From Brexit to general election - how immigration is influencing | :00:00. | :00:10.
It seems to be going to foreigners and not British people. | :00:11. | :00:16.
We'll be looking at the impact Brexit could have on the way people | :00:17. | :00:21.
Bruno Mars fans left out in the cold. We found out why. | :00:22. | :00:36.
Thieves on the roof, rural churches across the region | :00:37. | :00:38.
warning of an increase in lead theft | :00:39. | :00:40.
Insurance will only pay at a maximum of 7500 and the estimate we've had, | :00:41. | :00:43.
thus far, for replacing and repair is over ?20,000. | :00:44. | :00:53.
Halting the sharp decline of the water vole by building them bespoke | :00:54. | :00:58.
hotels. And hail, sleet and snow, | :00:59. | :00:59.
even some sunshine today Surely, it's has to | :01:00. | :01:02.
improve by the weekend? The details coming | :01:03. | :01:05.
up in the forecast. How will Brexit influence | :01:06. | :01:12.
your vote on June 8th? One memorable reaction | :01:13. | :01:18.
after the EU referendum last year, came from a woman | :01:19. | :01:21.
in the Black Country. She declared it | :01:22. | :01:23.
"the best day of my life". With the snap General Election | :01:24. | :01:26.
a little over six weeks away, we've returned to Princes End | :01:27. | :01:28.
in Tipton, an area where almost | :01:29. | :01:31.
two thirds of people voted Leave. Their MP Adrian Bailey | :01:32. | :01:36.
- a firm "remainer" - increased his majority at the last | :01:37. | :01:38.
General Election. So how might Brexit | :01:39. | :01:41.
affect things this time? Our Black Country reporter | :01:42. | :01:44.
Ben Godfrey has been Labour will outline their | :01:45. | :01:46.
plans today for Brexit. Trying to keep the single market | :01:47. | :01:54.
and unilaterally guaranteeing Princes End - if there is such | :01:55. | :01:56.
a thing as a "Brexit Sitting in the Labour stronghold | :01:57. | :02:03.
of West Bromwich West. Here almost two thirds of people | :02:04. | :02:08.
voted to Leave the EU. And last June, they couldn't | :02:09. | :02:12.
hide their delight. It's been the best | :02:13. | :02:15.
day of my life today. So the next test at the polls | :02:16. | :02:21.
is galloping towards us. It might be windswept | :02:22. | :02:24.
and raining but this is the best way to get around | :02:25. | :02:27.
Tipton and Princes End today. To find out what people are thinking | :02:28. | :02:33.
about the general election. First I met Robert Evans, | :02:34. | :02:37.
who owns the Handyman shop on the High Street - | :02:38. | :02:40.
and found deep frustration. I've been a Labour man all my life | :02:41. | :02:42.
but this time around I will be I think Theresa May is going | :02:43. | :02:46.
to do better for this This sort of area, | :02:47. | :02:49.
people see a lot of immigration coming | :02:50. | :02:52.
into this sort of area. It's such as the housing | :02:53. | :02:55.
and that kind of thing. New homes are being built | :02:56. | :03:02.
in Princes End and Last year almost one in ten people | :03:03. | :03:04.
here were unemployed and in the Mansell family home I | :03:05. | :03:10.
found Mum Linda and daughter Stacey Linda, a single mother of six | :03:11. | :03:13.
on benefits, told me she's voted Labour in the past but needs | :03:14. | :03:20.
assurances the next Government will do more to reduce childcare | :03:21. | :03:23.
costs and help her back to work It's like when you | :03:24. | :03:26.
apply for a job and you apply for it but there's | :03:27. | :03:30.
never nothing there. It's mainly them people | :03:31. | :03:32.
who come over here take all Is that not an attitude | :03:33. | :03:35.
that some people might They need to give people who have | :03:36. | :03:41.
got low-income bit more money to help them with the | :03:42. | :03:52.
children, and that. A Britain out of the EU | :03:53. | :03:54.
