Hello. There are some changes on the way this weekend.

0:00:020:00:05

Wednesday, though, was the hottest day of the year so far

0:00:050:00:08

in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales,

0:00:080:00:10

and there's more heat widely on Thursday.

0:00:100:00:13

A misty start for Northeast England,

0:00:130:00:16

Eastern Scotland, Central Lowlands,

0:00:160:00:18

that cloud burned back to the North Sea coast.

0:00:180:00:21

Sunshine and soaring temperatures,

0:00:210:00:23

maybe a shower or two,

0:00:230:00:24

most likely across Devon and Cornwall.

0:00:240:00:27

Probably going to be a dry day across Wales.

0:00:270:00:30

Lots of sunshine. 30 degrees in Powys on Wednesday.

0:00:300:00:34

Won't be far off that on Thursday.

0:00:340:00:36

Another hot day for Northern Ireland,

0:00:360:00:39

the chance of a shower in Fermanagh and Tyrone.

0:00:390:00:43

Should be a dry day for Scotland,

0:00:430:00:46

low cloud slow to clear through the Moray Firth,

0:00:460:00:48

lingering up towards Shetland

0:00:480:00:51

and coastal areas,

0:00:510:00:53

but 25 degrees for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

0:00:530:00:56

Very warm across Northern England

0:00:560:00:58

away from some of those coastal areas,

0:00:580:01:01

high temperatures in the sunshine.

0:01:010:01:03

It's possible we could get a shower in Hampshire and Sussex,

0:01:030:01:07

but much of Southern England will have a dry day.

0:01:070:01:10

Any thundery showers in the Southwest

0:01:100:01:13

will slip away during the evening

0:01:130:01:15

so it should be a dry night,

0:01:150:01:17

another warm and muggy one again,

0:01:170:01:20

low cloud coming back inland

0:01:200:01:22

further into Scotland and the Northeast of England.

0:01:220:01:25

High pressure has been with us for quite some time.

0:01:250:01:28

It's blocking weather fronts from off the Atlantic

0:01:280:01:31

and it's still there on Friday.

0:01:310:01:34

Around the base of the high pressure, we've got blustery winds

0:01:340:01:38

across East Anglia and the Southeast of England,

0:01:380:01:40

low cloud again burning back

0:01:400:01:43

but lingering around some coastal areas,

0:01:430:01:45

otherwise we'll see sunshine,

0:01:450:01:48

maybe one or two showers developing in Scotland,

0:01:480:01:51

and the risk of a thundery one in Southern England,

0:01:510:01:54

thanks to the heat later in the day.

0:01:540:01:56

Another very warm, if not hot day.

0:01:560:01:58

Things change in time for the weekend.

0:01:580:02:01

Low pressure nibbling at that high pressure

0:02:010:02:04

is going to introduce this front.

0:02:040:02:06

That will start to bring wetter weather into Northern Ireland

0:02:060:02:09

and Western fringes of Scotland,

0:02:090:02:11

and this showery rain pushes further across Scotland,

0:02:110:02:15

Northern Ireland, maybe Northwest England

0:02:150:02:18

and Wales. For most of England and Wales,

0:02:180:02:21

a dry day. The heat still there,

0:02:210:02:23

maybe triggering a thundery shower

0:02:230:02:26

in the Southeast later.

0:02:260:02:27

That weather front slips Southeastwards on Sunday,

0:02:270:02:30

high pressure building in behind

0:02:300:02:32

but leaving us with a Northerly breeze.

0:02:320:02:35

That'll drop the temperatures

0:02:350:02:37

and we'll see showers across the Eastern side of England,

0:02:370:02:40

although one or two never too far away from Scotland, Northern Ireland,

0:02:400:02:43

but it won't be as hot as it is at the moment.

0:02:430:02:46

Monday - 25 degrees in the Southeast,

0:02:460:02:49

but there are some weather fronts to bring patchy rain

0:02:490:02:53

to the Northwest of Scotland,

0:02:530:02:55

maybe the North of Northern Ireland.

0:02:550:02:57

As we head into next week, there will be some subtle changes.

0:02:570:03:00

High pressure is never far away.

0:03:000:03:03

The position is crucial.

0:03:030:03:04

For a while, it looks like that high pressure will slip further South,

0:03:040:03:09

keeping Southern areas dry

0:03:090:03:11

but we'll get more unsettled weather coming into Northern parts of the UK.

0:03:110:03:16

So, what does it mean? Some sunshine, yes,

0:03:160:03:19

but there won't be an awful lot of rain at all

0:03:190:03:22

and whilst it's not going to be hot,

0:03:220:03:24

still, for many of us,

0:03:240:03:26

those temperatures close to or above average for the time of year.
