The parents of pupils at a Birmingham school

which could be closed at thd end of term say they're being ptt in

The Kajans Hospitality and Catering Studio College was set up

to provide training in a part of the city that has some of the hhghest

But the Government says it doesn't have enough pupils to keep running,

despite having just spent ?2.5 million refurbishing

To these students, it's a classroom, and all the ingredients are coming

together to make Kajans Hospitality and Catering Studio College what

they want to be ` a centre of excellence.

Their new home in Aston in Birmingham is undergoing renovation

thanks to a ?2.5 million cash injection from central Government.

No wonder then they're devastated that the Government's pulling

We are angry because this is the only college in Birmingham which

offers a vocation or educathon in catering for 14`19 `year`olds. If it

closes, that opportunity will be taken away from all the students in

that age range and it is nowhere else they can do it.

Students like Lorraine Dugard are wondering where they'll go.

Were all close`knit and lovd it here and hopefully it will not shut down.

`` we are all. The school has 48 students `nd the

Department of Education says it s They told us, we have been working

extremely closely with them for a number of months and have

repeatedly made clear that there were concerns about the school's

viability due to low pupil numbers. If I get to the end of this summer

term and we cannot find a place what do I do as a parent? As far as

I am concerned, my child's dducation is being disrupted unnecess`rily by

the decision that has been lade to withdraw the funding and th`t is

totally unacceptable. A lot of anger about the Department

of Education's decision comds from the fact that unemployment `mong

young people in this area is at 60%, and the hope was that this place

would help address that by giving them skills to get jobs in

Birmingham in the city's thriving Our big agenda is that this is a

skills shortage and 60% unelployment in parts of the community. We cannot

continue to do what we have done. We have to find new ways. This for the

new way but we will consider to `` continue to support them and what

with the community to see what comes next.

And Birmingham City Council say they're helping find places

for the students at other schools and colleges in the city.

Three men have been jailed for a fraud running

Their business, Spaserve, bdgan selling hot tubs back in 2007.

But 400 customers failed to receive them and hundreds more were

Fraud charges followed two years later.

Simon Foster, Jonathan Hussdlbee and Stuart Cox ` all convicted

of fraud for their part in a business selling hot ttbs.

It was described by the judge as a "wholly dishonest venttre"

Police began investigating after complaints from hundrdds

The hot tubs were advertised on the internet using variots

Hot tubs were delivered late or not at all.

Foster was the leading light of the fraud ` he took at ldast

?900,000 ? and lived a lavish lifestyle with three Porschds.

Customers who had been at court welcomed the jail terms

When the business eventuallx went bankrupt in 2010,

Sentencing the three businessmen to jail, the judge said once the fraud

began, it was only a matter of time before the balloon went up

He said this had been a very cynical and concerted way

Businesses in Cheltenham ard trying to raise ?1 million to try to save

The mural, which appeared on the side of a house, has bedn bought

by a private collector and ` team has been preparing to removd it

That's despite a warning from the council that cutting it from

although if the law is brokdn, it's six months in jail or ` maximum

fine of ?20,000 for an artwork that could sell for much more.

Which is why he said he'll consider an offer from the local bushness

community, who are desperatdly trying to raise over ?1 million
