Hello. It's that time of year

0:00:020:00:03

when the days are getting noticeably longer.

0:00:030:00:05

The sunshine is getting stronger too.

0:00:050:00:06

In fact, the sunshine at this stage in the middle of March

0:00:060:00:09

is as strong as it is in September

0:00:090:00:11

and where we have seen the sunshine, for instance on Thursday,

0:00:110:00:13

we saw temperatures in fact 17.5 degrees around the London region,

0:00:130:00:18

but where we get more in the way of cloud,

0:00:180:00:21

temperatures stuck back at about 13 degrees.

0:00:210:00:23

That was the top temperature in London on Friday.

0:00:230:00:25

That variation in temperatures is going to continue through

0:00:250:00:28

much of the week ahead, so where we see the sunshine

0:00:280:00:30

could well be up to the high teens at times.

0:00:300:00:32

Where the cloud sticks around,

0:00:320:00:34

typically around four or five degrees cooler.

0:00:340:00:36

During Saturday, high pressure not far away.

0:00:360:00:38

We have got a front draped across

0:00:380:00:39

some northern parts of the country,

0:00:390:00:41

so it's not going to be dry for all of us.

0:00:410:00:43

It's a fairly weak cold front here.

0:00:430:00:45

It will bring some outbreaks of rain and cloudy conditions

0:00:450:00:48

across parts of Scotland,

0:00:480:00:49

then pushing further south into the Borders.

0:00:490:00:51

Across northern England, a few splashes of rain,

0:00:510:00:53

but across much of England and Wales,

0:00:530:00:55

a dry day to come on Saturday,

0:00:550:00:57

plenty of sunshine in the south

0:00:570:00:58

and it's here we'll see the highest temperatures,

0:00:580:01:00

16, possibly 17 or 18 degrees,

0:01:000:01:03

and also some dry, bright weather

0:01:030:01:04

returning to Northern Ireland

0:01:040:01:06

and Scotland, where we could see temperatures 12 or 13 Celsius.

0:01:060:01:09

Moving through Saturday evening and on into Sunday, though,

0:01:090:01:12

this weather front starts to pep up a bit,

0:01:120:01:14

so that rain becomes heavier, we'll see another front moving in

0:01:140:01:17

from the west too, so one way or another,

0:01:170:01:19

many of us are going to start Sunday with cloud,

0:01:190:01:21

outbreaks of rain and it will be pretty mild

0:01:210:01:23

under that blanket of cloud.

0:01:230:01:26

Through the day on Sunday, a different feel compared to Saturday.

0:01:260:01:29

That wet weather clearing eastwards through the day,

0:01:290:01:31

but it will linger for East Anglia and the south-east.

0:01:310:01:34

A fresher feel, 10-12 degrees and a return to some sunnier,

0:01:340:01:37

brighter conditions from the west later on.

0:01:370:01:39

That's how Sunday is shaping up. What about the new working week?

0:01:390:01:42

Well, high pressure sits out to the south-west of the UK.

0:01:420:01:45

That's going to build in and dominate our weather

0:01:450:01:47

really through much of the week ahead,

0:01:470:01:49

so Monday looks like a dry day pretty much across the board.

0:01:490:01:52

Variable amounts of cloud and again where we do see the sunshine,

0:01:520:01:55

that's where we'll see temperatures to the mid-teens,

0:01:550:01:57

14, could see 15 or 16 degrees.

0:01:570:01:59

Slightly cooler around the spots where that cloud lingers,

0:01:590:02:03

but most places looking dry with light winds.

0:02:030:02:05

By Tuesday, a bit of rain and a fairly brisk wind at times

0:02:050:02:08

across Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland too.

0:02:080:02:11

Elsewhere will avoid the rain,

0:02:110:02:12

so another predominantly dry day and again those temperatures

0:02:120:02:15

generally up to the mid-teens, so a fairly mild theme to the weather.

0:02:150:02:18

That's how the middle of the week is shaping up.

0:02:180:02:20

We've got high pressure not far away.

0:02:200:02:22

We will see areas of low pressure in the North Atlantic situated

0:02:220:02:25

round about the Iceland region, trying to exert their influence

0:02:250:02:29

on the UK, so early part of next week this is now.

0:02:290:02:32

We've got that high sitting out to the south-west

0:02:320:02:34

and we're going to be drawing in these south-westerly winds,

0:02:340:02:37

so that's quite a milder direction

0:02:370:02:39

and temperatures will be doing reasonably well.

0:02:390:02:41

Later on next week,

0:02:410:02:42

we'll start to see the influence of low pressure

0:02:420:02:44

sitting out round about Iceland,

0:02:440:02:46

but it will draw in a more westerly air flow,

0:02:460:02:49

so that means temperatures through the latter part of the working week

0:02:490:02:52

I think tending to dip down again,

0:02:520:02:53

but then once again into next weekend,

0:02:530:02:55

it looks like the high re-establishes itself

0:02:550:02:57

and again we'll see a return to these more south-westerly winds.

0:02:570:03:00

Temperatures should be on the rise

0:03:000:03:02

as we head through the latter part of next week into next weekend.

0:03:020:03:06

A bit of a change on the cards, but as we move through to next weekend,

0:03:060:03:09

generally, the mild theme to the weather will continue

0:03:090:03:12

and it'll be predominantly dry with high pressure the main influence.

0:03:120:03:15

There'll be some sunshine around,

0:03:150:03:17

but there could be some slightly windier and wetter conditions

0:03:170:03:20

on the cards at times, particularly towards the north-west,

0:03:200:03:23

with the driest and brightest weather generally in the south-east.

0:03:230:03:25

That's it, we'll update you again tomorrow.
