Well, thanks for joining me,

0:00:030:00:05

and it's mostly good news on the weather front today.

0:00:050:00:07

Lots of fine, settled, dry weather

0:00:070:00:08

across the south of the country - perhaps not enough rainfall,

0:00:080:00:11

because our gardens, really,

0:00:110:00:13

would like a little bit more rain.

0:00:130:00:15

The further north you go, the weather will be more changeable.

0:00:150:00:18

We'll have some spells of rain,

0:00:180:00:20

a breeze coming off the Atlantic, as well,

0:00:200:00:22

so, cooler, fresher,

0:00:220:00:23

across this part of the world where you'd expect it.

0:00:230:00:26

Now, this is what it looks like across the Atlantic right now -

0:00:260:00:28

you can see weather patterns swirling around here,

0:00:280:00:30

so, very busy - in fact,

0:00:300:00:32

one of these weather systems making its presence felt

0:00:320:00:34

across the north-west of the UK,

0:00:340:00:36

and we'll be seeing some of these weather fronts

0:00:360:00:38

crossing the country through the first part of this week,

0:00:380:00:40

but it's also very busy down in the tropics -

0:00:400:00:43

it's the middle of hurricane season,

0:00:430:00:44

we've had Hurricane Gaston swirling around

0:00:440:00:47

above the Atlantic here, not really bothering anybody,

0:00:470:00:50

but it will be finally making a move northwards,

0:00:500:00:53

and what happens is, when the remnants of these weather systems

0:00:530:00:56

get caught up in our normal air streams, here,

0:00:560:00:58

our normal weather patterns,

0:00:580:01:00

things tend to get a little bit more disrupted,

0:01:000:01:02

and forecasting the weather becomes just that little bit more tricky,

0:01:020:01:06

so that's something that we're going to be watching this week -

0:01:060:01:08

but in the short term,

0:01:080:01:10

it's looking great across most of the UK.

0:01:100:01:12

On Tuesday, again, very little in the way of rainfall,

0:01:120:01:15

turning quite hot, as well.

0:01:150:01:16

You can see one weather front here, approaching the UK,

0:01:160:01:19

but even in Northern Ireland and western parts of Scotland

0:01:190:01:22

I think it should be dry.

0:01:220:01:23

Some of these western coasts, here, at times,

0:01:230:01:25

will be a little but more cloudy, perhaps murky,

0:01:250:01:27

off the coasts of Wales and the south-west,

0:01:270:01:29

but, for most of us,

0:01:290:01:30

it's going to be a fine, if not hot, actually, day

0:01:300:01:33

across the south-east.

0:01:330:01:34

Here's Tuesday into Wednesday,

0:01:340:01:36

so one of these Atlantic weather fronts finally pushes through.

0:01:360:01:39

It's quite a narrow weather front,

0:01:390:01:40

so there's not going to be an awfully long spell of rain

0:01:400:01:43

with it - in fact, by the time it moves into the south-east,

0:01:430:01:46

it's just a bit of cloud and a few spots of rain -

0:01:460:01:49

and I think temperatures still just about nudging up

0:01:490:01:51

into the mid 20s across the south-east -

0:01:510:01:53

much fresher there with these Atlantic winds

0:01:530:01:56

in places like Belfast and Glasgow,

0:01:560:01:57

and that weather front will continue to make its journey

0:01:570:02:00

until it completely fizzles out across the south-east

0:02:000:02:02

and into the Continent,

0:02:020:02:03

and then we get this ridge of high pressure,

0:02:030:02:05

so it's usually between two weather fronts -

0:02:050:02:07

that's the technical term, "ridge" -

0:02:070:02:09

and then the next weather front comes through

0:02:090:02:12

during the course of Thursday, again bringing some rainfall

0:02:120:02:14

into north-western areas and, you guessed it,

0:02:140:02:16

the best of the weather

0:02:160:02:18

will be across eastern and south-eastern areas,

0:02:180:02:20

here, temperatures up to around about 20 degrees Celsius.

0:02:200:02:23

So, towards the end of the week,

0:02:230:02:25

it's looking fairly fresh across most of the UK,

0:02:250:02:27

low pressure here sending further weather fronts in our direction,

0:02:270:02:30

bit of a breeze,

0:02:300:02:32

so, I think, a good chance of catching some showers

0:02:320:02:34

almost anywhere on Friday -

0:02:340:02:36

but this is more or less how it's looking,

0:02:360:02:38

and then, from Friday onwards, certainly Saturday, Sunday,

0:02:380:02:41

that's when things become tricky.

0:02:410:02:43

Remember, I talked about that tropical weather system, there -

0:02:430:02:46

Hurricane Gaston - so, the thinking is

0:02:460:02:49

that it will be finally moving northwards,

0:02:490:02:51

as they usually do, dying a death -

0:02:510:02:53

but that's not the only one that we're watching,

0:02:530:02:56

there's a potential for more tropical troublemakers, there.

0:02:560:02:59

One across Florida,

0:02:590:03:01

and also just another one off the eastern sea.

0:03:010:03:03

All of these will be moving in our direction,

0:03:030:03:06

but particularly this one, Gaston, could disrupt our weather patterns -

0:03:060:03:09

but I think the bottom line is,

0:03:090:03:10

as the remnants of these weather systems move into our latitudes,

0:03:100:03:15

they tend to send warmer air in our direction,

0:03:150:03:17

so, actually, it could turn out to be quite warm -

0:03:170:03:19

but also unsettled.

0:03:190:03:20

I think the best of the weather

0:03:200:03:21

will probably remain across south-eastern areas.

0:03:210:03:23

So, for this week, our eyes will be on the horizon,

0:03:230:03:26

out there into the tropics, and the Atlantic.

0:03:260:03:28

We will keep you posted.