has been realised - here the opposite is also true, | :03:55. | :03:58.
according to Saren Ali. He runs a European food store | :03:59. | :04:01.
and has seen his takings fall He wants the next Government | :04:02. | :04:04.
to act quickly to protect It's not going to be easy | :04:05. | :04:08.
for them and loads of And then the businesses | :04:09. | :04:13.
are going to go down. There is loads of shops, | :04:14. | :04:16.
loads of people is These estates may be small, | :04:17. | :04:20.
polling turnout relatively low - but politicians ignore | :04:21. | :04:30.
them at their peril. Ben Godfrey, | :04:31. | :04:32.
BBC Midlands Today, Princes End. Let's put Ben Godfrey's | :04:33. | :04:34.
findings into perspective. Our Political Editor Patrick Burns | :04:35. | :04:37.
is here with me now. How big an impact will Brexit have | :04:38. | :04:39.
on this general election It's why this is | :04:40. | :04:42.
a general election like no other. Ben's just confirmed in areas | :04:43. | :04:51.
like that attitudes on Europe Labour's Brexit spokesman | :04:52. | :04:54.
Sir Keir Starmer has been clarifying the party's position | :04:55. | :04:59.
today, as will he might. Because perceptions that | :05:00. | :05:03.
Jeremy Corbyn is lukewarm on Europe and that his party is half-hearted | :05:04. | :05:08.
about Brexit risk Labour being stranded in no-man's-land, | :05:09. | :05:12.
with the Tories gaining support at Labour and Ukip's expense and | :05:13. | :05:20.
the Liberal Democrats winning-over Conservatives could pick up seats | :05:21. | :05:24.
in the Black Country? Why else would Theresa May have been | :05:25. | :05:34.
in Dudley at the weekend? She's | :05:35. | :05:41.
signalling the Tories We've heard how strongly | :05:42. | :05:43.
the Immigration issue is running. So she's sticking to her ambitious, | :05:44. | :05:52.
some say overambitious target, of reducing net migration | :05:53. | :05:54.
to the tens of thousands. And why she says she can't give | :05:55. | :05:56.
up-front guarantees on EU nationals over here before the negotiations | :05:57. | :05:59.
about UK nationals over there. Labour could lose nine | :06:00. | :06:08.
of their 25 local MPs. And if the Crown Prosecution Service | :06:09. | :06:17.
presses charges against Conservatives in key marginal seats | :06:18. | :06:24.
over the party's general election spending last time, | :06:25. | :06:26.
that could drive a coach and horses Or a pony and trap in Ben Godfrey's | :06:27. | :06:29.
case! Hundreds of Bruno Mars fans | :06:30. | :06:35.
were left disappointed last night - after they were forced to miss | :06:36. | :06:38.
a large part of the singer's concert in Birmingham, | :06:39. | :06:40.
due to ticket problems. Fans took to social media, | :06:41. | :06:42.
complaining at an apparent issue Our Arts Reporter Satnam Rana | :06:43. | :06:45.
joins us from now, near the Barclaycard Arena - | :06:46. | :06:48.
where the concert took place. Fans are already queueing to get | :06:49. | :07:00.
into tonight's performance from Bruno Mars. | :07:01. | :07:06.
The American singer is currently on the European leg of his | :07:07. | :07:08.
but some fans missed out on him last night. | :07:09. | :07:14.
They had turned up with invalid tickets - | :07:15. | :07:18.
mainly E tickets for the standing area which would not scan. | :07:19. | :07:23.
weaved around the bridge leaving fans out in the cold. | :07:24. | :07:29.
These are just some of the photos shared on social media | :07:30. | :07:31.
What's happened is that in March the NEC group re-issued tickets | :07:32. | :07:41.
the idea was to make it easier for people to get in. | :07:42. | :07:49.
But the NEC group have admitted failing to communicate this | :07:50. | :07:52.
This lead to some fans missing a bulk of the concert. | :07:53. | :07:59.
