Hello there. Very little rain to speak of in the week ahead.

1:31:321:31:35

A lot of dry weather to be had

1:31:351:31:36

and good opportunities for getting out and about.

1:31:361:31:39

We'll get on to that, but we're going to start off in the Caribbean,

1:31:391:31:42

because we have a very powerful hurricane, Hurricane Matthew,

1:31:421:31:45

a category 4, heading north towards Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba and eventually

1:31:451:31:49

the Bahamas.

1:31:491:31:50

Really destructive weather in this part of the world, the one to watch.

1:31:501:31:54

On our shores, things are much quieter.

1:31:541:31:56

We've got a large area of high pressure across Scandinavia

1:31:561:31:58

extending down across the United Kingdom.

1:31:581:32:01

That will dominate our weather, and it will help to

1:32:011:32:03

keep those Atlantic weather fronts out in the Atlantic.

1:32:031:32:06

It may well be a cold start to Monday,

1:32:061:32:08

a touch of frost for some and some patchy fog, too.

1:32:081:32:10

The fog should lift my mid to late morning,

1:32:101:32:13

and then it's going to be a beautiful afternoon across most

1:32:131:32:15

places with some lengthy spells of sunshine

1:32:151:32:17

and temperatures round about 16 degrees for Glasgow

1:32:171:32:19

and Belfast, 17, 18, maybe 19 degrees for Cardiff and London,

1:32:191:32:23

a little bit warmer than we saw on Sunday.

1:32:231:32:25

Through Monday night and on into Tuesday, it stays pretty quiet.

1:32:251:32:29

These weather fronts are trying to push into the north and west

1:32:291:32:31

but don't make much progress.

1:32:311:32:33

We might see a spot of rain in the Western Isles.

1:32:331:32:36

Not quite so cold to start the day on Tuesday, with more of a breeze,

1:32:361:32:38

major towns and cities just about into double figures.

1:32:381:32:41

Rural spots will slip into single figures, but not too low.

1:32:411:32:44

It should be frost-free first thing on Tuesday,

1:32:441:32:46

but it will be a decent day for most places once again.

1:32:461:32:49

We've still got the high across Scandinavia influencing

1:32:491:32:51

the weather across the UK. A fair number of isobars.

1:32:511:32:53

It will be a breezy day but a bright and breezy day with good

1:32:531:32:56

spells of sunshine throughout the day.

1:32:561:32:58

And that weather front still might just bring the odd spot of rain to

1:32:581:33:02

the far north-west, but I think most places will have another dry day.

1:33:021:33:05

And again, it's 16 degrees for Glasgow, Belfast, 17, 18,

1:33:051:33:09

maybe 19 degrees in the London area.

1:33:091:33:12

And then, as we get on to the middle of the week,

1:33:121:33:14

a subtle change in the orientation of the high over Scandinavia

1:33:141:33:17

brings more of an easterly breeze down from the Baltic Sea,

1:33:171:33:19

across the North Sea towards our shores

1:33:191:33:22

and turns south-easterly and helps to push that weather front away

1:33:221:33:25

towards the north and west.

1:33:251:33:27

It may well drag in some lower cloud for the east coast on

1:33:271:33:29

Wednesday and maybe the odd spot of rain to go with that,

1:33:291:33:32

and temperatures just easing back by a few degrees.

1:33:321:33:34

And still quite breezy on into Thursday but still we've got

1:33:341:33:38

that high pressure influencing our weather.

1:33:381:33:40

Still quite breezy, still a number of isobars there on the chart.

1:33:401:33:43

And again, that breeze coming in from the North Sea could drag in

1:33:431:33:46

some low cloud and the odd spot of light rain and drizzle.

1:33:461:33:48

Away from that, it's fine and dry, broken cloud,

1:33:481:33:50

and we'll see some good spells of sunshine.

1:33:501:33:52

And again, top temperatures round about the middle to maybe the

1:33:521:33:55

high teens for a few spots.

1:33:551:33:57

And then, towards the end of the week, we've still got that

1:33:571:33:59

easterly breeze, weather fronts

1:33:591:34:01

trying to come in from the Atlantic but not really making much progress.

1:34:011:34:04

The breeze once again from the North Sea could bring

1:34:041:34:07

a little bit of extra low cloud and maybe

1:34:071:34:09

a little bit of rainfall, but away from the east coast,

1:34:091:34:11

it's dry and it's bright,

1:34:111:34:12

and temperatures will be around about 15 or 16 degrees once again.

1:34:121:34:15

And even into next weekend,

1:34:151:34:17

the overall pattern doesn't change all that much.

1:34:171:34:20

We've still got that high across Scandinavia really dominating

1:34:201:34:23

things, bringing that east or south-easterly breeze and

1:34:231:34:26

keeping things fine and dry.

1:34:261:34:27

It is a blocking high across Scandinavia,

1:34:271:34:29

and if you take a look at the jet stream,

1:34:291:34:31

you can see it's just snaking its way around out in the Atlantic.

1:34:311:34:34

Not a strong and powerful westerly,

1:34:341:34:36

which would help to shift that blocking high, but there are signs

1:34:361:34:40

as we look towards about nine or ten days from now that we may

1:34:401:34:43

well begin to see slow changes,

1:34:431:34:44

a slow change to more of a westerly wind,

1:34:441:34:47

which will bring some more unsettled weather from the Atlantic.

1:34:471:34:50

We'll see some spells of wind and rain developing as we look towards

1:34:501:34:54

the middle of October.

1:34:541:34:55

That's not unusual for this time of the year. Bye for now.
