridge bypass in Northumberland says she's

:00:32.:00:34.

still awaiting final payment more than a decade

:00:35.:00:36.

Annabelle Morshead is owed ?100,000 and says she can't

:00:37.:00:43.

In 2009, Haydon Bridge finally got its bypass.

:00:44.:00:51.

It was the last village along the A69 to have the busy trunk road

:00:52.:00:55.

But eight years on, the family which sold the land to make

:00:56.:01:00.

the bypass possible still hasn't been fully paid.

:01:01.:01:07.

My father was always keen - he was chairman of the parish

:01:08.:01:12.

council of Haydon Bridge - that Haydon Bridge needed

:01:13.:01:14.

a bypass and when it came that we would facilitate it

:01:15.:01:17.

but I never thought that we would be still waiting,

:01:18.:01:22.

coming up for ten years, for such a simple scheme.

:01:23.:01:28.

The family agreed the sale in 2006 but is still waiting for around

:01:29.:01:31.

They also say they haven't been properly reimbursed for remedial

:01:32.:01:36.

In a statement, the Highways Agency told us it was working closely

:01:37.:01:46.

with the claimants' solicitor and was committed to finding

:01:47.:01:48.

They have said this for the last couple of years.

:01:49.:01:59.

Those poor people who are going through HS2 and the dualling

:02:00.:02:02.

of the A66 and all this, I mean, they need to be warned

:02:03.:02:05.

that it is not as straightforward as you are led to believe.

:02:06.:02:15.

Investigations are continuing after the body of a man was found

:02:16.:02:18.

Police were called to Holly Terrace opposite Rowntree Park yesterday.

:02:19.:02:23.

The man was recovered from the water a short time later.

:02:24.:02:25.

Officers are trying to find out how he came to be in the river.

:02:26.:02:29.

A man found murdered in a house in Scarborough last week has been

:02:30.:02:32.

Shaun Atkinson, who was 49, was found in his home

:02:33.:02:38.

in St John's Avenue early on December the 27th.

:02:39.:02:41.

Two men have appeared in court charged with his murder.

:02:42.:02:45.

A North Yorkshire charity says it needs more volunteers to help

:02:46.:02:47.

with the increasing number of people living with dementia.

:02:48.:02:51.

Alzheimer's support group Side By Side wants everybody

:02:52.:03:02.

with dementia to be able to access their service.

:03:03.:03:04.

Although Frieda Ward was a lifeguard and swimming instructor

:03:05.:03:07.

in Scarborough for decades, today it is her first trip

:03:08.:03:10.

Frieda has vascular dementia but she still loves swimming,

:03:11.:03:19.

so volunteer Liz Colling is helping to keep Frieda and her

:03:20.:03:21.

They were introduced by local Alzheimer's charity Side By Side.

:03:22.:03:25.

They match dementia sufferers with volunteers who enjoy the same

:03:26.:03:27.

things and can help them participate in the activities they used to.

:03:28.:03:30.

She really did make me laugh, a real sense of humour,

:03:31.:03:33.

She's got more sparkle in her eye, and she's clearly

:03:34.:03:42.

So when she starts to do it and talk about it,

:03:43.:03:46.

Frieda has spent her life in Scarborough.

:03:47.:03:51.

She has raised a family here and is a well-known figure locally,

:03:52.:03:54.

as she has taught hundreds of schoolchildren to swim.

:03:55.:03:58.

Getting back in the water is a way for her to reconnect with her past

:03:59.:04:01.

But it is only possible with the help of a volunteer,

:04:02.:04:06.

By 2025 there could be over 1 million people with dementia

:04:07.:04:15.

and I would like people to think, if dementia was to affect you,

:04:16.:04:18.

your family, your friends, how you would really

:04:19.:04:21.

like the support to be for that person, and perhaps

:04:22.:04:24.

if you have a few hours a month, or a week, of something you can do

:04:25.:04:31.

to enhance the journey of the person with dementia.

:04:32.:04:37.

As our population ages, dementia will touch more lives

:04:38.:04:44.

than ever before but it can be tackled side-by-side.

:04:45.:04:48.

In today's football, in the three o'clock matches,

:04:49.:04:51.