Waited nearly three hours in a queue outside. | :08:00. | :08:01.
And when we got there, told there was nothing wrong with the | :08:02. | :08:05.
tickets and we can go and enjoy the rest of the show | :08:06. | :08:08.
So, after waiting all the time, to be told there's nothing | :08:09. | :08:14.
nobody can do, absolutely disgusting. | :08:15. | :08:23.
To add to the problem, some people had purchased tickets | :08:24. | :08:25.
from secondary sellers and therefore were unable to get in at all - | :08:26. | :08:28.
They were OK. They were a bit disappointed. | :08:29. | :08:32.
I think his teacher said at school because | :08:33. | :08:35.
I went back to see the little one to make sure he was in his class | :08:36. | :08:39.
She said, he's told me that he couldn't | :08:40. | :08:42.
go last night because they'd obviously been to school the day | :08:43. | :08:45.
before telling everybody they were going to see Bruno Mars. | :08:46. | :08:47.
The NEC have apologised for what happened. | :08:48. | :09:00.
Some of those children, thankfully, are coming | :09:01. | :09:02.
again tonight which is a great thing, so they'll get who they want | :09:03. | :09:05.
Some of them have got different circumstances | :09:06. | :09:10.
some of them have taken tickets for different events in the future | :09:11. | :09:13.
at our two wonderful arenas so we will be working | :09:14. | :09:15.
So, once again, we do apologise to our 211 customers who | :09:16. | :09:19.
did not get the experience they wanted when we sold them the ticket. | :09:20. | :09:22.
Fans are on the move going into the arena tonight. It's hoped that some | :09:23. | :09:28.
of them are not as disappointed as some of them were last night. | :09:29. | :09:31.
More than a dozen churches have been stripped of lead from their roofs, | :09:32. | :09:34.
The trail of destruction means many small parishes have been left | :09:35. | :09:39.
with repair bills running to tens of thousands of pounds. | :09:40. | :09:41.
St Peter's Church has been at the heart of the Worcestershire | :09:42. | :09:45.
village of Inkberrow since the 13th century, but in the last | :09:46. | :09:47.
few weeks it's twice been targeted by lead thieves. | :09:48. | :09:50.
From the top of the tower, you can see the real | :09:51. | :09:53.
When the lead is removed, the roof is no longer secure, no longer | :09:54. | :10:07.
sealed, and then water gets in. Often, you don't find out the lead | :10:08. | :10:12.
has gone until we get rain. Then the damage is done. | :10:13. | :10:14.
Around two and half tonnes of lead were stolen in the two | :10:15. | :10:17.
attacks, leaving St Peter's with a bill of around ?20,000. | :10:18. | :10:21.
You can do so much. We have extra cameras and floodlighting on the | :10:22. | :10:28.
roof. Other precautions are being taken. That's all you can do. We | :10:29. | :10:35.
hope it's going to be sufficient to stop any in the future. | :10:36. | :10:38.
It's a similar story across Worcestershire at St Andrew's | :10:39. | :10:40.
Although not as obvious, nearly all the lead flashings around | :10:41. | :10:43.
around one and a half tonnes of metal, was stolen. | :10:44. | :10:48.
The insurance will only pay out a maximum of 7500. The estimate we've | :10:49. | :10:59.
had so far for replacement and repair is over ?20,000. There's | :11:00. | :11:04.
massive shortfall that we, as a church are going to have to find. | :11:05. | :11:14.
It's not just these places, I've heard of at least ten places. The | :11:15. | :11:21.
effect is intelligible to these small congregations. It's | :11:22. | :11:23.
horrendous. It's thought the sharp | :11:24. | :11:26.
rise in the price of lead is the reason for the recent | :11:27. | :11:27.
spate of thefts. Those churches targeted now | :11:28. | :11:30.
have to try and raise A heavily pregnant woman | :11:31. | :11:32.
from Birmingham has appeared before magistrates, | :11:33. | :11:36.
charged with helping her husband buy a knife in a plot | :11:37. | :11:37.
to carry-out a terror attack. Madihah Taheer | :11:38. | :11:41.
