Hello again. Last week,

0:00:030:00:04

some areas of the UK had too much Atlantic rain,

0:00:040:00:06

other areas - nothing at all. A change of fortunes perhaps,

0:00:060:00:10

later this week.

0:00:100:00:11

The next few days, though, look like being dry

0:00:110:00:13

and it's going to be turning warmer as well,

0:00:130:00:16

mainly because there will be more sunshine on offer.

0:00:160:00:19

Then, from midweek onwards, things turn more unsettled,

0:00:190:00:21

some rain for some areas.

0:00:210:00:24

No sign of that rain just yet, though.

0:00:240:00:26

We've got high pressure building in across the UK.

0:00:260:00:29

That is keeping it fine and dry

0:00:290:00:31

and there won't be as much cloud around

0:00:310:00:34

by Monday morning as well,

0:00:340:00:35

so plenty of sunshine, a bit of patchy cloud here and there.

0:00:350:00:38

The cloud may build and spread out again

0:00:380:00:41

late morning into lunchtime,

0:00:410:00:43

but the cloud even thinner on Monday,

0:00:430:00:46

so it will break up,

0:00:460:00:47

sunshine develops more widely in the afternoon,

0:00:470:00:49

there will be more sunshine on offer

0:00:490:00:51

than there was on Sunday,

0:00:510:00:53

so it should be warmer just about across the board.

0:00:530:00:55

A very pleasant day in the sunshine

0:00:550:00:57

and warming up again very quickly on Tuesday,

0:00:570:01:00

dry and sunny weather for most parts of the country,

0:01:000:01:02

perhaps a little more cloud at times

0:01:020:01:04

down some eastern areas of England

0:01:040:01:06

and the onshore breeze too, but away from here,

0:01:060:01:09

we're going to find temperatures continuing to rise.

0:01:090:01:11

Highest temperatures mid, possibly high 20s

0:01:110:01:14

across Wales and the West Country.

0:01:140:01:17

The really hot air that looked like it might reach us at one stage

0:01:170:01:20

is really across Spain. It gets as far north as northern France,

0:01:200:01:25

but the wind flow is crucial around the high pressure,

0:01:250:01:28

our air perhaps coming more from Germany and the Low Countries.

0:01:280:01:32

Still very warm, mind you,

0:01:320:01:34

and we've still got high pressure around

0:01:340:01:36

as we head midweek, but it's a bit further east and coming into that,

0:01:360:01:39

we're going to find these weather fronts.

0:01:390:01:41

This is the first sign of any real rain.

0:01:410:01:43

It's going to be showery rain

0:01:430:01:45

across Northern Ireland, Wales,

0:01:450:01:47

the south-west by Wednesday.

0:01:470:01:48

There could be one or two thunderstorms as well.

0:01:480:01:50

Very humid air for Wales and the south-west,

0:01:500:01:52

temperatures not quite as high as they will be on Tuesday.

0:01:520:01:55

It is further east that will stay dry

0:01:550:01:58

and there will be some sunshine

0:01:580:02:00

and it's going to get pretty warm.

0:02:000:02:01

We are looking at the highest temperatures

0:02:010:02:03

probably through the Midlands towards the south-east,

0:02:030:02:06

but very warm in the Moray Firth,

0:02:060:02:07

much warmer here than it has been for quite some time.

0:02:070:02:10

Things get more uncertain as we head into Thursday,

0:02:100:02:12

partly because everything is slowing down.

0:02:120:02:14

We could see an area of low pressure developing

0:02:140:02:16

and bringing rain rather than heat

0:02:160:02:18

up from the near continent.

0:02:180:02:19

This rain actually overnight and into Thursday

0:02:190:02:22

for a while could be heavy and possibly thundery

0:02:220:02:24

across Wales and southern England.

0:02:240:02:26

A bit of rain for Northern Ireland, perhaps,

0:02:260:02:28

but further north and north-east, it remains dry,

0:02:280:02:31

but we've got an easterly breeze,

0:02:310:02:33

so it's not going to be quite as warm.

0:02:330:02:35

Then towards the end of the week,

0:02:350:02:37

we're looking at another area of low pressure,

0:02:370:02:39

uncertain exactly where it is going to be.

0:02:390:02:41

It threatens to bring some rain into the south-west.

0:02:410:02:43

We've still got that weather front around on Friday.

0:02:430:02:46

The rain, though, nowhere near as heavy as early Thursday.

0:02:460:02:49

It's sort of showery rain

0:02:490:02:50

that could be a little bit further north,

0:02:500:02:52

but, again, for north-eastern areas of the UK,

0:02:520:02:55

it remains fine and dry with some sunshine.

0:02:550:02:58

Heading into the weekend, then,

0:02:580:03:00

it all hinges on what happens

0:03:000:03:01

to this area of low pressure.

0:03:010:03:03

It looks like we are going to see some showery rain around,

0:03:030:03:06

at least to start the weekend,

0:03:060:03:07

could see this nose of high pressure building in,

0:03:070:03:10

but there is more low pressure

0:03:100:03:12

to cut that off coming in from the Atlantic,

0:03:120:03:14

so further ahead, after the weekend,

0:03:140:03:16

things turning more changeable, more unsettled.

0:03:160:03:19

Some rain at times. Everything coming in from the west,

0:03:190:03:21

so most of the rain will be in the western side of the UK.

0:03:210:03:24

Temperatures back down

0:03:240:03:25

to where they should be at this time of the year,

0:03:250:03:27

but pleasant in the sunshine.
