The inquest into the death of a teenager who was killed

by a polar bear on a school trip to the Arctic Circle

has been hearing from the expedition leader who was from Plymouth.

Michael Reid said he'd tried to shoot the bear

as it attacked Horatio Chapple but the rifle wouldn't fire.

Our correspondent Sarah Ransome has been listening to the evidence.

The expedition leader Michadl Reid told the coroner's court ex`ctly

what happened on that morning of the 5th of August three xears ago

when the polar bear rampaged through the camp they set up on this

A 42`year`old man from the South Hams has appeared

in court charged with the mtrder of a teenager in Kingsbridgd.

following an alleged row at a taxi rank.

He has been charged with murder following an incident in Kingsbridge

in the early hours of Sundax morning.

17`year`old Alex Peguero Sosa from the Kingsbridge area w`s found

with serious injuries in Prhnce of Wales Road at 2:20am.

He was taken to Derriford Hospital and later pronounced dead.
