A murder investigation is under way after a man was killed as thieves

stole his car in Manchester in the early hours of this morning.

Here on Cranborne Road in Chorlton in the early hours of this

morning at around 3am, 35-year-old Michael Samwell and his

Michael went downstairs to investigate and he was found

a few moments later on the ground outside with severe injuries.

He was taken to hospital, but, sadly, he later died.

Now it's emerged his car was stolen, a black Audi S3.

It was discovered in the Ladybarn area, severely damaged.

Now police have actually launched a murder investigation

and are appealing for any witnesses to this incident.

Around three o'clock, it's a quiet place, so anything

but I would appeal to whoever has done it and the criminal fraternity.

Everybody knows that this is a line that cannot be crossed.

The 30th anniversary of the first organ transplant

After a reasonably settled weekend, we've got some rain on the way

tonight due to this area low pressure bringing a cold front

If we look at the detail overnight tonight, cloud is increasing

from the north and patchy rain is also increasing and becoming more

widespread in the early hours, with lows tonight of around 7

Then as we go towards tomorrow morning, that patchy rain

will linger for a time before steadily clearing away to the south.

It will leave brighter spells behind it, particularly later

on in the afternoon, with highs of around 11 Celsius,

so it will be feeling a bit cooler tomorrow.

That cold theme will stay with us throughout much of the week

with a mixture of sunshine and showers on the way.
