Hello there. The working week and done a fairly active note,

0:00:030:00:06

we had some heavy downpours,

0:00:060:00:07

some thunderstorms and funnel clouds around to end the day on Friday.

0:00:070:00:10

Now, over the next few days, things are looking quiet,

0:00:100:00:14

we've got high pressure sitting out in the Atlantic,

0:00:140:00:16

out towards the south-west of the UK, low pressure towards the

0:00:160:00:19

north-east, and that leaves us with a north-westerly influence

0:00:190:00:22

to our weather through the course of the weekend, and for the

0:00:220:00:24

first part of the coming week too.

0:00:240:00:27

So, for Saturday, lots dry weather with some long spells of sunshine,

0:00:270:00:30

but there will be scattered showers developing more

0:00:300:00:32

especially across the north-western half the country.

0:00:320:00:35

Whereas, further south and east fewer showers developing

0:00:350:00:37

during the day.

0:00:370:00:39

Still pretty warm in London, 24 degrees or so, but further north

0:00:390:00:42

temperatures typically in the high teens or the low 20s.

0:00:420:00:45

So, heading through Saturday night then,

0:00:450:00:47

most of those showers tending to ease away fairly quickly,

0:00:470:00:50

so under the clearing skies, and with that fresh north-westerly

0:00:500:00:52

breeze it will be quite chilly into the early hours of Sunday.

0:00:520:00:56

In fact, first thing Sunday,

0:00:560:00:58

temperatures quite widely into single figures in the countryside.

0:00:580:01:01

So a fresh start to the day on Sunday,

0:01:010:01:03

but things are shaping up fairly fine once again, so

0:01:030:01:06

a report performance to Saturday, plenty of sunny spells,

0:01:060:01:09

there will be a scattering of showers, again mainly across

0:01:090:01:11

parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland, perhaps northern England and Wales.

0:01:110:01:15

Fewer showers towards the south-east,

0:01:150:01:16

but you couldn't rule out an isolated shower, almost anywhere,

0:01:160:01:19

16 to 23 degrees, but certainly feeling fresher and less

0:01:190:01:22

humid in the south than it has done.

0:01:220:01:24

So, then as we head into the new working week,

0:01:240:01:26

we're going to start to see areas of low pressure trying

0:01:260:01:29

to move in from the Atlantic,

0:01:290:01:31

so through the day on Monday most parts of the country yet again

0:01:310:01:33

having a dry day with some sunshine and just one or two showers.

0:01:330:01:36

But you'll notice this area of rain and some brisk winds just

0:01:360:01:39

pushing into the south-west of England perhaps south Wales,

0:01:390:01:42

working gradually eastwards.

0:01:420:01:44

It's likely that some of that rain will linger across parts of

0:01:440:01:46

East Anglia and the south-east first thing Tuesday but it should

0:01:460:01:49

clear off towards the east,

0:01:490:01:51

some uncertainty on details of any of that rain on Tuesday.

0:01:510:01:54

But elsewhere, lots of dry weather

0:01:540:01:56

once again and temperatures around 18 to 22 degrees.

0:01:560:01:59

And looking on into the middle part of the week,

0:01:590:02:01

heading into Wednesday,

0:02:010:02:03

we're going to start to see low pressure moving in from

0:02:030:02:05

the Atlantic, so a more energised weather pattern, I think,

0:02:050:02:08

through the middle of the week and through Wednesday that's

0:02:080:02:10

probably going to be the wettest day of the week,

0:02:100:02:13

the potential for weather warnings to be issued due to the some

0:02:130:02:15

spells of heavy rain gradually working from west to east across

0:02:150:02:18

much of the country.

0:02:180:02:20

Temperatures around 17 to perhaps 23 degrees or so.

0:02:200:02:23

Any signs of a summer heatwave on the way?

0:02:230:02:26

Well, we have got some heat across Europe,

0:02:260:02:28

but it's generally to be found further the south, so across parts

0:02:280:02:31

of Iberia right through the central Mediterranean, towards Turkey too.

0:02:310:02:34

Temperatures here widely in the mid-30s.

0:02:340:02:37

Now, in order to import that heat we need the winds to come from

0:02:370:02:40

a southerly direction,

0:02:400:02:42

in fact if you cast your minds back around ten days or so,

0:02:420:02:45

we had heatwave conditions with the air coming from this very direction.

0:02:450:02:48

But actually what we are going to be seeing through the course of

0:02:480:02:51

next week is more of an Atlantic influence to our weather,

0:02:510:02:54

so in general the winds will be coming in from the west,

0:02:540:02:57

at times more southerly, at times a little bit more northerly,

0:02:570:02:59

but no signs of any very warm air coming our way,

0:02:590:03:03

certainly through the course of next week.

0:03:030:03:05

So it looks like, as we head through into the end of the week,

0:03:050:03:08

we will start to see areas of low pressure dominating things,

0:03:080:03:10

so that does mean things are looking rather unsettled, but

0:03:100:03:13

there will be some dry interludes with higher pressure in between.

0:03:130:03:16

So, it's going to be a story of sunshine and showers as we

0:03:160:03:19

look through the first part of August.

0:03:190:03:21

It looks like the driest of the weather will be across

0:03:210:03:23

southern parts of the country and temperatures, after the recent

0:03:230:03:26

heat and humidity, should be around average.

0:03:260:03:28

That's it for now, bye-bye.