- who's 21-years-old - appeared at Westminster Magistrates | :11:42. | :11:44.
this morning. She's accused of providing | :11:45. | :11:48.
her bank details This allegedly | :11:49. | :11:50.
enabled him to buy a knife. They'll both appear | :11:51. | :11:54.
at the Old Bailey on Friday. Virgin Trains has announced | :11:55. | :11:59.
it's linked up with the French rail operator, SNCF, | :12:00. | :12:01.
to bid for the right The Government is offering | :12:02. | :12:04.
a franchise covering the existing West Coast Main Line services, | :12:05. | :12:11.
from 2019 - and initial high speed trains between London | :12:12. | :12:14.
and Birmingham from 2026. SNCF has experience | :12:15. | :12:16.
of operating high speed rail Communist Party candidate | :12:17. | :12:18.
Graham Stevenson has launched his manifesto | :12:19. | :12:24.
for the Metro Mayor The retired trade union official | :12:25. | :12:27.
wants to see the nationalisation of the M6 toll road - | :12:28. | :12:32.
and a living wage of ?10 an hour. He's also campaigning | :12:33. | :12:35.
on public transport. Public ownership of buses, where | :12:36. | :12:37.
massive investment in infrastructure with the aim of lowering the cost | :12:38. | :12:43.
of getting on a bus, cheaper fares, regular buses, these are policies | :12:44. | :12:50.
that are needed to turn things The number of people asking for help | :12:51. | :12:53.
from food banks in the West Midlands In the last year more than a hundred | :12:54. | :13:07.
thousand emergency food supplies Laura May McMullan has been | :13:08. | :13:11.
to a food bank in Stoke-on-trent, where people say they're really | :13:12. | :13:20.
struggling to survive. It honestly is the most kindest | :13:21. | :13:22.
environment and I'd push anyone to use the food bank | :13:23. | :13:32.
if they were struggling. Coming to the food bank now | :13:33. | :13:39.
for me is essential, making ends meet is | :13:40. | :13:45.
very very difficult. I'd be in the situation where I'd | :13:46. | :13:46.
need to be asking food bank in Stoke-on-Trent - | :13:47. | :13:50.
enough supplies were given out The need here has doubled | :13:51. | :14:01.
in the last two and a half years. with is people on benefit delays, | :14:02. | :14:07.
and their situation is I now have nothing, how am I supposed to live | :14:08. | :14:12.
for the next couple of weeks? It's a question John Edwards | :14:13. | :14:15.
is asking himself. He's used the food bank | :14:16. | :14:17.
and says he's in dire straits. He lost his job at the end of March | :14:18. | :14:22.
and was put on to universal credit. It means he now has to wait another | :14:23. | :14:26.
month before he gets any benefits. When you're used to being paid | :14:27. | :14:34.
weekly and then you've got to go to monthly and now I've been | :14:35. | :14:40.
told I can't get anything until the 26th next month, | :14:41. | :14:43.
so I don't know what I'm The Department of Work and Pensions | :14:44. | :14:46.
told me that the reason for food bank use are complex - | :14:47. | :14:53.
not linked to any one issue. "under Universal Credit | :14:54. | :14:58.
people are moving into work faster and staying in work | :14:59. | :15:04.
longer than under Payments mirror the way many | :15:05. | :15:07.
people in work are paid. Budgeting support, benefit advances, | :15:08. | :15:12.
and direct rent payments to landlords are available | :15:13. | :15:14.
to those who need them." John says he hasn't got a penny to | :15:15. | :15:26.
his name. He's hoping the council will help with his rent until he | :15:27. | :15:29.
receives benefits in a month's time. Thanks for joining us | :15:30. | :15:35.
on Midlands Today - still to come | :15:36. | :15:42.
on tonight's programme - Live at Walsall where Port Vale must | :15:43. | :15:53.
win to keep their faint chances of going up alive. But they haven't | :15:54. | :15:57.
scored in five games, so don't bank on it. | :15:58. | :15:59.
