Hello. If you caught the last instalment of this forecast, | 0:00:02 | 0:00:05
you'll know I was talking about | 0:00:05 | 0:00:06
how tropical air from former tropical cyclones | 0:00:06 | 0:00:08
pushing north across North America | 0:00:08 | 0:00:10
is partially responsible | 0:00:10 | 0:00:11
for strengthening the jet stream | 0:00:11 | 0:00:13
coming out of North America, | 0:00:13 | 0:00:14
across the Atlantic towards us, | 0:00:14 | 0:00:16
and carried on that stronger jet stream, | 0:00:16 | 0:00:18
deeper areas of low pressure. | 0:00:18 | 0:00:20
And that means when they get to us, | 0:00:20 | 0:00:21
some heavier rains and stronger winds as a result | 0:00:21 | 0:00:24
and we can follow the first of those deeper areas | 0:00:24 | 0:00:27
of low pressure coming out of North America, | 0:00:27 | 0:00:29
riding the jet stream, | 0:00:29 | 0:00:30
and heading towards us over the next few days. | 0:00:30 | 0:00:32
In fact, by the end of Friday, | 0:00:32 | 0:00:34
it'll be getting here | 0:00:34 | 0:00:35
and I'll show what it's going to do in a moment. | 0:00:35 | 0:00:37
Before that gets in, | 0:00:37 | 0:00:38
we have a weaker weather system | 0:00:38 | 0:00:40
crossing the UK during Thursday | 0:00:40 | 0:00:41
but it is still significant | 0:00:41 | 0:00:43
because if you don't like the humidity, | 0:00:43 | 0:00:45
this weather front is introducing cooler | 0:00:45 | 0:00:48
and fresher air across the UK, | 0:00:48 | 0:00:49
initially with a bit of rain on Thursday, | 0:00:49 | 0:00:52
a few showers follow, | 0:00:52 | 0:00:53
actually good sunny spells though | 0:00:53 | 0:00:54
for many during the afternoon. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:56
A windier day, a cooler, fresher day | 0:00:56 | 0:00:58
but still quite pleasant if you get some sunshine. | 0:00:58 | 0:01:00
Cooler on Thursday night, | 0:01:00 | 0:01:02
easier for sleeping. | 0:01:02 | 0:01:03
One or two showers around on Friday | 0:01:03 | 0:01:05
but then remember that deeper area | 0:01:05 | 0:01:08
of low pressure - | 0:01:08 | 0:01:09
here's its rain and stronger winds | 0:01:09 | 0:01:11
coming in towards Northern Ireland | 0:01:11 | 0:01:13
and Western Scotland by the end of Friday. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:15
We're all going to see | 0:01:15 | 0:01:16
a spell of heavy rain out of this. | 0:01:16 | 0:01:18
Here's that area of low pressure going into Saturday. | 0:01:18 | 0:01:21
These weather fronts then sweeping south-eastwards | 0:01:21 | 0:01:23
and, again, with those brisk winds as well. | 0:01:23 | 0:01:26
Well, those weather fronts | 0:01:26 | 0:01:27
are still around for England and Wales | 0:01:27 | 0:01:28
as Saturday begins so a spell | 0:01:28 | 0:01:30
of heavy rain pushing south-east, | 0:01:30 | 0:01:32
brighter skies following on behind, | 0:01:32 | 0:01:34
a few showers to Northern Ireland | 0:01:34 | 0:01:36
and Western Scotland. | 0:01:36 | 0:01:37
Now, that may be out of the way | 0:01:37 | 0:01:39
by the end of Saturday. | 0:01:39 | 0:01:40
We get a brief ridge of high pressure | 0:01:40 | 0:01:42
but there is another deeper area of low pressure | 0:01:42 | 0:01:45
riding the jet stream and coming towards us | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47
by the end of Sunday. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:49
This one includes a bit of energy | 0:01:49 | 0:01:51
from former hurricane Hermine | 0:01:51 | 0:01:53
so what does that mean? | 0:01:53 | 0:01:54
It means when the rain comes, it'll be heavier. | 0:01:54 | 0:01:56
As a result, the winds may be a bit stronger too. | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
And that weather system is still around | 0:01:59 | 0:02:02
towards the north-west of the UK, we think, | 0:02:02 | 0:02:04
going through Sunday night and into Monday. | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
Concerned a little bit about | 0:02:06 | 0:02:07
how much rain towards the north-west of the UK, | 0:02:07 | 0:02:10
maybe parts of Northern Ireland into Western Scotland, | 0:02:10 | 0:02:12
we're going to see, | 0:02:12 | 0:02:13
so we're going to keep you updated on that. | 0:02:13 | 0:02:15
Ahead of that, warmer and more humid once more. | 0:02:15 | 0:02:18
Beyond Monday, it looks like | 0:02:18 | 0:02:20
there's a couple of ideas about what | 0:02:20 | 0:02:22
might happen, it is still far from certain. | 0:02:22 | 0:02:25
Now, it may well be that | 0:02:25 | 0:02:27
during Monday into Tuesday, | 0:02:27 | 0:02:29
this system finally pulls away south-eastwards, | 0:02:29 | 0:02:32
we're back into an Atlantic changeable flow - | 0:02:32 | 0:02:34
bit of a gap, another weather system, | 0:02:34 | 0:02:37
then a gap, then another weather system | 0:02:37 | 0:02:39
as we maintain a general north-west, south-east split | 0:02:39 | 0:02:41
as the week goes on. | 0:02:41 | 0:02:43
Lower pressure towards the north-west. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:44
If you're closer to this, | 0:02:44 | 0:02:46
more likely you'll see a bit of wind and rain. | 0:02:46 | 0:02:48
Higher pressure towards the south, | 0:02:48 | 0:02:49
not much in the way of rain, | 0:02:49 | 0:02:51
it's drier and warmer as a result. | 0:02:51 | 0:02:53
But there is another possibility | 0:02:53 | 0:02:55
for a time midweek | 0:02:55 | 0:02:56
and that's that we just draw up some warmer, | 0:02:56 | 0:02:59
more humid air northwards across the UK | 0:02:59 | 0:03:01
for maybe a couple of days, | 0:03:01 | 0:03:03
maybe the chance of a few thundery showers. | 0:03:03 | 0:03:06
Even if this happens, | 0:03:06 | 0:03:07
and we think it's just brief, | 0:03:07 | 0:03:10
and then we get back | 0:03:10 | 0:03:11
to the idea of a north-west, south-east split | 0:03:11 | 0:03:13
later in the week as it turns changeable. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:15
Again, the closer you are | 0:03:15 | 0:03:16
towards the south and south-east of the UK, | 0:03:16 | 0:03:18
the closer you are to high pressure, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:20
it is relatively settled compared | 0:03:20 | 0:03:21
with north-western parts of the UK | 0:03:21 | 0:03:23
where you're closer to low pressure, | 0:03:23 | 0:03:25
you'll see a bit of wind and rain at times. | 0:03:25 | 0:03:27
Still, a lot to play for in the detail next week. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:29
We'll keep you updated. | 0:03:29 | 0:03:30
The case against you is too strong. | 0:03:31 | 0:03:33
It's not a question of whether you'll be found guilty, but when. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:36
I am a gentleman. | 0:03:37 | 0:03:38 |
