Friends of the motorbike rider Mick Whalley from Sheppey, who died

after a crash yesterday, have described him as a "daredevil"

He had been taking part in a support race, ahead of

the British Superbike championships. Jon Hunt reports.

They have been coming to Mick Whalley's distribution

business in Sheerness today to pay their respects.

I am just so shocked. Really sad.

But he was doing what he loved to do.

Very tragic. I feel for his family and kids.

But I don't think he would have wanted to go any other way.

Mr Whalley was killed in a multiple motorcycle crash

at Donington Park race circuit yesterday.

This afternoon, I met Kayleigh, Mick's long-time girlfriend.

She told me she was at Donington Park yesterday, helping out

in the pit lane alongside Mick's mechanic, as she usually does.

She praised the medics for trying so hard to save his life.

which was, "I'm here for a good time, not a long time."

Nick Hales had known Mick for 15 years.

He described him as a fun-loving guy, the life and soul of the party.

If he wasn't at work, he was out and about

Just to hear that he has gone is just so shocking for everybody.

A minute's silence was held at Donington Park today.

It is thought that oil on the track from a preceding bike's

Good evening. A dry and greatly across much of the region today. Bit

of a contrast in temperatures. On the south coast, feeling a lot

cooler with the onshore breeze. This week, mostly dry. Some sunshine. A

lot of cool and misty mornings, with the touch of ground frost possible.

Overnight innate, clear sky will lead to fog patches forming just at

the start tomorrow. 5-6 C overnight. But that should clear by first thing

tomorrow morning. High temperatures inland getting up to 16 Celsius. He