And take a look at these weather watchers photos from today | :16:00. | :16:02.
to the aftermath of snow in Shropshire | :16:03. | :16:12.
and Stratford-upon-Avon basking in blue sky and a bit | :16:13. | :16:15.
A real mixed bag which we'll see more of tomorrow. | :16:16. | :16:19.
Find out later whether it's going to last into the weekend. | :16:20. | :16:21.
A collection of rare pottery made in the | :16:22. | :16:25.
18TH century in Shropshire, is likely to fetch 70 thousand | :16:26. | :16:29.
Maurice Wright loves the 400 pieces - even though his wife jokes that | :16:30. | :16:34.
The sale is attracting international interest from collectors. | :16:35. | :16:38.
Joanne Writtle has been finding out more. | :16:39. | :16:43.
Maurice Wright has a passion for this rare pottery made near | :16:44. | :16:50.
Ironbridge but he feels some people won't share his love of it. Most | :16:51. | :16:55.
people will think it's a load of old parts collected by an obsessive man | :16:56. | :17:00.
with the patience of his wife. The collection is worth at least | :17:01. | :17:04.
?70,000, though. He's selling it tomorrow. There are shapes that | :17:05. | :17:10.
people would hunt for and pieces that people would look for four | :17:11. | :17:15.
years and years. To see it all together, this is the history of one | :17:16. | :17:23.
factory in a collection. He has collected the porcelain since the | :17:24. | :17:29.
late 60s. It was an interest and not an investment. Lots of pieces have | :17:30. | :17:34.
got chips and cracks. That hasn't mattered because it was important to | :17:35. | :17:39.
have an example. The auction is attracting huge interest. How it has | :17:40. | :17:45.
survived through the years. Their history, who is handled it, where's | :17:46. | :17:51.
it been. Once its journey? We've travelled from London because we are | :17:52. | :18:00.
very interested in this porcelain. This is the most important piece in | :18:01. | :18:04.
the collection. It dates back to 1790 and features de Ironbridge just | :18:05. | :18:11.
after it was completed. It is worth 3500. The porcelain works were | :18:12. | :18:18.
started in 1775, now just a small brick monument remains. It was a | :18:19. | :18:27.
very busy factory, not as large as a 19th century like Coalport. But it | :18:28. | :18:32.
employed many workers, some of them quite skilled. Back at the auction | :18:33. | :18:38.
room, Morris reveals why he is selling. I'm over 80 now and we | :18:39. | :18:44.
don't want the children to be burdened by the responsibility of | :18:45. | :18:48.
it. John it my wife certainly doesn't want to be burdened with the | :18:49. | :18:52.
responsibility if I pop off suddenly. | :18:53. | :18:54.
In tonight's sport, Port Vale will be relegated from League One | :18:55. | :18:57.
if they fail to beat Walsall at the Banks's Stadium. | :18:58. | :18:59.
But before we turn to that, the Birmingham City captain | :19:00. | :19:03.
Paul Robinson could miss the last two games of the season? | :19:04. | :19:08.
Mary, Paul Robinson has been charged with alleged violent conduct | :19:09. | :19:12.
during Sunday's derby game at Villa Park. | :19:13. | :19:15.
The incident wasn't spotted by the match officials. | :19:16. | :19:20.
But a panel of three former referees will study video evidence. | :19:21. | :19:26.
And if the charge is upheld unanimously, then Robinson could be | :19:27. | :19:29.
suspended for the next three games at least. | :19:30. | :19:33.
He's got until 6pm tomorrow to reply to the charge. | :19:34. | :19:38.
At least Birmingham are two points clear of relegation, | :19:39. | :19:40.
which is more than can be said for Port Vale in League One. | :19:41. | :19:45.