Sunderland hosted Liverpool at the Stadium of Light,

:04:52.:04:55.

where twice they came from behind, each time with a Jermain Defoe

:04:56.:04:57.

penalty, to earn an excellent 2-2 draw.

:04:58.:05:01.

Newcastle, meanwhile, were at Blackburn Rovers where,

:05:02.:05:04.

despite dominating with chances like this from Mo Diame,

:05:05.:05:06.

and this from Dwight Gayle, the only goal of the game came

:05:07.:05:09.

from a second-half Charlie Mulgrew free kick for Blackburn.

:05:10.:05:12.

Meanwhile in today's lunchtime kick-off, Middlesbrough held

:05:13.:05:21.

Premier League Champions Leicester to a 0-0 draw at the Riverside.

:05:22.:05:25.

I think a point against the champions, I think

:05:26.:05:27.

We had a lot of the ball, pressing quite high but, again,

:05:28.:05:33.

our delivery in the box let us down as usual.

:05:34.:05:37.

I thought it was a good game, good atmosphere from the Boro fans,

:05:38.:05:44.

In League Two, Carlisle led Grimsby, but lost 3-1.

:05:45.:05:49.

Hartlepool got a point - 2-2 at Accrington.

:05:50.:05:54.

And Match of the Day's prestigious Goal of the Month competition

:05:55.:05:57.

for December has been won by five-year-old Sunderland

:05:58.:06:00.

Sunderland mascot Bradley, who's from Blackhall Colliery

:06:01.:06:05.

His pre-match penalty goal against Chelsea keeper

:06:06.:06:12.

Thibault Courtois was awarded joint Goal of the Month alongside

:06:13.:06:15.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan's goal for Manchester United

:06:16.:06:18.

Bradley's mum, Gemma, says Bradley is over the moon.

:06:19.:06:21.

Will the weather warm our hearts, or not?

:06:22.:06:24.

A lot of fine weather to come across our part of the world

:06:25.:06:30.

Tomorrow, the brightest weather always in eastern areas.

:06:31.:06:34.

Newcastle, Sunderland, Berwick and right along that coastal strip.

:06:35.:06:38.

Further west there'll be a lot of cloud and perhaps a little drizzle.

:06:39.:06:41.

What's going to happen on Tuesday night is this cold front will bring

:06:42.:06:44.

a bit of patchy rain, but clearing things up so Wednesday

:06:45.:06:47.

we're back to blue skies with plenty of sunshine around.

:06:48.:06:51.

It's pretty cold out there at the moment and certainly

:06:52.:06:54.

there'll be a widespread slight frost in rural areas.

:06:55.:06:57.

More cloud further west, perhaps a few spots of rain for Cumbria.

:06:58.:07:02.

Here's a look at tonight's lowest temperatures.

:07:03.:07:04.

Take care on the roads - there'll be ice on untreated surfaces.

:07:05.:07:07.

Always a lot of cloud in western areas, where there could be just

:07:08.:07:15.

a little light rain, a bit of sleet over

:07:16.:07:17.

The best of the sunshine, Berwick right down to Middlesbrough

:07:18.:07:21.

and into eastern parts of North Yorkshire.

:07:22.:07:25.

Top temperatures tomorrow numerically higher than today

:07:26.:07:28.

but when you add in a fresh wind it will feel fairly chilly.

:07:29.:07:31.

Top temperature - 7 Celsius, 45 Fahrenheit.

:07:32.:07:35.

Then the sunshine returns on Wednesday - beautiful day,

:07:36.:07:37.

Thursday, we hang on to the fine weather but there is a risk

:07:38.:07:43.

And that's our round-up so far this Bank Holiday Monday.

:07:44.:07:49.

There's always more on our online pages, of course, and I'll

:07:50.:07:52.

Good evening. It has been turning colder and clearer and our weather

:07:53.:08:16.

watchers have been capturing the sunshine. Here is the scene in

:08:17.:08:20.

Derbyshire and where we have had the clear skies by day, we are in for a

:08:21.:08:25.

cold night tonight. Temperatures already plummeting, particularly

:08:26.:08:29.

towards the south with some icy stretches across parts of central

:08:30.:08:34.

and southern England, and into Wales. For the north-west, not

:08:35.:08:35.
