It's been another unsettled week. | 0:00:03 | 0:00:04
We've had plenty of interruptions to play at Wimbledon, for instance. | 0:00:04 | 0:00:08
That's really continued the theme of much of the month of June. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:10
Now we're into July, | 0:00:10 | 0:00:12
taking a quick look back at the provisional statistics. | 0:00:12 | 0:00:14
It was a dull and a damp month. Slightly warmer than average. | 0:00:14 | 0:00:17
And the sunniest of the weather was found across Shetland. | 0:00:17 | 0:00:20
But many of us were lacking the sunshine. | 0:00:20 | 0:00:22
Here's a picture taken by one of our weather watchers on Saturday. | 0:00:22 | 0:00:25
The first half of the weekend brought that typical mix | 0:00:25 | 0:00:28
of sunshine and heavy showers across much of the country. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:31
Onto Sunday, it will be the better day of the weekend. | 0:00:31 | 0:00:33
So I think fewer showers, lighter winds, | 0:00:33 | 0:00:35
and a bit more in the way of sunshine. | 0:00:35 | 0:00:37
Bit of showery rain for a time along the English Channel. | 0:00:37 | 0:00:40
That could affect the Channel Isles, the Isle of Wight, | 0:00:40 | 0:00:42
the far south coast. | 0:00:42 | 0:00:43
And some showers also still for Scotland, | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
where it will be quite breezy. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:47
But elsewhere across the UK, lots of dry weather, | 0:00:47 | 0:00:50
and temperatures ranging between around about 15 to 22 degrees. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:53
It will feel pleasant with the light winds and the sunshine, | 0:00:53 | 0:00:56
particularly in the south. | 0:00:56 | 0:00:58
But we haven't quite lost that unsettled theme | 0:00:58 | 0:01:00
as we head through Sunday night into the new working week, | 0:01:00 | 0:01:02
as this waving weather front starts to move in from the Atlantic. | 0:01:02 | 0:01:05
There's some uncertainty about the behaviour of this front. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:08
But it looks like we'll see a spell of rain initially | 0:01:08 | 0:01:11
for parts of Wales, perhaps pushing through the Midlands, | 0:01:11 | 0:01:13
up towards northern England for a time, too. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:15
To the south of that, it's a drier story, | 0:01:15 | 0:01:17
and with the south-westerly breeze, | 0:01:17 | 0:01:19
feeling quite warm and humid at around 21 degrees. | 0:01:19 | 0:01:22
Further north, to the north of the front, | 0:01:22 | 0:01:24
a little bit fresher feel to things with sunshine and showers. | 0:01:24 | 0:01:26
But early through this coming week, it looks like humid air will start | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
to just drift in from the south-west, | 0:01:29 | 0:01:32
bringing a different feel to the weather. | 0:01:32 | 0:01:34
Although temperatures not too dissimilar from the past few days. | 0:01:34 | 0:01:37
That humidity will bring a different feel. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:39
A bit of a muggy feel at times, and the more humid conditions | 0:01:39 | 0:01:42
could just spark a few heavy showers and thunderstorms, | 0:01:42 | 0:01:44
perhaps, on Tuesday, across some south-eastern areas. | 0:01:44 | 0:01:46
Sunshine and showers, | 0:01:46 | 0:01:48
but I think a lot of dry weather in between any of the showers. | 0:01:48 | 0:01:51
16 to 22 degrees. | 0:01:51 | 0:01:52
Looking on into the middle of the week, we've got this ridge | 0:01:52 | 0:01:55
of high pressure which is pushing in from the south-west, | 0:01:55 | 0:01:58
so that will quieten things down. | 0:01:58 | 0:01:59
I think most places going to be dry on Wednesday. | 0:01:59 | 0:02:01
We can't rule out perhaps one or two showers lingering in the east. | 0:02:01 | 0:02:04
Perhaps a bit of rain in the far north-west also, | 0:02:04 | 0:02:07
but I think for much of the country, | 0:02:07 | 0:02:08
light winds and a largely dry day to come on Wednesday, | 0:02:08 | 0:02:11
with highs around about 14 to 22 Celsius. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:14
A similar picture on Thursday - high pressure still holding on, | 0:02:14 | 0:02:17
particularly across England and Wales. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:19
We could well see the breeze picking up cloud moving in | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
and outbreaks of rain later on for Northern Ireland and for Scotland. | 0:02:21 | 0:02:24
But we've still got the relatively warm | 0:02:24 | 0:02:26
and humid conditions further south-east. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:29
As we look towards the end of the week, then, Thursday into Friday, | 0:02:29 | 0:02:32
a weather front heading in towards the north-west, | 0:02:32 | 0:02:35
and high pressure holding on towards the south-east. | 0:02:35 | 0:02:38
That means we've got this south-westerly flow of air | 0:02:38 | 0:02:41
as we head towards the latter part of this coming week. | 0:02:41 | 0:02:43
Weather fronts moving in on that south-westerly breeze. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:46
It's likely we'll see spells of rain, windy conditions at times, | 0:02:46 | 0:02:49
particularly towards the north-west of the country. | 0:02:49 | 0:02:51
Less windy, drier, and warmer weather holding on | 0:02:51 | 0:02:54
towards the south-east later in the week. | 0:02:54 | 0:02:56
Looking even further ahead, on into next weekend, | 0:02:56 | 0:02:59
it looks like those weather fronts | 0:02:59 | 0:03:00
will move their way across the country, | 0:03:00 | 0:03:02
once again introducing fresher conditions, | 0:03:02 | 0:03:04
a little bit like this one, across all parts, | 0:03:04 | 0:03:06
with that mix of sunshine and showers set to return. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:09
Fairly similar to how we started the period. | 0:03:09 | 0:03:12
So, looking ahead over the next ten days or so, | 0:03:12 | 0:03:14
all in all, here's a summary. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:16
Staying unsettled, with spells of rain or showers. | 0:03:16 | 0:03:18
It will be humid at times, particularly in the south-east, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:21
but it's also towards the south-east | 0:03:21 | 0:03:23
that we should see the driest and the warmest conditions at times. | 0:03:23 | 0:03:26
We'll keep you up-to-date right here once again tomorrow. Bye-bye. | 0:03:26 | 0:03:29
