Hello there. Of course, the weather around the world is linked together

0:00:020:00:05

and, if we've seen very heavy snow from a deep area of low pressure

0:00:050:00:08

across the eastern side of the United States in the last day or so,

0:00:080:00:12

this low is going to be heading our way,

0:00:120:00:14

but as it makes its way across the Atlantic,

0:00:140:00:16

it will become a rather different beast.

0:00:160:00:18

It'll begin to warm up and I think any snow

0:00:180:00:20

will turn to rain pretty quickly,

0:00:200:00:22

but still going to bring a lot of isobars to the UK.

0:00:220:00:24

That means it's going to be windy and wet.

0:00:240:00:27

Very large rainfall totals, Tuesday in particular.

0:00:270:00:29

But at least staying mild over the next few days,

0:00:290:00:32

with a southerly breeze, and those temperatures

0:00:320:00:34

should be a good few degrees above the seasonal average.

0:00:340:00:37

And pretty mild overnight tonight.

0:00:370:00:39

Actually, a very mild day on Sunday,

0:00:390:00:41

with a lot of cloud.

0:00:410:00:42

Early rain in the north becomes light and patchy.

0:00:420:00:44

Patchy rain across some western coasts and hills,

0:00:440:00:47

along the south coast too.

0:00:470:00:48

Inland, a lot of cloud, not much rain.

0:00:480:00:50

A few breaks in the cloud east of the Pennines.

0:00:500:00:52

Around the Moray Firth could get above 13 degrees.

0:00:520:00:54

13 degrees would be the afternoon high

0:00:540:00:56

for many major towns and cities.

0:00:560:00:58

Very mild indeed.

0:00:580:01:00

It looks pretty mild into Sunday night.

0:01:000:01:02

Again, a lot of cloud, not much rain.

0:01:020:01:04

Some in the north and west, with a bit of a breeze.

0:01:040:01:07

But many places will be fine and dry

0:01:070:01:09

and, by dawn on Monday,

0:01:090:01:10

many places are hanging on to double figures.

0:01:100:01:12

Slightly clearer skies further east

0:01:120:01:14

and maybe temperatures slipping into singles,

0:01:140:01:16

but all in all, it'll be a mild night.

0:01:160:01:18

Monday, a mild day for all areas.

0:01:180:01:20

Best sunshine probably with the clearest skies.

0:01:200:01:23

Some sunshine for East Anglia

0:01:230:01:24

and south-east, at least initially.

0:01:240:01:26

Further north and west, cloud is gathering,

0:01:260:01:28

rain moving in, winds picking up as well.

0:01:280:01:30

But still in mild air for the most part.

0:01:300:01:33

13-14 degrees - really good going

0:01:330:01:36

for this time of the year.

0:01:360:01:37

Then, as we get on into Tuesday,

0:01:370:01:39

that big low has crossed the Atlantic

0:01:390:01:41

and, as I say, it's a different beast

0:01:410:01:43

when it hits our shores - it's about wind strength,

0:01:430:01:46

which could be gale or severe gale force

0:01:460:01:48

in the north and west and we'll see a lot of rain

0:01:480:01:50

in some northern and western areas.

0:01:500:01:52

We could well see quite widely 100mm

0:01:520:01:54

or maybe even more than that.

0:01:540:01:56

Quite a bit more than that certainly possible.

0:01:560:01:58

So keep an eye on the forecast.

0:01:580:02:00

We'll firm up on the details.

0:02:000:02:01

That low still affecting us into Wednesday,

0:02:010:02:03

slowly drifting its way towards Scandinavia,

0:02:030:02:06

so it starts off quite windy,

0:02:060:02:08

but becomes not so windy into the afternoon,

0:02:080:02:10

but this trailing weather front will cause problems

0:02:100:02:12

across the south of the UK -

0:02:120:02:14

getting forecasts right for that will be difficult.

0:02:140:02:16

But otherwise, Wednesday looks mild but windy,

0:02:160:02:19

and a lot of cloud and outbreaks of rain.

0:02:190:02:21

Heaviest of course always in the south.

0:02:210:02:23

Things calm down through Thursday,

0:02:230:02:25

still question marks about the position

0:02:250:02:27

of this waving weather front.

0:02:270:02:28

Another weather front to the north and west.

0:02:280:02:30

But in between, doing quite well on Thursday,

0:02:300:02:33

with a lot of dry weather.

0:02:330:02:34

Windy towards the north-west of the UK

0:02:340:02:36

and south-east, with most of the cloud and rain.

0:02:360:02:39

In between, it looks like a reasonable day,

0:02:390:02:40

but temperatures dipping back into single figures,

0:02:400:02:43

but a few of us will still be relatively mild.

0:02:430:02:46

Then into next weekend and beyond,

0:02:460:02:48

this is the overall pattern of the jet stream.

0:02:480:02:50

It looks like it'll meander its way across the northern hemisphere.

0:02:500:02:53

When it's on top of us, it'll be driving areas of low pressure,

0:02:530:02:56

which brings wind and rain, but sometimes,

0:02:560:02:58

we'll be on the cold side and sometimes on the warm side,

0:02:580:03:00

so temperatures will be a bit up and down as well.

0:03:000:03:03

So spells of rain mainly in the north and west

0:03:030:03:05

and quite windy conditions here.

0:03:050:03:06

It'll be that bit drier down towards the south-eastern corner.

0:03:060:03:09

Not completely dry, but that bit dry.

0:03:090:03:11

So, in summary, into next weekend and beyond,

0:03:110:03:14

the weather remains quite changeable,

0:03:140:03:16

there will be some spells of wind and rain at times

0:03:160:03:18

and we'll also see changes in those temperatures.

0:03:180:03:21

There will be some frost at times, but, other times, relatively mild

0:03:210:03:25

and the best of the dry weather,

0:03:250:03:26

as we've seen, in the south-eastern corner. Bye for now.
