Good evening.

A service has been held in Fleetwood on the north-west coast to mark

the tenth anniversary of the Morecambe Bay helicopter crash.

Seven men died in the accident, including three from the north-east.

They were Alfred Neasham from Coxhoe,

Leslie Ahmed from South Shields and Keith Smith from Stockton.

It doesn't seem like ten years, it's just like...

I don't know, just so...

It's just gone so quick, uh-huh.

And it's hard to comprehend, you know?

As soon as we got the call, we knew it was going to be a big

call-out and it was a search and rescue, so we launched...

We usually launch with five people, we actually took nine

people with us that night, so we could have

four extra lookouts.

But unfortunately there wasn't a lot we could do.

The helicopter had taken off from Blackpool Airport on the night

of the 27th of December 2006 destined for the gas fields.

Seven men died when it crashed into the sea in bad weather.

A decade on, the memories of what happened 24 miles off this

coast are still very clear for many.

A man and a woman have been remanded into custody after being charged

with the murder of a teenager who was stabbed at a club.

The police were called Cramlington Working Men's Club on Christmas Eve.

19-year-old Owen Kerry was treated by paramedics

but died later in hospital.

Lyndsey Harper, who's 36 and lives in Annitsford in north Tyneside,

appeared in court today alongside Brian Cahill, who's

35 and from Dudley, also in north Tyneside.

Work on regenerating a major town centre street in Hartlepool is due

to start in the New Year.

The council wants the Church Street area to be at the heart

of a so-called innovation and skills quarter, rather than

a drinking destination.

Hartlepool's Church Street has seen better times.

Once the preserve of the town's ship owners, it is now a lively

night-time destination, but slightly the worse for wear.

Now there are plans to change that.

It is a lively area, but we don't have many independent

sellers or shops in the area.

It is very much the night-time economy.

It may be busy at certain periods but we want that

dawn till dusk feel, where we are promoting

local businesses.

Grants to regenerate the buildings have been won.

Cleveland College of Art and Design has invested

?11 million in a new building.

In this restaurant on Church Street, the scheme has gone down well,

but there could be refinements, the owner thinks.

There could be more things for children to play around

and I think the council should think about the parking as well.

A lot of our customers complain about the parking.

There is nowhere to park.

Work on the new-look Church Street will begin in the New Year,

with completion by Christmas 2017.

A chance encounter between schoolgirls from York and Greece

has led to a plan to help improve the lives of refugees.

The girls from Mount School in York were so moved when they heard

of the plight of refugees in Greece, they began collecting

bags of essential items to send out to the country.

Involving other schools in York, they'd initially hoped to send 50

rucksacks but ended up with more than 300.

Knowing the cause it was going to and how appreciative these people

were going to be for this, honestly, it was worthwhile, definitely.

We did it in our forms.

Every form did two bags for a boy and a girl.

So we did it like that.

Afterwards, people made their own at home and then we just kept

on bringing in loads.

It was amazing.

Hello, good evening.

We start with a warning of fog, particularly through the Vale

of York in North Yorkshire, extending into County Durham.

Some poor visibility later tonight.

All courtesy of high pressure, which means we should

have a dry rest of the week.

So, tomorrow, watch out for that fog.

It could be really quite reluctant to clear across some

parts of North Yorkshire.

Elsewhere, it's not too bad.

Dry with variable amounts of cloud.

The best of the sunshine tomorrow across Cumbria and the Lake District

and along the east coast of ours.

Top temperatures, cold in the fog but near 7 degrees

in Carlisle and Kendal.