Yes, Vale have failed to score a single goal in their last five | :19:46. | :19:49.
games which explains why they need a miracle to avoid relegation. | :19:50. | :19:56.
Eddie Jackson and his wife Jean never miss a Port Vale game. | :19:57. | :20:00.
Not quite. I'm the eternal pessimist but a couple of things in our | :20:01. | :20:13.
favour. Walsall have only won one in the last eight of themselves and | :20:14. | :20:18.
they can't go up or down so I think Paul Vale might be slightly more | :20:19. | :20:22.
motivated than they are. But they are very poor team on rotten run. | :20:23. | :20:28.
We've only won one away game so I'm not expecting us to do what we need | :20:29. | :20:30.
to do. Vale simply have to win tonight | :20:31. | :20:34.
to stand even a faint Not a lot of people know this, | :20:35. | :20:36.
but you've both got season tickets at Newcastle United as well | :20:37. | :20:46.
as Port Vale. So last night's promotion party | :20:47. | :20:48.
could be followed by a relegation True. Having season tickets at these | :20:49. | :21:00.
two clubs, I should have deeply stupid imprinted on my forehead. | :21:01. | :21:04.
Last night was great but this could be from the sublime to the | :21:05. | :21:08.
ridiculous. I hope it isn't but recent form suggests we won't do | :21:09. | :21:09.
anything. Also tonight, Wolves | :21:10. | :21:11.
play Huddersfield in You can follow all the action | :21:12. | :21:13.
on BBC WM and BBC Radio Stoke. We will have the results on the late | :21:14. | :21:20.
bulletin at 10:30pm. A 78-year-old cyclist from Coventry, | :21:21. | :21:24.
is to ride the 3,400 km route Mick Ives aims to raise | :21:25. | :21:27.
60 thousand pounds for charity - 12 years ago, he tackled the route | :21:28. | :21:32.
of the Tour de France. But he says this will be his | :21:33. | :21:39.
toughest challenge yet. But for Mick the caffe lattes | :21:40. | :21:42.
are about to become genuine. The maglia rosa | :21:43. | :21:56.
or pink jersey is the clue. He's set the ride the route | :21:57. | :21:58.
of the Giro D'italia at the age of 78 to raise money | :21:59. | :22:01.
for four charities. You realise that people out there | :22:02. | :22:10.
are not having a nice life and they might not have a long life. So I | :22:11. | :22:17.
feel that if I can do something to help less fortunate, then I've | :22:18. | :22:20.
achieved something, problem you more than I've ever achieved on the bike. | :22:21. | :22:23.
But I use the bike a tool. Mick's from Bagington near Coventry | :22:24. | :22:25.
and has been cycling 350 miles a week through rural | :22:26. | :22:28.
Warwickshire for his training. Mick's an ex professional | :22:29. | :22:30.
with 78 British titles to his name. In 2005 he rode the route | :22:31. | :22:36.
of the Tour De France But the 3,400km of | :22:37. | :22:38.
the Giro will be harder still. It's tough. At my age, it's almost | :22:39. | :22:52.
impossible. I'm taking on a challenge which is huge. | :22:53. | :22:56.
Everyone at the Pavilions cafe in Lighthorne | :22:57. | :22:57.
It's very impressive. He's always the first in. What probably the | :22:58. | :23:08.
oldest in the bunch but he's always the first one. Is this the last big | :23:09. | :23:19.
challenge for you? My Mrs says yes but my heart at the moment says no. | :23:20. | :23:22.
Mick will ride two days in front of the race itself. | :23:23. | :23:26.
When was the last time you saw one of these? | :23:27. | :23:36.
The number of watervoles are in sharp decline, | :23:37. | :23:39.
so a project's under way to try and change that. | :23:40. | :23:41.
As many as 90 per cent have been wiped out since its main predator, | :23:42. | :23:45.
the American Mink, was released into the wild in the 1950s. | :23:46. | :23:47.
But now work's under way to try and save them - | :23:48. | :23:51.
