Hello. We had some glorious spring sunshine around on Thursday,

0:00:020:00:04

temperatures as high as 17.5 degrees in London.

0:00:040:00:07

Things aren't changing in a hurry, at least over the next 24 hours,

0:00:070:00:11

because we've still got a big area of high pressure in charge

0:00:110:00:13

sitting out towards the south-east.

0:00:130:00:15

Low pressure in the North Atlantic trying to move in,

0:00:150:00:18

so we will see weather fronts starting to influence

0:00:180:00:20

parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland,

0:00:200:00:22

bringing an increasing breeze,

0:00:220:00:24

some cloud, and later on, some outbreaks of rain, too.

0:00:240:00:27

But many eastern areas will keep with the sunny conditions

0:00:270:00:29

through much of the day.

0:00:290:00:31

The cloud in the west on Friday moves its way slowly eastwards

0:00:310:00:34

and there'll be a bit of drizzly rain

0:00:340:00:35

across parts of north-west England, Western Scotland,

0:00:350:00:38

perhaps Northern Ireland, particularly around the coasts,

0:00:380:00:40

and over the hills too.

0:00:400:00:42

Elsewhere, that cloud should break up a little bit through the day.

0:00:420:00:44

Temperatures certainly not as warm as Thursday - 7 to 13 degrees.

0:00:440:00:48

Through Friday night and on into Saturday

0:00:480:00:50

we'll see this cold font moving in from the north-west,

0:00:500:00:53

so some rain around Northern Ireland and for Scotland overnight.

0:00:530:00:56

England and Wales staying largely dry.

0:00:560:00:58

Quite a lot of low cloud, mist and murk,

0:00:580:01:00

and certainly mild first thing Saturday morning.

0:01:000:01:03

So what about the weekend? Well, for Saturday, actually,

0:01:030:01:06

not a bad day at all. Most places are looking largely dry,

0:01:060:01:09

and there will be a bit of sunshine breaking through for many of us.

0:01:090:01:12

Sunday, bit of a change - we'll start to see rain clearing eastwards

0:01:120:01:15

and things will feel a little bit cooler too.

0:01:150:01:18

So to put some detail on that, this is Saturday.

0:01:180:01:20

We've got a slow-moving front bringing a bit of rain

0:01:200:01:23

to parts of northern England, into Wales too.

0:01:230:01:25

To the south and east of that, mostly cloudy,

0:01:250:01:27

but there will be some sunshine later on.

0:01:270:01:29

15, possibly 17 degrees. Scotland and Northern Ireland

0:01:290:01:33

also seeing quite a good deal of dry, bright weather on Saturday.

0:01:330:01:36

Heading into Sunday, then, this front...

0:01:360:01:38

This frontal system approaches from the Atlantic,

0:01:380:01:41

and eventually that's going to introduce some cooler air

0:01:410:01:43

heading in from the west too. So through the day on Sunday,

0:01:430:01:46

we're likely to see some outbreaks of rain,

0:01:460:01:48

gradually clearing eastwards through the day.

0:01:480:01:51

A return to sunshine and a few blustery showers.

0:01:510:01:53

Not a write-off, there will be some dry weather around,

0:01:530:01:56

but it will feel cooler, with temperatures around 9 to 13 degrees.

0:01:560:02:00

On to Monday - once that front clears away toward the east,

0:02:000:02:03

could stay cloudy across East Anglia and the south-east for a time,

0:02:030:02:06

but a ridge of high pressure in charge,

0:02:060:02:08

so most places looking dry,

0:02:080:02:10

and there'll be some decent spells of sunshine.

0:02:100:02:11

With light winds, it'll feel pleasant,

0:02:110:02:13

with most of us seeing temperatures of around 11 to 13 degrees.

0:02:130:02:16

So that situation doesn't change too much.

0:02:160:02:19

On to the middle part of the week.

0:02:190:02:20

High pressure never really far away -

0:02:200:02:22

again, we will see these low pressure systems

0:02:220:02:25

trying to move in from the Atlantic

0:02:250:02:27

but bumping into that area of high pressure.

0:02:270:02:29

So that is the main theme, really,

0:02:290:02:31

as we head through much of the week ahead. To start next week,

0:02:310:02:34

we've got high pressure in charge, and that's really

0:02:340:02:37

closing this barrier to the Atlantic low-pressure systems,

0:02:370:02:40

bringing their cloud and rain towards maybe northern

0:02:400:02:42

and western parts of the UK.

0:02:420:02:44

Through the middle of the week, the barrier dips down towards the south

0:02:440:02:47

as high pressure clears towards the south. That will allow

0:02:470:02:50

low pressure to move across more northerly parts of the UK,

0:02:500:02:53

but later in the week, the high pressure builds in again,

0:02:530:02:56

closing that barrier and keeping most of the low-pressure systems,

0:02:560:02:59

with their cloud and rain, again out in the Atlantic.

0:02:590:03:02

Some uncertainty - we could see

0:03:020:03:04

wet weather systems moving across

0:03:040:03:05

northern and north-western parts of the country.

0:03:050:03:08

But generally as we head towards the end of next week,

0:03:080:03:11

with that high pressure building again,

0:03:110:03:13

things will become drier, there'll be some sunshine on offer,

0:03:130:03:16

but things could be windy, and at times also quite wet and unsettled

0:03:160:03:20

across north-western parts of the UK.

0:03:200:03:22

Best of the dry and bright weather towards the south and east.

0:03:220:03:25

That's it for now - I'll update you again tomorrow.
