We started the week with some pretty hot weather,

0:00:020:00:05

30 degrees in London makes it the hottest day of the year so far.

0:00:050:00:07

But we are going to eclipse that through the day on Tuesday.

0:00:070:00:11

We start off on a very warm,

0:00:110:00:13

humid note with a lot of sunshine and light winds too.

0:00:130:00:16

And with all that sunshine we're going to see those

0:00:160:00:18

temperatures rocketing away into the afternoon.

0:00:180:00:21

It's going to be a very hot afternoon pretty much

0:00:210:00:24

across the board.

0:00:240:00:25

The eastern coast of Scotland might be just a little bit less hot -

0:00:250:00:28

17 or 18 degrees. But move inland, it is low 20s.

0:00:280:00:30

The south-west of Scotland will probably see temperatures

0:00:300:00:33

at 27 or 28 degrees.

0:00:330:00:34

28, 29, 30-odd degrees across parts of northern England.

0:00:340:00:39

31 there in Leeds. Similar temperatures in London.

0:00:390:00:42

So the heat is really quite widespread.

0:00:420:00:44

Some parts of the Midlands will see the highest temperatures -

0:00:440:00:47

34, maybe even 35 degrees.

0:00:470:00:48

So a sweltering afternoon for many.

0:00:480:00:51

The south coast and the south-west of England not quite so hot,

0:00:510:00:54

but the north coast not far from 30 Celsius and we'll probably

0:00:540:00:57

see 30 degrees in the south of Wales

0:00:570:00:59

even the west of Wales around about 30 Celsius mark.

0:00:590:01:01

As we head up towards Northern Ireland,

0:01:010:01:03

here it is more like the middle to upper 20s, but notice

0:01:030:01:06

a few showers just creeping in

0:01:060:01:08

towards the west through the afternoon.

0:01:080:01:10

Those will become quite noticeable through the evening,

0:01:100:01:12

some of those will turn heavy and thundery.

0:01:120:01:14

Could be some torrential downpours moving up into Scotland and

0:01:140:01:17

the north-west of England by dawn on Wednesday.

0:01:170:01:20

By which stage, again, it is a very warm start the day.

0:01:200:01:23

18 degrees in Glasgow to start the day,

0:01:230:01:25

22 also for Manchester and London.

0:01:250:01:27

So as we go through the day on Wednesday,

0:01:270:01:29

we've already started to see those thunderstorms developing.

0:01:290:01:32

They start to become quite widespread across many

0:01:320:01:35

northern and western parts of the UK.

0:01:350:01:37

There could be some torrential downpours for some.

0:01:370:01:39

Certainly not for all, I think East Anglia and south-east,

0:01:390:01:42

will probably stay dry.

0:01:420:01:43

Notice the winds are coming in from the west.

0:01:430:01:45

We are going to see those temperatures dropping back

0:01:450:01:48

down to something nearer the norm.

0:01:480:01:49

But in East Anglia and the south-east, where it stays dry with

0:01:490:01:52

some sunshine, still some heat to be had, 28 or 29 degrees.

0:01:520:01:55

But that is not going to last

0:01:550:01:56

because Wednesday night into Thursday,

0:01:560:01:59

we see this cold front sweep its way across the

0:01:590:02:01

south and the east and this temporary ridge of high pressure

0:02:010:02:04

builds and we start to see the winds now coming in from the Atlantic.

0:02:040:02:07

By Thursday, not a complete washout by any means.

0:02:070:02:10

There is a lot of dry weather to be had, variable cloud.

0:02:100:02:13

Some sunshine, but some showers gathering out towards the west.

0:02:130:02:16

Temperatures back down to something nearer the norm

0:02:160:02:19

pretty much across the board. It's the upper teens or low 20s.

0:02:190:02:22

So a cooler, fresher feel by Thursday and that fresher weather

0:02:220:02:26

continues to come in from the Atlantic for the end of the week,

0:02:260:02:29

with the weather front.

0:02:290:02:30

So that is going to bring some rain to the north and west of the UK.

0:02:300:02:33

Ahead of that - sunny spells and a scattering of showers.

0:02:330:02:37

At this stage, the temperatures are upper teens or low to mid 20s.

0:02:370:02:41

Then onto into the weekend,

0:02:410:02:42

we keep the weather coming in from the Atlantic.

0:02:420:02:45

The first weather system moves away.

0:02:450:02:47

A ridge temporarily builds in for Saturday just ahead of the

0:02:470:02:50

next weather system which will bring some wind and rain later

0:02:500:02:53

into Northern Ireland,

0:02:530:02:54

but many other places enjoying a pretty reasonable day on Saturday.

0:02:540:02:57

Sunny spells and not particularly windy and temperatures

0:02:570:03:00

peaking at around about 23 or 24 degrees.

0:03:000:03:02

So a much more changeable look to things into the start of next

0:03:020:03:06

weekend and that continues into the second part of the weekend

0:03:060:03:09

and on into the early part of next week.

0:03:090:03:11

With westerly winds, we are likely to see low-pressure coming into

0:03:110:03:15

the north of UK.

0:03:150:03:16

The closer you are to that, the more likely you are to see some rain.

0:03:160:03:19

But overall, it looks fairly changeable.

0:03:190:03:21

There will be some spells of settled weather with some sunshine. It is still quite warm.

0:03:210:03:25

Some showers are forecast and temperatures, generally

0:03:250:03:27

speaking, a degree or so either side of the average. Bye for now.

0:03:270:03:30

Welcome to the Celebrity MasterChef semifinals.

0:03:310:03:35

You are preparing lunch for 70 people.

0:03:350:03:37

My hands are freezing, I can't feel my fingers.

0:03:370:03:39

Whose recipe are you following? My own, in my brain.

0:03:390:03:42

Oh, got it. They're on fire. That's a bit of a disaster. This is hot!

0:03:420:03:46

Amazing, in a kitchen of nine cooks, you could hear a pin drop.
