Hello. The weather is turning a bit quieter for all of us

0:00:030:00:06

as we head into the weekend.

0:00:060:00:07

That's good news after a pretty dramatic week of weather.

0:00:070:00:09

That's been captured by our Weather Watchers.

0:00:090:00:11

He was a thunderstorm earlier on

0:00:110:00:13

on Friday in Brackley, Northamptonshire.

0:00:130:00:15

You can see the big storm clouds with thunder and lightning.

0:00:150:00:18

It's not been raining everywhere.

0:00:180:00:20

We have had decent spells of sunshine

0:00:200:00:22

in between some of those hefty shower clouds too.

0:00:220:00:25

But as we head through Saturday and Sunday,

0:00:250:00:27

we'll see a ridge of high pressure

0:00:270:00:29

in charge of the weather,

0:00:290:00:31

weather fronts trying to push in

0:00:310:00:32

from the west later on Sunday.

0:00:320:00:34

They will tend to bump into that area of high pressure.

0:00:340:00:37

So Saturday shaping up to be a fairly fine day.

0:00:370:00:39

Certainly much drier compared to recently.

0:00:390:00:42

Still quite cloudy

0:00:420:00:43

for central and eastern areas

0:00:430:00:44

where there could be

0:00:440:00:46

one or two isolated showers.

0:00:460:00:47

Further north and west,

0:00:470:00:49

plenty of sunshine for Scotland, Wales too.

0:00:490:00:51

We could see temperatures in Birmingham

0:00:510:00:53

up to around 19 degrees.

0:00:530:00:54

So a relatively decent day on Saturday.

0:00:540:00:56

As we end the day, the cloud in the east thins,

0:00:560:00:58

so some late brightness.

0:00:580:00:59

Into the early hours of Sunday morning, most places dry,

0:00:590:01:02

but you'll notice this patchy light rain

0:01:020:01:04

pushing into western areas.

0:01:040:01:06

That's the front coming in

0:01:060:01:07

bumping into that high pressure,

0:01:070:01:09

tending to fizzle out this initial front.

0:01:090:01:11

It will bring drizzle

0:01:110:01:12

to parts of Northern Ireland, western Scotland,

0:01:120:01:14

Wales and the south-west of England

0:01:140:01:16

at times on Sunday.

0:01:160:01:17

Eastern areas have another decent day,

0:01:170:01:19

with sunny spells lasting through the day

0:01:190:01:21

and temperatures up to 21 Celsius.

0:01:210:01:24

But a second band of heavier rain

0:01:240:01:25

heads in across western areas,

0:01:250:01:27

particularly for Northern Ireland,

0:01:270:01:28

Western Scotland later in the day.

0:01:280:01:30

There's the front that brought the rain

0:01:300:01:32

on Sunday to western areas.

0:01:320:01:33

By the time we get to Monday,

0:01:330:01:34

it will have moved across the country

0:01:340:01:36

heading eastwards.

0:01:360:01:37

Still some rain lingering for a time

0:01:370:01:39

during the day on Monday,

0:01:390:01:40

quite a blustery day too.

0:01:400:01:41

There could be some spells of rain

0:01:410:01:43

initially for some eastern

0:01:430:01:45

and southern parts of the country.

0:01:450:01:46

That's followed from the west

0:01:460:01:48

with fresher conditions

0:01:480:01:49

and a return to sunshine and scattered showers.

0:01:490:01:51

In the east, temperatures up to 19 degrees or so.

0:01:510:01:54

Not a bad day.

0:01:540:01:55

Tuesday looks like the quietest day of the week.

0:01:550:01:58

Once that front has gone,

0:01:580:01:59

we're left with a south-westerly airflow,

0:01:590:02:01

a bit windy towards the far north-west.

0:02:010:02:03

Elsewhere, relatively light winds,

0:02:030:02:05

21 degrees or so.

0:02:050:02:06

Looking into the middle of the week,

0:02:060:02:08

we've got a big area of high pressure

0:02:080:02:10

holding on towards the south-east,

0:02:100:02:12

so situated across

0:02:120:02:13

central parts of continental Europe.

0:02:130:02:16

Meanwhile, a front is trying

0:02:160:02:17

to head in from the Atlantic.

0:02:170:02:18

So, for Wednesday, we're set to see

0:02:180:02:20

some spells of rain

0:02:200:02:21

for northern and western areas for a time.

0:02:210:02:23

Further south and east,

0:02:230:02:25

you should see drier and brighter weather

0:02:250:02:27

and temperatures on the rise.

0:02:270:02:28

Up to around 23 degrees towards the London region.

0:02:280:02:31

So that warming trend continues through Wednesday

0:02:310:02:34

and on into Thursday

0:02:340:02:35

as we start to draw in

0:02:350:02:36

air from a southerly direction

0:02:360:02:38

around that area of high pressure,

0:02:380:02:40

at least to the southern half of the country.

0:02:400:02:42

So, further ahead,

0:02:420:02:43

later next week we'll see

0:02:430:02:44

a bit of a kink in the jet stream.

0:02:440:02:46

Ahead of that jet stream, this is looking into Thursday now,

0:02:460:02:50

we'll draw in that fairly warm, humid air

0:02:500:02:53

towards southern parts of the country,

0:02:530:02:55

whereas low pressure will affect the far North.

0:02:550:02:57

So there could be spells of rain for Scotland, Northern Ireland too.

0:02:570:03:00

Further south and east, warm and humid,

0:03:000:03:03

but the chance of some thundery downpours at times.

0:03:030:03:06

Into next weekend it looks like the jet stream flattens out a bit.

0:03:060:03:09

We have high pressure keeping things dry and settled in southern areas.

0:03:090:03:12

Low pressure moves in from the Atlantic further north.

0:03:120:03:15

Again a bit of a split as we head into next weekend.

0:03:150:03:18

Some unsettled weather

0:03:180:03:19

in northern and north-western parts of the country with some rain.

0:03:190:03:22

Further south, we're likely to see drier,

0:03:220:03:24

warmer and brighter conditions developing.

0:03:240:03:27

Things looking fairly unsettled,

0:03:270:03:28

but we'll keep you up-to-date right here. Bye-bye.
