A former worker at South East Coast Ambulance Service has told | :00:14. | :00:16.
this programme she was so badly bullied there for two years, | :00:17. | :00:19.
it made her ill, and she had to leave the job she loved. | :00:20. | :00:25.
Ambulance technician Jane Thomas says the bullying was widespread | :00:26. | :00:27.
The trust has been under intense pressure this week after a leaked | :00:28. | :00:32.
report revealed historic allegations of "horrific, cowardly | :00:33. | :00:33.
and devastating" acts of bullying against staff at their call | :00:34. | :00:36.
The trust has told us that they are working hard | :00:37. | :00:40.
Jane Thomas was a technician with the SECAMB for 14 years. | :00:41. | :00:54.
She left two years ago after suffering what she describes | :00:55. | :00:56.
as repeated bullying from a colleague. | :00:57. | :01:02.
I was expecting a baby in September, I miscarried in Christmas Day. | :01:03. | :01:09.
And he made a comment about my weight in the duty room | :01:10. | :01:12.
in front of several other colleagues when I was passing through. | :01:13. | :01:15.
Jane Thomas joined what was Kent ambulance in the year 2000. | :01:16. | :01:30.
Based in Thanet, that changed in 2012, when she questioned | :01:31. | :01:35.
When you haven't got the support, who do you turn to? | :01:36. | :01:44.
You have your line manager, that you think, you hope, | :01:45. | :01:47.
you can trust and they perhaps don't want to know so you go | :01:48. | :01:50.
the next stage further and they are not interested. | :01:51. | :01:57.
Revelations about bullying at SECAMB have centred around historical | :01:58. | :02:00.
allegations at the emergency call centre at Coxheath. | :02:01. | :02:05.
A confidential report was leaked this week, | :02:06. | :02:10.
describing a culture of favouritism and nepotism with staff receiving | :02:11. | :02:12.
abusive and anonymous phone calls and female staff | :02:13. | :02:14.
I am very angry, if these allegations do come through then | :02:15. | :02:33.
In July 2014, I said to myself I have got to go. | :02:34. | :02:57.
And I had to give up a job that I loved doing very much. | :02:58. | :03:05.
And it still affects me, to this day. | :03:06. | :03:13.
A dispute over a one pound parking ticket led to a 14-month battle | :03:14. | :03:17.
with East Sussex County Council that saw bailiffs attempt | :03:18. | :03:21.
Charity volunteer Paula Woolvens bought a ticket to park | :03:22. | :03:26.
in Seaford in 2015 but the wind blew it | :03:27. | :03:27.
After months of dispute, an independent parking tribunal has | :03:28. | :03:33.
The council says it's seeking clarification | :03:34. | :03:36.
Our news correspondent Yvette Austin reports. | :03:37. | :03:48.
A ?1 for two hours ticket which led to a legal battle. She regularly | :03:49. | :03:57.
pays and displays in this car park but the problems began on a windy | :03:58. | :03:59.
winters day in 2015. And I was helping with | :04:00. | :04:10.
the school pantomime. It was windy, December 2015, | :04:11. | :04:11.
very cold, the children had arrived early with their teachers | :04:12. | :04:14.
and I was rushing to get I bought a ticket as I always do, | :04:15. | :04:17.
put it in my car, and the wind must have flipped it over | :04:18. | :04:22.
as I closed the door. And the ?50 penalty | :04:23. | :04:24.
charge was issued. She told East Sussex County | :04:25. | :04:27.
Council what had happened It has photo evidence | :04:28. | :04:30.
that the ticket had flipped over More appeals and the County | :04:31. | :04:41.
Court hearing followed. And then bailiffs | :04:42. | :04:44.
to take away her car. A tow truck and a bailiff turned up | :04:45. | :04:47.
with a lady threatening to drag away my ?11,000 car for a ?1 parking | :04:48. | :04:51.
ticket that I had bought. It got beyond ridiculous, | :04:52. | :04:55.
six appeals, bailiffs, and all for a ?1 ticket that | :04:56. | :05:05.
I had bought. Eventually a government independent | :05:06. | :05:09.
tribunal sided with and the ?400 that she had to pay the bailiffs has | :05:10. | :05:14.
now been refunded. The fact that then pursued it | :05:15. | :05:20.
relentlessly, it seems me that someone has really had quite | :05:21. | :05:24.
a vicious streak in them and instead of exercising their discretion that | :05:25. | :05:31.
common sense would suggest, has pursued this relentlessly | :05:32. | :05:33.
and at the expense of taxpayers. East Sussex County Council says it | :05:34. | :05:38.
issued a penalty charge notice because it had happened to Paula | :05:39. | :05:45.
before, back in March 2015, The matter is now closed for Paula | :05:46. | :05:48.
but the council is seeking clarification from the tribunal | :05:49. | :05:52.
over its decision. A lorry driver accused of bringing | :05:53. | :05:59.
down a bridge on the M20 in Kent by driving dangerously has | :06:00. | :06:02.
appeared in court. Alan Austen from Darlington is also | :06:03. | :06:05.
charged with criminal damage. The lorry hit the footbridge | :06:06. | :06:11.
crossing over the motorway last August, bringing it down | :06:12. | :06:13.
onto another HGV - and narrowly New problems have emerged | :06:14. | :06:16.
with the systems that compensate passengers for delays on Southern | :06:17. | :06:20.
Rail. The company told people affected | :06:21. | :06:23.
by the chaos of months of industrial action | :06:24. | :06:26.
that they would be in touch in the New Year but thousands | :06:27. | :06:28.
haven't heard a word, and today the Southern admitted | :06:29. | :06:31.
technical problems mean the scheme Let's get the picture in | :06:32. | :06:33.
the south-east with Rachel Mackley. Good evening. A gorgeous bright | :06:34. | :06:53.
afternoon, temperatures were reaching highs of 13 degrees. Mild | :06:54. | :06:59.
over the weekend as well, mostly dry, potentially some light rain | :07:00. | :07:05.
first thing. Overnight tonight, dry and mild, mist and fog first thing | :07:06. | :07:09.
for Saturday, an area of high pressure once again brightening up | :07:10. | :07:14.
by the end of the afternoon. A gentle south-westerly and | :07:15. | :07:18.
temperatures comfortably in double figures and highs of ten or 11. From | :07:19. | :07:23.
Saturday to Sunday, a weakening weather front, more cloud and | :07:24. | :07:29.
potentially drizzle first thing. Mostly dry during the day on Sunday | :07:30. | :07:32.
and highs of 12 or 13 part of next week, we could see 16 | :07:33. | :07:37.
Celsius in a few spots. Here is knit with the National output. | :07:38. | :07:39. |
