Hello there. Friday afternoon and East Anglia

0:00:020:00:04

and the south-east was really quite warm air and humid

0:00:040:00:06

and it sparked off some thunderstorms,

0:00:060:00:08

those clearing away into the near continent overnight.

0:00:080:00:11

Then we're looking out to the Atlantic,

0:00:110:00:13

that's where our weather will be coming from the next few days.

0:00:130:00:15

That Atlantic airstream will eventually bring that fresher air

0:00:150:00:18

in to all parts of the UK.

0:00:180:00:20

Through the weekend there should be some good opportunities for

0:00:200:00:22

getting out and about with some good spells of sunshine,

0:00:220:00:25

but also some showers in the forecast.

0:00:250:00:26

But make the most of the drier spells through the weekend

0:00:260:00:29

because Monday looks like it'll be turning pretty wet and pretty windy.

0:00:290:00:32

Any early showers in the north-east of England clear out

0:00:320:00:34

into the North Sea, then it brightens up quite nicely.

0:00:340:00:36

Good spells of sunshine for central and eastern areas,

0:00:360:00:38

the odd shower for Wales, the south-west of England,

0:00:380:00:40

but most of the showers Saturday afternoon will be in

0:00:400:00:43

Northern Ireland and in Scotland,

0:00:430:00:44

maybe even the odd rumble of thunder.

0:00:440:00:46

17 or 18 degrees for Glasgow and Belfast,

0:00:460:00:48

21 or 22 degrees in the London area with much lower humidity

0:00:480:00:52

than we've seen in recent days. Should feel a good deal fresher.

0:00:520:00:56

And we keep that westerly airstream coming in for the second part

0:00:560:00:58

of the weekend, and I think you'll notice that fresher feel even more

0:00:580:01:02

because temperatures will be down by just a notch or two

0:01:020:01:04

in comparison with Saturday, but still a decent day for many areas.

0:01:040:01:07

Again, Scotland, Northern Ireland will see the bulk of the showers,

0:01:070:01:10

the odd one for parts of Wales and the south-west of England,

0:01:100:01:12

elsewhere it's largely dry.

0:01:120:01:14

Top temperatures on Sunday around about 19 or 20 degrees.

0:01:140:01:17

Now, make the most of the weekend because as we get on into Monday

0:01:170:01:21

things are going downhill, turning really quite wet and quite windy.

0:01:210:01:24

Here's the chart for Monday.

0:01:240:01:26

Quite a deep area of low pressure for early June,

0:01:260:01:29

very tightly-packed isobars,

0:01:290:01:31

so some really strong winds are expected - we're looking at gales

0:01:310:01:34

or even severe gales and you can see the extent of the rain,

0:01:340:01:37

how it covers large swathes of the UK.

0:01:370:01:39

So not a great day, really, on Monday.

0:01:390:01:41

Although many eastern areas will actually start on a dry and

0:01:410:01:44

bright note, clouds over pretty quickly and the rain soon follows.

0:01:440:01:47

It'll be a pretty miserable day if you've got some travelling plans

0:01:470:01:50

and underneath that rain it'll feel on the cool side as well.

0:01:500:01:54

And then on Monday night and on into Tuesday,

0:01:540:01:56

that low pressure system takes its wind and its rain with it.

0:01:560:01:59

It'll be a slow process but it will eventually clear out of the way.

0:01:590:02:02

It allows this north-westerly breeze to come in on Tuesday, so it's still

0:02:020:02:06

quite a breezy day and there will still be some showers dotted around.

0:02:060:02:09

And temperatures, well, it's the middle teens for many places,

0:02:090:02:12

might just about get into the upper teens in the south-eastern corner.

0:02:120:02:15

As we head on to the middle of the week,

0:02:150:02:16

we've got high pressure across the south of the UK,

0:02:160:02:18

low pressure towards the west and the north of the UK.

0:02:180:02:20

Quite a few isobars on the chart and this little weather system

0:02:200:02:23

moving its way through, so I think the southern half of the UK

0:02:230:02:26

will be fairly cloudy with some rain moving through.

0:02:260:02:28

The further north you are, it's largely dry,

0:02:280:02:30

but you might run into a few showers there in northern Scotland.

0:02:300:02:33

And again, it's the middle teens to the upper teens,

0:02:330:02:35

maybe the low 20s for some.

0:02:350:02:38

Then later next week, we've still got high pressure across

0:02:380:02:40

the near continent and low pressure to the north and west of us,

0:02:400:02:43

but notice how the isobars turn around to more of

0:02:430:02:45

a southerly direction,

0:02:450:02:47

and that is going to start to pull in some much warmer air.

0:02:470:02:49

So as we head on into Thursday, Friday,

0:02:490:02:52

we start to see that warm air pushing its way

0:02:520:02:54

quite a long way north across the UK,

0:02:540:02:56

so those temperatures will be rebounding back once again

0:02:560:02:59

and that warmer air gets all the way up into the north and

0:02:590:03:01

north-east of Scotland.

0:03:010:03:03

Now, as we look ahead towards next weekend,

0:03:030:03:06

we're looking out into the Atlantic for an area of low pressure.

0:03:060:03:08

The question is, which direction is it heading in?

0:03:080:03:11

It may well go towards the north-west but there's a chance that

0:03:110:03:14

it could slip a bit further south towards southern parts of the UK.

0:03:140:03:17

Either way, next weekend,

0:03:170:03:18

we are looking at spells of wind and rain coming in from the Atlantic.

0:03:180:03:21

It's going to feel quite fresh in the north and west of the UK,

0:03:210:03:24

but hopefully still hanging on to

0:03:240:03:25

a little bit of warmth in the south-east. Bye for now.
