Hello. It's time for our daily look at what lies, weather-wise, | 0:00:02 | 0:00:05
for the week ahead, and indeed a hint towards the end of the month. | 0:00:05 | 0:00:08
We had some violent storms through the weekend, | 0:00:08 | 0:00:11
but those have now eased away, the weather settling down again, | 0:00:11 | 0:00:14
with plenty of dry weather to look forward to through Tuesday. | 0:00:14 | 0:00:17
After a rather grey start for most of us, things will perk up, | 0:00:17 | 0:00:19
with some very warm sunshine once more. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:21
Some rain knocking on the door of Northern Ireland, | 0:00:21 | 0:00:24
but for the rest of us broken cloud and sunshine | 0:00:24 | 0:00:26
should be a typical scenario. This is four o'clock, | 0:00:26 | 0:00:30
and temperatures up into the 20s quite nicely - | 0:00:30 | 0:00:32
mid to high 20s in the sunnier parts of the South. | 0:00:32 | 0:00:34
Across the Irish Sea, a different story. | 0:00:34 | 0:00:36
More cloud, with some outbreaks of rain in Western areas. | 0:00:36 | 0:00:39
Some could be quite heavy, although it won't rain all day long. | 0:00:39 | 0:00:42
Fringing into the Outer Hebrides, but most of Scotland will be dry, | 0:00:42 | 0:00:45
with some sunshine. Notably cooler, though, | 0:00:45 | 0:00:48
along the Eastern coastal fringe, | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
and some coastal counties of Northeast England. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:52
That'll knock the temperatures on the head, | 0:00:52 | 0:00:54
but head any distance inland, with some sunshine, | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
temperatures will respond, up into the mid, possibly high 20s | 0:00:57 | 0:01:00
across some Southern counties, not far off 30 degrees in some places. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:03
So another hot one to come. | 0:01:03 | 0:01:05
We end the day on a fine note, and hopefully | 0:01:05 | 0:01:07
the rain across Northern Ireland will tend to ease away. | 0:01:07 | 0:01:10
It will turn very murky again - high humidity out there, | 0:01:10 | 0:01:13
so some mist and some low cloud, particularly close to coastal areas. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:17
Temperatures in some spots not getting below 16 or 17 degrees. | 0:01:17 | 0:01:20
We keep that muggy theme going through the middle of the week. | 0:01:20 | 0:01:24
High pressure to the North`East, a gentle Easterly wind, | 0:01:24 | 0:01:26
and that's going to push these weather fronts back out Westwards | 0:01:26 | 0:01:30
at least for a time. So again, a lot of dry weather. | 0:01:30 | 0:01:32
It might once more be a rather cloudy, misty start, | 0:01:32 | 0:01:35
and inevitably towards some Eastern coastal counties | 0:01:35 | 0:01:38
it might stay that way, keeping it somewhat cooler. | 0:01:38 | 0:01:41
But for the vast majority | 0:01:41 | 0:01:42
it will be another pleasantly warm, if not hot, day, | 0:01:42 | 0:01:45
and any showers will be very isolated. | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47
So mid to high 20s, much cooler, though, where it does stay misty, | 0:01:47 | 0:01:50
along those North`Eastern coasts. | 0:01:50 | 0:01:52
Now as we head towards Thursday, | 0:01:52 | 0:01:55
we've got to keep our eye on this front | 0:01:55 | 0:01:57
which might start to head back in again from the West. | 0:01:57 | 0:01:59
At this stage, I think most places will stay dry, | 0:01:59 | 0:02:02
or at least start off dry. | 0:02:02 | 0:02:04
But there's an increasing chance of showers breaking out | 0:02:04 | 0:02:07
across Northern Ireland and some Southwestern parts of the UK. | 0:02:07 | 0:02:10
Hopefully not the intense storms we had at the weekend, | 0:02:10 | 0:02:12
but one to keep an eye on, because they will be quite slow-moving. | 0:02:12 | 0:02:16
And a trend through Friday will be for the pressure to continue to | 0:02:16 | 0:02:19
fall away, which does mean there will be scattered showers around. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:23
Slow-moving affairs, very difficult to get the detail right, | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
but it does look as though the more Southern parts of the UK | 0:02:25 | 0:02:28
and some Western fringes are most prone to some downpours. | 0:02:28 | 0:02:31
But in any sunshine, again, it will feel warm. | 0:02:31 | 0:02:34
By the weekend, certainly some more prolonged outbreaks of rain | 0:02:34 | 0:02:37
look likely, most likely across the more Western areas, | 0:02:37 | 0:02:40
but once more, in any sunshine, we keep some pretty high temperatures. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:44
Now, beyond that, well, we've got a split decision, really. | 0:02:44 | 0:02:47
There's a low chance the high pressure will start to build in again | 0:02:47 | 0:02:50
through the early part of next week, | 0:02:50 | 0:02:52
settling the weather down once more | 0:02:52 | 0:02:53
with plenty more dry, warm, sunny weather. | 0:02:53 | 0:02:56
However I think what is more likely is that the high | 0:02:56 | 0:02:59
will retreat back Southwestwards, and that will allow | 0:02:59 | 0:03:01
something of a westerly flow to come in off the Atlantic. | 0:03:01 | 0:03:04
Closest to the high in the South, it stays mostly dry. | 0:03:04 | 0:03:07
Further North, cooler, more unsettled, | 0:03:07 | 0:03:10
with perhaps some outbreaks of rain. | 0:03:10 | 0:03:11
So on balance, I think that's the most likely indication | 0:03:11 | 0:03:14
through the early part of next week. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:16
It's a split decision - mixed signals in the computer models - | 0:03:16 | 0:03:19
but Southern areas probably driest and warmest and sunniest, | 0:03:19 | 0:03:22
further North rather more unsettled, with a breeze | 0:03:22 | 0:03:25
and some outbreaks of rain at times. | 0:03:25 | 0:03:27
We'll keep an eye on it here at the Weather Centre. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:29 |
