Hello, there. Low pressure was the driving force behind our weather for the start of the weekend.

0:00:020:00:05

A fair bit of cloud, rain for many, but not the south east,

0:00:050:00:08

it was fine, sunny, and quite warm.

0:00:080:00:09

But that weather front, overnight, will drift its way towards

0:00:090:00:12

the south east, bringing cloud and maybe a spot or two of rain.

0:00:120:00:15

But low pressure really is the driving force of our weather

0:00:150:00:18

for the second part of the weekend as well.

0:00:180:00:20

Quite a few isobars on the chart.

0:00:200:00:22

That means it is going to be quite a breezy day, strongest winds

0:00:220:00:24

always across the north and the west of the UK.

0:00:240:00:27

And that is where you will find most of the showers.

0:00:270:00:29

Scattered showers, really, for the western side of England and Wales.

0:00:290:00:32

The showers will be a bit more frequent in Scotland

0:00:320:00:34

and in Northern Ireland, too.

0:00:340:00:36

A slice of sunshine down through the Midlands,

0:00:360:00:38

but some parts of East Anglia, the far south east, it will be

0:00:380:00:40

fairly cloudy with a little bit of light rain and drizzle on and off.

0:00:400:00:43

Not quite as warm as today but still into the low 20s in the

0:00:430:00:45

south-eastern corner, and 16, 17, or 18 for Glasgow and Belfast.

0:00:450:00:49

Into the evening,

0:00:490:00:50

we've still got showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:00:500:00:53

One or two in the western side of England and Wales.

0:00:530:00:55

The further east you go, it's essentially a fine and dry story,

0:00:550:00:58

and by dawn on Monday,

0:00:580:01:00

temperatures will be down to roundabout 12 or 13 degrees,

0:01:000:01:03

maybe just a little bit lower than that as you head up towards

0:01:030:01:06

the northern isles but even here, we are staying with double figures.

0:01:060:01:09

Now, Monday itself, I think we've still got some showers forecast,

0:01:090:01:13

mainly in the north-western quadrant of the UK.

0:01:130:01:15

One or two cropping up further south, but generally,

0:01:150:01:17

I think it's largely dry here.

0:01:170:01:19

Not particularly windy the further south you happen to be but

0:01:190:01:22

there will be some strong winds for a time in southern Scotland,

0:01:220:01:25

down in the central lowlands in particular,

0:01:250:01:27

and temperatures down by a notch or two again, roundabout 19 or 20

0:01:270:01:29

degrees in the south-eastern corner, 14, 15, or 16 for Glasgow,

0:01:290:01:33

and in Belfast.

0:01:330:01:35

Now, to get on into Tuesday,

0:01:350:01:37

we see pressure trying to build from the south,

0:01:370:01:39

but equally we've got these weak weather fronts

0:01:390:01:41

just grazing their way by the north west of the UK

0:01:410:01:44

so we will see some thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain.

0:01:440:01:46

Moving away from Northern Ireland and pushing into central Scotland,

0:01:460:01:49

the bulk of England and Wales looks like it will have

0:01:490:01:51

a pretty decent day, light winds, patchy cloud, some sunshine,

0:01:510:01:53

and temperatures in the upper teens or the low 20s quite widely.

0:01:530:01:57

Maybe down to about 15 or so in the north of Scotland.

0:01:570:02:00

Then, as you head on into Wednesday, pressure still building from

0:02:000:02:04

the south, but equally we've still got these weak weather fronts

0:02:040:02:06

just going around the top of that high,

0:02:060:02:08

bringing again a bit of a breeze towards the north west of the UK

0:02:080:02:11

and some cloud and outbreaks of rain as well.

0:02:110:02:13

But again on Wednesday, England and Wales,

0:02:130:02:16

it looks like it will be another pretty decent day.

0:02:160:02:18

Patchy clouds, sunny spells, light winds as well,

0:02:180:02:20

and that bit warmer, 25 degrees or so in the south east.

0:02:200:02:23

In the low 20s quite widely.

0:02:230:02:25

Even in Scotland, Northern Ireland, it's the upper teens.

0:02:250:02:27

Now, as we look further afield, we have to think about the upper

0:02:270:02:30

atmosphere and what is happening with the jet stream.

0:02:300:02:33

Potential developments in the United States have implications

0:02:330:02:35

further downstream for us, but at the moment

0:02:350:02:38

it looks like the jet stream, as it makes it way across

0:02:380:02:40

the Atlantic, will be flattening out to some degree.

0:02:400:02:43

It will still be picking up some areas of low pressure and

0:02:430:02:45

pushing them towards us but at the moment, as we look towards the

0:02:450:02:48

latter part of next week, this is what the overall setup looks like.

0:02:480:02:52

High pressure to the south of the UK should keep things fairly quiet

0:02:520:02:56

but we've got low pressure not too far from the north and west,

0:02:560:02:58

so that means a higher chance of seeing cloud and outbreaks of rain.

0:02:580:03:01

It looks like that low will get nearer as we head towards

0:03:010:03:04

next weekend, but equally that high builds in across the southern

0:03:040:03:07

half of the UK, and that will bring fine and settled weather with it.

0:03:070:03:10

Winds goes clockwise around that high,

0:03:100:03:12

that will be bringing some pretty warm air up from the south,

0:03:120:03:15

but next weekend, yes, we are looking at rain at times,

0:03:150:03:17

in the north and west of the UK, it will be quite breezy as well.

0:03:170:03:20

Elsewhere, it should become mostly dry, and as I said,

0:03:200:03:22

we've got those southerly winds coming around that high

0:03:220:03:25

and that's going to warm things up quite nicely.
