Good evening. watts. -- in the vacuum cleaners.

:00:00.:00:12.

An estimated 100,000 people have turned out in Falmouth for finale

:00:13.:00:14.

Just about every vantage point was taken for the parade of sail

:00:15.:00:19.

Hundreds of small craft also took to the water,

:00:20.:00:23.

making it the largest flotilla in Falmouth Bay in living memory.

:00:24.:00:27.

Spotlight's Emma Ruminski has spent the day there.

:00:28.:00:31.

This has to be one of the most perfect spots to watch

:00:32.:00:34.

They think 100,000 people have turned out to watch this.

:00:35.:00:42.

Don't look down, there are lots of people watching you.

:00:43.:00:45.

Every time Falmouth hosts a festival of sailing, it gets bigger.

:00:46.:00:49.

There are twice as many vessels here compared to 2008.

:00:50.:00:54.

Ships lined up for tomorrow's parade.

:00:55.:00:57.

It's seeing them having a wonderful day and then leaving

:00:58.:01:00.

and heading up to London, it's fantastic and a great relief.

:01:01.:01:04.

I'm sure Falmouth will have it back again in a couple of years' time.

:01:05.:01:11.

People were sat waiting for the parade at 9am long before the roads

:01:12.:01:14.

It has got busier as we have sat here as the morning has gone on.

:01:15.:01:21.

But everybody is very friendly, everybody's enjoying the park.

:01:22.:01:26.

If you have ever been on one of the ships, you won't forget it.

:01:27.:01:30.

There are many ex`sailors in the crowd.

:01:31.:01:34.

I did the 1987 race from Weymouth which went

:01:35.:01:37.

And I did the Australian race, the Tall Ships Australian.

:01:38.:01:43.

The organisers claim that the last time Falmouth hosted

:01:44.:01:51.

the Tall Ships Regatta, it generated ?12 million for the local economy.

:01:52.:01:56.

A welcome boost as we near the end of the school holidays.

:01:57.:02:00.

Just looking through the town, the town has been packed.

:02:01.:02:04.

Happy smiling faces, hopefully spending money.

:02:05.:02:07.

Sailors from 20 different nationalities took part.

:02:08.:02:21.

Seven different nationalities `` from seven different nationalities.

:02:22.:02:27.

The sailors are just as diverse as the crew.

:02:28.:02:30.

The newest constructed just six years ago.

:02:31.:02:33.

But it was seeing them all together that made this event so special.

:02:34.:02:36.

The tall ships are on their way out of Falmouth.

:02:37.:02:38.

They will head off up the English Channel, pass the Isle of Wight and

:02:39.:02:42.

stop off at various ports and end up at Royal Greenwich on Tuesday.

:02:43.:02:45.

Police investigating a serious assault in Tiverton in which a woman

:02:46.:02:47.

Armed officers were called to the Old Railway Line at Cowley Moor on

:02:48.:02:52.

Friday night after reports that a 27`year`old woman had been stabbed.

:02:53.:02:55.

The woman's injuries are described as not life threatening.

:02:56.:02:57.

A man was arrested in London and is being brought back to Devon

:02:58.:03:00.

The speed and scale of house building in Cornwall is

:03:01.:03:05.

The Campaign to Protect Rural England claims housing growth in the

:03:06.:03:09.

county, in relation to population, is faster than elsewhere in the UK.

:03:10.:03:12.

Cornwall Council has agreed to 47,000 houses being built over

:03:13.:03:16.

Cornwall Council has around 30,000 people on its housing waiting list.

:03:17.:03:23.

It says it needs new and affordable homes.

:03:24.:03:26.

But critics do not like the council's plans.

:03:27.:03:29.

We have seen developers choosing where they would like to build,

:03:30.:03:32.

where it is cheap for them to build and where

:03:33.:03:35.

We think local people need to be involved in the whole process.

:03:36.:03:41.

The council says it does engage with communities when comes to planning

:03:42.:03:44.

but admits that meeting housing needs while protecting

:03:45.:03:47.

We have policies that protect six AONBs, our SSSIs all those protected

:03:48.:03:57.

landscapes, but there are still housing needs within those AONBs.

:03:58.:04:01.

And getting the quality of design is really important.

:04:02.:04:07.

Affordability is a key issue in Cornwall.

:04:08.:04:09.

In 2011, the National Housing Federation

:04:10.:04:12.

found that average house prices here were 13 times the average wage.

:04:13.:04:17.

In Bodmin, the property market is buoyant, with prices that

:04:18.:04:22.

Definitely a good idea to protect the attractive,

:04:23.:04:27.

rural and coastal areas of Cornwall but there is a big demand for Bodmin

:04:28.:04:30.

with many employment opportunities and a shortfall of housing here.

:04:31.:04:36.

Lots of people looking to buy and rent.

:04:37.:04:41.

If Cornwall Council gets its way, 47,000 new homes will be built

:04:42.:04:44.

If the campaigners get theirs, it will will be far fewer.

:04:45.:04:52.

Good evening. A fairly good evening. Lots of flowers spilling into night.

:04:53.:05:11.

That will lead for `` Lita Grey and damp day tomorrow. Some brightness

:05:12.:05:15.

coming later. Clouds filling in from the West which will become

:05:16.:05:19.

progressively lower through the night bringing hill fog and patchy

:05:20.:05:25.

rain. Quite a murky picture in the early hours. Staying mild and fairly

:05:26.:05:32.

humid. It is really quite greatest things off tomorrow. Dampen places,

:05:33.:05:37.

a bit of hill fog around. We may see some brighter skies around breaking

:05:38.:05:40.

out from the north. A few sunny spells to be had. Temperatures in

:05:41.:05:48.

the high teens. Then a variable story.

:05:49.:05:57.

I am back with our late news at 10:15pm. Join me for that. Goodbye.

:05:58.:06:11.

Good evening. Much of the country has enjoyed some sunshine to finish

:06:12.:06:17.

August. The last couple of hours brought a bit more cloud with some

:06:18.:06:19.

rain for Northern Ireland and western Scotland. That front will

:06:20.:06:23.

continue south through England and Wales overnight

:06:24.:06:25.
