Hello there. We may well be in meteorological autumn,

0:00:010:00:04

but we've got some pretty summery weather on the cards through

0:00:040:00:07

much of the week ahead.

0:00:070:00:08

Temperatures are set to rise, so things will warm up for many of us.

0:00:080:00:12

It's going to be quite a humid and a sticky start to the week,

0:00:120:00:15

but we'll see plenty of sunshine particularly towards the

0:00:150:00:18

south and east, a hint of a bit more rain in the north and the west.

0:00:180:00:22

But this is how we start things off on Tuesday.

0:00:220:00:25

High pressure sitting across continental Europe.

0:00:250:00:27

A weak front draped across northern parts of the country.

0:00:270:00:30

So a little light rain on that front across parts

0:00:300:00:33

of Northern Ireland and southern Scotland.

0:00:330:00:35

To the north of that,

0:00:350:00:36

slightly fresher with some sunshine for northern parts of Scotland.

0:00:360:00:39

But for the bulk of England and Wales,

0:00:390:00:41

it's quite humid and cloudy after a misty, murky start.

0:00:410:00:44

The cloud should thin and break and by the afternoon in any of

0:00:440:00:47

the sunny spells, temperatures will reach the mid-20s,

0:00:470:00:50

possibly 25 or even 26 degrees towards parts of the south-east.

0:00:500:00:53

That theme continues on into the middle of the week.

0:00:530:00:56

So we've got this area of high pressure dominating our weather

0:00:560:00:59

and that is going to be drawing in winds

0:00:590:01:01

coming in from a southerly direction.

0:01:010:01:03

So our air coming up from North Africa and from Spain too.

0:01:030:01:06

It will be drier air compared to what we're seeing over

0:01:060:01:08

the next day or so,

0:01:080:01:10

so that means through the middle of the week, by Wednesday,

0:01:100:01:13

less in the way of mist and fog and a bit more in the way of sunshine.

0:01:130:01:17

The cloud should break up a little bit more readily with the influence

0:01:170:01:21

of that drier air and slightly less humid conditions on the cards too.

0:01:210:01:24

So it's dry almost across the board on Wednesday and warm too.

0:01:240:01:28

Temperatures between around 20 to 26 or even 27 degrees.

0:01:280:01:31

Certainly a warm day to come on Wednesday,

0:01:310:01:34

that's the peak of the heat.

0:01:340:01:35

By the time we get to Thursday, things are feeling slightly fresher.

0:01:350:01:38

So the breeze picking up from the south or south-west and you can see

0:01:380:01:41

some rain moving into some northern and western parts of the country.

0:01:410:01:44

So potentially, some showery rain for parts of Scotland,

0:01:440:01:47

Northern Ireland too.

0:01:470:01:48

I think much of England and Wales probably staying dry

0:01:480:01:50

once again on Thursday.

0:01:500:01:52

And in any of the brighter spells, 23 degrees or so.

0:01:520:01:55

Friday - fresher still and there'll be

0:01:550:01:57

a bit of a breeze for some western areas with one or two showers here.

0:01:570:02:00

I think towards the east, most places staying dry,

0:02:000:02:02

less of a breeze, a bit more in the way of sunshine.

0:02:020:02:05

All in all, it's not looking like a bad day.

0:02:050:02:07

Not quite as warm as the middle part of the week, but still

0:02:070:02:09

those temperatures between 17 to 22 degrees.

0:02:090:02:13

Then as we look ahead towards the weekend,

0:02:130:02:15

what we are going to see is an area of low pressure trying to move in

0:02:150:02:18

from the Atlantic, some quite tight isobars.

0:02:180:02:20

A blustery spell of weather perhaps on Saturday, but this frontal

0:02:200:02:23

system will bump into that large area of high pressure across Europe.

0:02:230:02:26

So some uncertainty by the time we get to Saturday.

0:02:260:02:29

It looks like there'll be a band of rain crossing

0:02:290:02:31

from west towards the east.

0:02:310:02:33

But it may well fizzle out before it reaches southern and eastern areas.

0:02:330:02:37

Fresher air behind that frontal system, still relatively warm

0:02:370:02:40

in the south and east.

0:02:400:02:42

So during the weekend and beyond into next week,

0:02:420:02:44

it looks like low pressure will sit to the north-west drawing in

0:02:440:02:47

a cooler influence towards parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.

0:02:470:02:50

High pressure across the continent still drawing in that feed of

0:02:500:02:54

fairly warm and dry air towards many southern and eastern areas.

0:02:540:02:58

So through the weekend and into the following week,

0:02:580:03:00

we'll have a bit of a north-west, south-east split to the weather.

0:03:000:03:03

Southern and eastern areas having the best of the dry weather

0:03:030:03:06

with some warm sunshine,

0:03:060:03:07

whereas for the north-west, the chances at times that

0:03:070:03:10

we could see a bit more in the way

0:03:100:03:12

of rain and blustery, breezy conditions.

0:03:120:03:14

So to summarise, your outlook over the next ten days so,

0:03:140:03:16

it will be warming up certainly for a time.

0:03:160:03:19

There will be a little bit of rain mainly towards the north

0:03:190:03:21

and the west with the best of the dry weather and plenty

0:03:210:03:24

of sunshine in the south and east.

0:03:240:03:26

Nick Miller will update you on the latest tomorrow. Bye-bye.
