Hello. After a wintry weekend,

0:00:020:00:03

temperatures steadily on the rise through the week ahead.

0:00:030:00:07

Now, they're not going to be as high

0:00:070:00:09

as they were for much of last week, peaking in the mid-teens,

0:00:090:00:12

but they will be higher than they were through this weekend,

0:00:120:00:15

when many of us were struggling at just 4 or 5 Celsius.

0:00:150:00:18

The temperatures this week back up to double figures for many

0:00:180:00:21

and actually back where they haven't been for most of November,

0:00:210:00:24

around about the average. So yes, after a frosty, foggy start,

0:00:240:00:29

temperatures will be on the rise through this week.

0:00:290:00:31

Turning milder, there'll be some strong winds around

0:00:310:00:34

and there'll be bouts of rain too,

0:00:340:00:35

the first of which will track

0:00:350:00:37

through Scotland and Northern Ireland

0:00:370:00:38

during Monday, steadily sinking southwards.

0:00:380:00:41

England and Wales, dry, bright

0:00:410:00:42

first day of the working week, with some sunshine,

0:00:420:00:44

but some dense fog patches around early on

0:00:440:00:47

and, for some, particularly across East Anglia and the south-east,

0:00:470:00:49

that fog could linger all day.

0:00:490:00:51

If it does, temperatures are going to struggle

0:00:510:00:53

to get above 3 or 4 Celsius, but generally,

0:00:530:00:55

7 or 8 degrees at the very best,

0:00:550:00:58

but the Outer Hebrides could be the warm spot on Monday.

0:00:580:01:01

Double figures possible here.

0:01:010:01:03

The milder but wetter weather

0:01:030:01:04

sinks its way steadily southwards

0:01:040:01:06

during the course of Monday night

0:01:060:01:07

and into Tuesday morning.

0:01:070:01:09

It is, of course, a weather front,

0:01:090:01:11

behind which - follow the isobars -

0:01:110:01:13

they're no longer pointing to the Arctic,

0:01:130:01:15

like they have been through much of this weekend,

0:01:150:01:17

they're pointing to the North Atlantic.

0:01:170:01:20

It's not exactly warm,

0:01:200:01:21

but it's a lot milder than it has been.

0:01:210:01:23

The weather front is still bringing rain

0:01:230:01:25

across East Anglia and the south-east

0:01:250:01:27

on Tuesday morning,

0:01:270:01:28

but should scoot away quite sharply,

0:01:280:01:29

then we're left with sunny spells, chiefly in the east -

0:01:290:01:32

north-east England, eastern Scotland

0:01:320:01:34

having a decent day, along with south-west England -

0:01:340:01:36

and plenty of showers coming in from the Atlantic on that wind.

0:01:360:01:39

Some of those showers could be quite heavy.

0:01:390:01:42

Now, the weather front's well and truly

0:01:420:01:44

out of the way by Tuesday afternoon.

0:01:440:01:45

A subtle shift in the isobars.

0:01:450:01:47

They're pointing a little bit further north,

0:01:470:01:49

but it's not going to be desperately cold on Wednesday.

0:01:490:01:52

The main difference will be that shift

0:01:520:01:54

to bring more showers down the eastern side

0:01:540:01:57

of England on Wednesday.

0:01:570:01:58

Still some in the west, down the spine of the UK.

0:01:580:02:00

Many places looking dry on Wednesday.

0:02:000:02:02

A big area of high pressure is dominating.

0:02:020:02:04

It's well away from the UK, but it's keeping

0:02:040:02:06

the weather front well to the north.

0:02:060:02:08

This warm front will introduce

0:02:080:02:10

maybe some cloud and patchy rain to Scotland for a time,

0:02:100:02:13

but it will also, as a warm front,

0:02:130:02:15

introduce warmer air and temperatures,

0:02:150:02:17

by Thursday, more widely over double figures.

0:02:170:02:20

They could reach 12 or 13 in Northern Ireland,

0:02:200:02:23

because milder air is following in for Thursday behind that warm front.

0:02:230:02:28

Behind it, you'll notice, however, some cold air,

0:02:280:02:30

which is spreading quickly towards us by Friday.

0:02:300:02:33

That's behind another cold front.

0:02:330:02:36

Now, that will bring cloud and rain

0:02:360:02:37

into the west quite quickly on Friday,

0:02:370:02:39

swinging across the UK,

0:02:390:02:40

plenty of isobars on the chart,

0:02:400:02:42

so it will be quite blustery.

0:02:420:02:44

And that cold air is set to arrive as we go in towards next weekend,

0:02:440:02:48

but it doesn't last as, through the weekend,

0:02:480:02:50

we'll see some warmer air returning

0:02:500:02:52

before the threat of colder air pushes back in later on.

0:02:520:02:55

So, for next weekend and into the early part of next week,

0:02:550:02:59

we'll start to see the weather, well, flip-flopping a little bit more,

0:02:590:03:02

thanks to the jet stream, that fast-moving ribbon of air,

0:03:020:03:05

well to the north of the UK for most of this week, but come next weekend,

0:03:050:03:09

it's back driving its way south across the UK

0:03:090:03:12

and it's that fast-moving ribbon of air high up, of course,

0:03:120:03:16

that drives our weather systems.

0:03:160:03:18

So, with them moving back towards the UK, the weather more changeable.

0:03:180:03:20

There'll be spells of wet and windy weather

0:03:200:03:23

into the following week, with temperatures...

0:03:230:03:25

Well, cool days, milder days,

0:03:250:03:27

but overall around average.

0:03:270:03:29

My life is coming to an end.
