Hello. Thanks for tuning in. As promised, a beautiful weekend, | 0:00:02 | 0:00:04
clear blue skies across most of the UK. | 0:00:04 | 0:00:06
Most of us managed to get at least one sunny day, | 0:00:06 | 0:00:09
and temperatures, as predicted, hit the mid-20s | 0:00:09 | 0:00:12
in London and the South-east. | 0:00:12 | 0:00:13
Not like it everywhere, | 0:00:13 | 0:00:15
but warm enough in most places. | 0:00:15 | 0:00:17
On Monday, it'll be a lot cooler. | 0:00:17 | 0:00:19
For some of us, a 10-degree drop on the way. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:22
This is the satellite image from earlier on. | 0:00:22 | 0:00:24
You can see how clear | 0:00:24 | 0:00:25
the weather was across England, most of Wales, | 0:00:25 | 0:00:28
but already some cloud encroaching into | 0:00:28 | 0:00:30
Southwestern England and Wales, | 0:00:30 | 0:00:31
and here in the Northwest, | 0:00:31 | 0:00:33
we have a weather front, a cold front, | 0:00:33 | 0:00:35
and that will be moving across the country | 0:00:35 | 0:00:37
during the course of Monday night. | 0:00:37 | 0:00:38
Behind it, that much fresher air | 0:00:38 | 0:00:40
coming in all the way from the Northwest, | 0:00:40 | 0:00:42
so fresher conditions setting in all through the night | 0:00:42 | 0:00:45
and reaching Southern areas as well, where so far, | 0:00:45 | 0:00:48
we've had warm air coming in from | 0:00:48 | 0:00:49
the South instead. | 0:00:49 | 0:00:51
So early on Monday morning, | 0:00:51 | 0:00:52
around five or six degrees | 0:00:52 | 0:00:54
in the middle of town in the North. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:55
Still around 7-9 across the South. | 0:00:55 | 0:00:57
And the week ahead: It's going to be a lot cooler for sure, | 0:00:57 | 0:01:00
but there will be some sunny spells, and most days will actually be dry. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:04
Only from time to time will we get a few showers, | 0:01:04 | 0:01:06
and mostly across Northern areas of the UK. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:09
So the weather map for Monday: | 0:01:09 | 0:01:11
This is the cold front bringing the fresher conditions, | 0:01:11 | 0:01:14
so behind it, the air's tucking in. | 0:01:14 | 0:01:15
It's chilly, it's coming in from the North. | 0:01:15 | 0:01:18
High-pressure sort of starts to nose in | 0:01:18 | 0:01:20
so actually, there will be | 0:01:20 | 0:01:21
a lot of dry weather around. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:22
The few showers that we will get | 0:01:22 | 0:01:24
will be across North-western parts | 0:01:24 | 0:01:25
of Scotland, perhaps running through Northern Ireland, | 0:01:25 | 0:01:28
the odd one moving through | 0:01:28 | 0:01:29
the Lake District and Yorkshire, | 0:01:29 | 0:01:31
perhaps into Lincolnshire as well. | 0:01:31 | 0:01:33
But for the most part, it is going to be a dry day, | 0:01:33 | 0:01:35
and temperatures a lot, lot fresher. | 0:01:35 | 0:01:37
So in London, no longer 25, not 25, | 0:01:37 | 0:01:40
15 degrees Celsius, that is. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:42
10 degrees in Glasgow. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:45
And then Monday night into Tuesday, | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47
high pressure nudges in back across the UK, | 0:01:47 | 0:01:49
so the Southern half of the country | 0:01:49 | 0:01:51
will actually have dry weather, | 0:01:51 | 0:01:53
whereas in the North, we have | 0:01:53 | 0:01:54
weather fronts coming in. | 0:01:54 | 0:01:55
So across Western parts of Scotland, | 0:01:55 | 0:01:57
the Northern Isles, increasing winds | 0:01:57 | 0:01:59
and some spots of rain. The rest of the country, | 0:01:59 | 0:02:02
variable amounts of cloud, a pretty fresh day, | 0:02:02 | 0:02:04
with temperatures typically around | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
about 11 to 13 degrees, | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
perhaps a little bit warmer there in London. | 0:02:09 | 0:02:11
And really not an awful lot of change | 0:02:11 | 0:02:13
as we head into Thursday as well. | 0:02:13 | 0:02:15
North-west winds and some clouds | 0:02:15 | 0:02:17
with also showers | 0:02:17 | 0:02:19
across North-western parts of Scotland. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
Let's have a look at the Easter period now. | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
So with Good Friday, starting with Good Friday, | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
you can see North-westerly winds | 0:02:25 | 0:02:27
again. A lot of dry weather around. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:30
Best of the weather probably across | 0:02:30 | 0:02:31
the Southern and Eastern areas of the UK. | 0:02:31 | 0:02:35
Now, into the Easter weekend itself, | 0:02:35 | 0:02:37
so certainly nothing like what we've just had. | 0:02:37 | 0:02:40
Nowhere near as warm. The jet stream is coming | 0:02:40 | 0:02:42
out of the North-west. | 0:02:42 | 0:02:43
That's where our air is going to be coming from. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:45
That's where the weather is going to be coming from. | 0:02:45 | 0:02:48
High pressure is not quite close enough to the UK, | 0:02:48 | 0:02:50
but close enough so it looks as though | 0:02:50 | 0:02:52
maybe these Western and Southwestern areas will have drier weather, | 0:02:52 | 0:02:56
but cooler air coming in from the North. | 0:02:56 | 0:02:58
In fact, that air could be cold enough | 0:02:58 | 0:03:00
to even bring a few wintry showers | 0:03:00 | 0:03:03
to the tops of the mountains across Scotland. | 0:03:03 | 0:03:06
And then beyond Easter, just a flavour. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:08
That cool air stream comes in from the North | 0:03:08 | 0:03:10
so that's a little bit of a change to the forecast, | 0:03:10 | 0:03:13
if you were watching yesterday. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:14
But in the short term, let's have a look at the summary | 0:03:14 | 0:03:17
for Easter itself. | 0:03:17 | 0:03:18
Cool North-west winds, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:20
there'll be some sunshine and showers, | 0:03:20 | 0:03:22
particularly across Northern areas of the UK, | 0:03:22 | 0:03:24
and the nights will be a little on the chilly side. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:27
That's it from me. Thanks for watching. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:29 |
