Hello. It's been another unsettled week weather-wise.

0:00:030:00:05

We've had plenty of showers,

0:00:050:00:06

lots of interruptions to play for the first week at Wimbledon.

0:00:060:00:09

But as we have a look through the week ahead,

0:00:090:00:11

things are quietening down somewhat.

0:00:110:00:13

We'll have a little bit more in the way of sunshine,

0:00:130:00:16

less rain around, and temperatures recovering,

0:00:160:00:18

so things will start to feel a little bit warmer for a time

0:00:180:00:21

through the course of the week ahead.

0:00:210:00:23

We start off Monday, plenty of dry and sunny weather

0:00:230:00:26

for much of the UK, particularly in the east.

0:00:260:00:28

You'll notice this area of rain initially across Northern Ireland.

0:00:280:00:31

That will head its way eastwards across southern Scotland,

0:00:310:00:34

northern England and the north-west of Wales during the afternoon.

0:00:340:00:37

To the south of that, 21 degrees.

0:00:370:00:39

After a sunny start, things will cloud over across England and Wales.

0:00:390:00:42

Fresher conditions to the north of that weather front,

0:00:420:00:45

with a mix of sunshine and showers.

0:00:450:00:47

Moving through Monday evening and overnight,

0:00:470:00:49

this area of rain gradually drifts off towards the east,

0:00:490:00:52

but it will leave behind it

0:00:520:00:53

a legacy of quite a lot of low cloud, some drizzle,

0:00:530:00:56

and some hill fog to start the day on Tuesday.

0:00:560:00:58

So I think Tuesday, for many of us,

0:00:580:01:00

will dawn on a little bit of a murky note,

0:01:000:01:02

but it will be a rapidly improving weather story.

0:01:020:01:04

As we head through Tuesday,

0:01:040:01:06

that low pressure that brought the rain on Monday

0:01:060:01:08

will push away towards the east,

0:01:080:01:09

and that opens the doors for higher pressure

0:01:090:01:11

to start to move in from the south-west.

0:01:110:01:14

So, during Tuesday, we're still expecting a few showers

0:01:140:01:16

for parts of Scotland, perhaps eastern England, too.

0:01:160:01:19

The showers should ease during the day

0:01:190:01:21

as higher pressure builds from the west.

0:01:210:01:23

And with the light winds, 22 or 23 degrees or so.

0:01:230:01:25

Should feel quite pleasant in the south, the mid- to the high teens.

0:01:250:01:28

That little bit fresher further north.

0:01:280:01:30

Moving through into the middle part of the week,

0:01:300:01:32

we'll start to see these Atlantic weather systems

0:01:320:01:35

trying to push in towards the north-west,

0:01:350:01:37

but they're bumping into this ridge of high pressure.

0:01:370:01:39

That high pressure brings not only drier conditions,

0:01:390:01:42

but also warmer air and more humid air

0:01:420:01:44

that piles in from the south-west,

0:01:440:01:46

bringing a different feel to the weather than we've seen recently.

0:01:460:01:50

A little bit warmer, a little bit more humid for Wednesday.

0:01:500:01:53

Plenty of sunshine on offer.

0:01:530:01:55

Rather more cloud in the north-west, a bit breezy.

0:01:550:01:57

There could be the odd spot of rain

0:01:570:01:59

for parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland.

0:01:590:02:01

England and Wales staying dry at around 22 or 23 degrees.

0:02:010:02:04

Heading through into the second half of the week.

0:02:040:02:06

We'll start to see these low-pressure systems

0:02:060:02:09

just nudging these fronts into northern

0:02:090:02:11

and western parts of the UK.

0:02:110:02:13

So I think on Thursday,

0:02:130:02:14

fairly cloudy and breezy for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:02:140:02:17

There could be some spells of rain.

0:02:170:02:18

England and Wales are more likely to stay

0:02:180:02:20

with the drier and brighter weather,

0:02:200:02:22

with temperatures ranging between around 17 to 23 degrees.

0:02:220:02:25

So certainly those temperatures will be on the rise later in the week.

0:02:250:02:29

Looking towards the end of the week, on into Friday now.

0:02:290:02:31

Low pressure again trying to move in,

0:02:310:02:34

but once again, it's bumping into that ridge of high pressure

0:02:340:02:36

that holds on across much of the country for Friday.

0:02:360:02:39

Friday's shaping up to be a pretty decent day, then.

0:02:390:02:41

Light winds, sunny spells. 24 or 25 degrees.

0:02:410:02:44

Could be the warmest day of the week.

0:02:440:02:46

And then further ahead,

0:02:460:02:48

so we're now looking at next weekend and beyond.

0:02:480:02:51

We'll start to see the jet stream strengthening from the Atlantic,

0:02:510:02:54

moving its way west to east,

0:02:540:02:56

and that will give a little bit more drive to these weather systems

0:02:560:02:59

that are trying to push in from the Atlantic.

0:02:590:03:01

So it looks like, further ahead in the period,

0:03:010:03:04

we will start to see low-pressure systems in the Atlantic

0:03:040:03:06

moving their way from west to east across much of the country.

0:03:060:03:10

That high pressure just about slipping away

0:03:100:03:13

towards the near constant.

0:03:130:03:14

So after a relatively dry and warm week,

0:03:140:03:16

we are looking at windy, cooler conditions developing,

0:03:160:03:19

with some rain at times.

0:03:190:03:21

But it looks like we'll hold on to the driest and the brightest

0:03:210:03:23

of the conditions towards the south and the south-east.

0:03:230:03:26

We'll update you, once again, here tomorrow. Bye-bye.

0:03:260:03:29

Gregg and Chris are back to help us slash the weekly food bill.

0:03:320:03:35

Let's get to work.
