It's been a very dry week so far, | 0:00:02 | 0:00:03
lots of beautiful weather around on Wednesday, | 0:00:03 | 0:00:06
but our gardens are desperate for rain. | 0:00:06 | 0:00:08
There is some rain on the way but not everybody is going to get it. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:12
One thing we are going to notice, | 0:00:12 | 0:00:14
certainly across the southern half of the UK, | 0:00:14 | 0:00:16
is the humidity. It will be rising | 0:00:16 | 0:00:19
as warm air pushes in from the south, | 0:00:19 | 0:00:22
along with pent-up energy in the atmosphere | 0:00:22 | 0:00:25
and the risk of thunderstorms. | 0:00:25 | 0:00:26
But the short term is looking dry and clear | 0:00:26 | 0:00:30
across most of the UK. | 0:00:30 | 0:00:31
By Thursday morning, | 0:00:31 | 0:00:33
there might be showers creeping into southern | 0:00:33 | 0:00:35
or south-western parts of the UK, | 0:00:35 | 0:00:37
maybe a few spots of rain in Orkney. | 0:00:37 | 0:00:39
Not desperately cold during Wednesday night. | 0:00:39 | 0:00:43
Here's a look at the morning picture. | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
Already showers and increasing cloud | 0:00:46 | 0:00:48
across southern portions of the UK, | 0:00:48 | 0:00:51
but for North Wales, the Midlands | 0:00:51 | 0:00:53
and northwards of that, | 0:00:53 | 0:00:54
the weather is looking beautiful, | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
so more sunshine on the way, | 0:00:57 | 0:00:58
pleasant temperatures, | 0:00:58 | 0:01:00
light winds, 9 or 10 degrees, | 0:01:00 | 0:01:02
so a beautiful start to the day | 0:01:02 | 0:01:04
across the majority of the country. | 0:01:04 | 0:01:07
Then into the afternoon, | 0:01:07 | 0:01:09
the clouds and humidity keep rising - | 0:01:09 | 0:01:10
that's when the fun and games begin. | 0:01:10 | 0:01:13
This is when we could see some thunderstorms. | 0:01:13 | 0:01:16
They will be very hit and miss, | 0:01:16 | 0:01:18
there won't be too many of them, | 0:01:18 | 0:01:20
and those who do catch the storms | 0:01:20 | 0:01:22
could experience some pretty brief big downpours, | 0:01:22 | 0:01:25
but many will have a bright day | 0:01:25 | 0:01:26
with hazy sunshine and it'll feel warm | 0:01:26 | 0:01:29
and humid. There might be more substantial rain | 0:01:29 | 0:01:32
on Thursday night, and this trend | 0:01:32 | 0:01:35
will continue into Friday, | 0:01:35 | 0:01:37
and these south-westerly winds | 0:01:37 | 0:01:39
will keep on scooping up the moisture, | 0:01:39 | 0:01:41
and the risk of thunderstorms | 0:01:41 | 0:01:43
pushing all of that weather in our direction. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:46
So, once again, on Friday, | 0:01:46 | 0:01:47
a potential for storms | 0:01:47 | 0:01:49
across central and southern parts | 0:01:49 | 0:01:51
during the afternoon. Maybe even the morning. | 0:01:51 | 0:01:54
Again, it'll feel humid and quite warm, | 0:01:54 | 0:01:56
still getting up to about 20 degrees in London. | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
That cloudier weather will probably push | 0:01:59 | 0:02:02
further northwards as we go into Saturday, | 0:02:02 | 0:02:05
so temporarily drying out, just about, | 0:02:05 | 0:02:07
in the south, and then this weather front, | 0:02:07 | 0:02:09
with fresher air, will push its way | 0:02:09 | 0:02:11
in the direction of the UK for Sunday. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:13
This is the weather front | 0:02:13 | 0:02:15
that's going to bring a little rain, | 0:02:15 | 0:02:17
some showers in the afternoon, | 0:02:17 | 0:02:19
but fresher Atlantic air, | 0:02:19 | 0:02:21
so it won't be quite so humid. | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
Temperatures won't be much different, | 0:02:23 | 0:02:26
15 to 20 degrees, | 0:02:26 | 0:02:28
but it won't be quite as close. | 0:02:28 | 0:02:30
That's Sunday's forecast. | 0:02:30 | 0:02:32
How about into next week? | 0:02:32 | 0:02:34
What we're looking at is a daisy chain of low pressures | 0:02:34 | 0:02:37
approaching the UK, and this is a weather front | 0:02:37 | 0:02:40
scooping up moisture from the south | 0:02:40 | 0:02:43
and sending some pretty heavy rain | 0:02:43 | 0:02:45
into western parts of the UK. | 0:02:45 | 0:02:47
With these low pressures in the North Atlantic, | 0:02:47 | 0:02:50
that moisture and those winds | 0:02:50 | 0:02:52
will be coming in from the southwest | 0:02:52 | 0:02:55
and with that, a potential | 0:02:55 | 0:02:57
for a surge of real warmth | 0:02:57 | 0:02:58
heading our way, | 0:02:58 | 0:03:00
particularly to south-eastern parts. | 0:03:00 | 0:03:02
It could even warm up to 25 degrees | 0:03:02 | 0:03:04
between Monday and Wednesday. | 0:03:04 | 0:03:06
It's not a guarantee though. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:08
More western and north-western parts | 0:03:08 | 0:03:10
are likely to hang onto cooler, | 0:03:10 | 0:03:12
cloudier conditions | 0:03:12 | 0:03:14
and some outbreaks of rain, at least from time to time. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:16
So here's the summary for next week. | 0:03:16 | 0:03:18
It looks like a warm start with a bit of rain in north-western areas, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:22
and much fresher conditions. | 0:03:22 | 0:03:24
Then it'll probably cool off | 0:03:24 | 0:03:25
towards the end of the week. | 0:03:25 | 0:03:27
Thanks for watching. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:29 |
