I'm Anjana Gadgil with the news here in the south. | :00:09. | :00:12.
Easter Day has been celebrated by Christians across the region - | :00:13. | :00:15.
but one particular service was perhaps more poignant than most. | :00:16. | :00:19.
It's the first major festival at Guildford Cathedral | :00:20. | :00:22.
since the bishop there gave a warning two months ago | :00:23. | :00:25.
The council refused planning permission to build homes on land | :00:26. | :00:30.
owned by the cathedral, which would have secured | :00:31. | :00:32.
This morning worshippers celebrated amidst building | :00:33. | :00:37.
The bishop says he remains anxious about future funding. | :00:38. | :00:42.
Lawyers are now considering a new planning application or an appeal. | :00:43. | :00:44.
Meanwhile, today's congregation remained optimistic. | :00:45. | :00:51.
There is no doubt about it, the cathedral will be here for many | :00:52. | :00:55.
All the scare stories about the cathedral are simply that | :00:56. | :00:59.
The cathedral has been built for the future | :01:00. | :01:05.
generations, as you can see from the building works inside. | :01:06. | :01:08.
Lots of work is going on and hopefully everything will be | :01:09. | :01:10.
complete and back to its former glory very shortly. | :01:11. | :01:14.
I don't think you need to worry about it at all, | :01:15. | :01:17.
Forensic investigators have been combing through the ashes | :01:18. | :01:24.
of a stately home in Dorset after a serious blaze yesterday. | :01:25. | :01:27.
The fire at Parnham House broke out early in the morning, | :01:28. | :01:31.
causing "extensive damage" to the Elizabethan home. | :01:32. | :01:35.
Dorset Police are treating the fire as suspicious and the area | :01:36. | :01:38.
There's an appeal for anyone who saw any suspicious activity | :01:39. | :01:44.
Members of the Sikh community gathered in central Southampton | :01:45. | :01:49.
today to mark the most important date in their religious calendar. | :01:50. | :01:54.
Vaisakhi honours the birth of the Sikh nation in 1699 | :01:55. | :01:56.
Hundreds of people took part in a procession which passed | :01:57. | :02:03.
by all three of the city's Gurdwaras. | :02:04. | :02:07.
Many farms across the south are busy lambing at the moment. | :02:08. | :02:10.
But a few sheep farmers have the added complication | :02:11. | :02:13.
There's a small but growing number of sheep dairy farmers - | :02:14. | :02:18.
Sheep's milk costs around ?4 per litre but claims health | :02:19. | :02:24.
Sean Killick reports from one such farm in West Sussex. | :02:25. | :02:31.
Forget the roast leg of lamb - how about a pint of sheep's milk? | :02:32. | :02:41.
There are only 50 sheep dairies in Britain and most of their milk | :02:42. | :02:45.
But this farm sells mainly bottled, pasteurised milk that is naturally | :02:46. | :02:51.
homogenous, ordered online and posted out frozen. | :02:52. | :02:54.
The majority of our customers are people who may struggle | :02:55. | :02:58.
with other milks but find the digestibility of | :02:59. | :03:01.
Certainly, I think there seems to be a growing trend | :03:02. | :03:06.
And the other people that seem to gravitate towards sheep milk | :03:07. | :03:12.
would be people that suffer from eczema and asthma | :03:13. | :03:14.
The sheep here only produce milk seven months of the year | :03:15. | :03:19.
and currently the family-run farm is busy milking and | :03:20. | :03:21.
My bedroom is right next to them so if I hear a lot of noise, | :03:22. | :03:30.
Not much sleep happens in the three weeks of lambing. | :03:31. | :03:36.
We keep most of the girls because we take them | :03:37. | :03:39.
A lot of the boys go to market or into the meat industry | :03:40. | :03:45.
but they stay with us for a year so that we know they have | :03:46. | :03:49.
had a nice, long life and they are outside. | :03:50. | :03:51.
After their service of milking over the years, | :03:52. | :03:53.
we retire them onto the farm in a very sentimental way. | :03:54. | :03:57.
They keep their lambs and they have a happy | :03:58. | :04:01.
But the key question is, does sheep's milk pass the taste test? | :04:02. | :04:11.
Yeah, I've tried goat's milk before, which I never particularly liked, | :04:12. | :04:13.
It actually is very creamy, it's like gold top dairy milk. | :04:14. | :04:18.
Let's get the weather forecast now with Bee Tucker. | :04:19. | :04:29.
Many of us did see quite a bit of sunshine today. | :04:30. | :04:32.
It did tend to cloud over from the north into the afternoon. | :04:33. | :04:35.
But we had a lot of blue sky initially and despite the wind, | :04:36. | :04:38.
I think if you had a bit of shelter, it did feel fairly | :04:39. | :04:42.
And we have a lot of cloud out there at the moment. | :04:43. | :04:45.
It is giving some rain and it will tend to be cloudy | :04:46. | :04:48.
The winds finally easing, though, and no problems with temperatures, | :04:49. | :04:52.
That does mean tomorrow has quite a grey, damp start to the day | :04:53. | :04:57.
with some light rain and drizzle on and off through the morning. | :04:58. | :05:00.
I think it will tend to brighten up, we should see some decent | :05:01. | :05:03.
Quite a few showers starting to feed in and with lighter winds, | :05:04. | :05:07.
they could be slow-moving and on the heavy side. | :05:08. | :05:09.
Many of us seeing some sunshine, though, and one or two spots | :05:10. | :05:12.
After tomorrow, largely dry for the rest of the week. | :05:13. | :05:15.
I think by day we will see plenty of sunshine but by night it will be | :05:16. | :05:19.
And finally, a strange sight on Bournemouth | :05:20. | :05:23.
Around 50 men in high heels attempted to walk from Boscombe Pier | :05:24. | :05:28.
They were raising funds for Over the Rainbow, | :05:29. | :05:31.
an organisation which supports the LGBT community in Dorset. | :05:32. | :05:36.
Budget cuts mean it may lose the lease on its premises. | :05:37. | :05:41.
The men, who were accompanied by dozens of supporters, | :05:42. | :05:44.
managed to complete their one and a half mile totter | :05:45. | :05:46.
There's more on the BBC News website. | :05:47. | :05:52.
Good evening if you spend Easter under cloudy skies with rain | :05:53. | :06:14.
hopefully I can promise you something brighter for tomorrow, not | :06:15. | :06:19.
much brightness earlier for our | :06:20. | :06:20. |