In North Warwickshire the watervole population like many | :23:52. | :23:55.
other places in the UK, has all but disappeared. | :23:56. | :23:58.
They're falling prey to the American Mink | :23:59. | :24:02.
and their plight made worse by human creations like this steel canal | :24:03. | :24:04.
embankment which can trap voles in the water. | :24:05. | :24:10.
But thanks to the work of volunteers the environment is being made safer. | :24:11. | :24:16.
The Warwickshire wildlife trust are creating what they describe as | :24:17. | :24:24.
Volmink tells along this stage of the canal. They allow the voles to | :24:25. | :24:29.
climb out of the water and avoid the steel barrier. | :24:30. | :24:31.
There's already evidence the watervoles are making use | :24:32. | :24:33.
of the new facilities and similar projects previously | :24:34. | :24:35.
I thought ten years ago that I would witness the extinction of water | :24:36. | :24:47.
voles in Warwickshire. What happened is really nothing short of a | :24:48. | :24:48.
miracle. And there's more good | :24:49. | :24:50.
news for the watervoles, it seems the American mink itself | :24:51. | :24:53.
is now subject to it's own predator, There is anecdotal evidence that | :24:54. | :25:04.
with the resurgence of otters after banning pesticides in the 80s and | :25:05. | :25:09.
90s, with otters coming back into pretty much all watercourses in | :25:10. | :25:16.
Warwickshire, they out, beat the mink. We are seeing less mink | :25:17. | :25:20.
around. This is potentially because of this rise in to numbers. | :25:21. | :25:23.
The battle for the wilds has nearly cost Watervoles | :25:24. | :25:25.
their existence in the UK, but surveys have confirmed | :25:26. | :25:27.
they're on the increase in parts of Warwickshire, | :25:28. | :25:29.
and with the help of more volunteers t's hoped the motels can be | :25:30. | :25:32.
Kevin Reide, BBC Midlands Today, Warwickshire. | :25:33. | :25:40.
The hat is off, is that a good sign? It is. Snow one minute, sunshine the | :25:41. | :25:53.
next. The hat was to stop my hair flopping around. | :25:54. | :26:03.
out of the sky today - the clouds were threatening | :26:04. | :26:06.
over in Shropshire Whereas some parts enjoyed | :26:07. | :26:08.
But there were plenty of showers in between with reports of snow | :26:09. | :26:12.
storms and more than just a dusting of it. | :26:13. | :26:14.
I'm please to the say that the temperatures will begin | :26:15. | :26:17.
to pick up after tomorrow although the picture's | :26:18. | :26:22.
still fairly unsettled from the pressure chart you can see | :26:23. | :26:25.
we're currently caught in between high pressure | :26:26. | :26:28.
to the west and low to the east which is directing our winds | :26:29. | :26:31.
in from a sheer northerly direction blasting in from the Arctic - | :26:32. | :26:34.
and as we head into tonight - those showers continue to rattle | :26:35. | :26:41.
on until they slowly begin to die out through the second half | :26:42. | :26:44.
of the night when clearer skies begin to develop across western | :26:45. | :26:48.
parts and temperatures tumble down to zero - | :26:49. | :26:51.
but across Eastern parts at least - a different day tomorrow in that | :26:52. | :27:01.
you'll be waking up to showers - quite a few of them - | :27:02. | :27:05.
Sunnier and slightly drier further west. | :27:06. | :27:10.
And temperatures - still no great shakes | :27:11. | :27:12.
much drier tomorrow night but with a warm front arriving | :27:13. | :27:25.
from the north through the course of Thursday - the temperatures | :27:26. | :27:30.
will slowly recover but duller conditions with some | :27:31. | :27:36.
That's all for now. I'll be back with the late news at 10:30pm. Have | :27:37. | :27:45.
a good evening. Goodbye. Our crack team of experts | :27:46. | :27:52.

might fancy a drink? | :28:15. | :28:19. |
