We know we Brits love to talk about the weather.

0:00:020:00:04

Two types in particular.

0:00:040:00:05

One is snow and the other is summer heat.

0:00:050:00:07

There isn't any snow in this forecast. That would get us talking.

0:00:070:00:10

But there is summer heat.

0:00:100:00:12

It is coming back around this area of low pressure,

0:00:120:00:15

stuck close to northern Spain.

0:00:150:00:16

We are dragging the flow of air around that.

0:00:160:00:19

Some much warmer, more humid air up across the UK

0:00:190:00:21

over the next couple of days.

0:00:210:00:23

And whilst all parts will be warming up,

0:00:230:00:25

it's England and Wales that will see the highest temperatures,

0:00:250:00:28

mid to upper 20s.

0:00:280:00:29

And particularly southern England bearing the brunt,

0:00:290:00:31

because not everybody likes it,

0:00:310:00:33

with temperatures at around 30 Celsius

0:00:330:00:35

and some very warm and muggy nights to come.

0:00:350:00:37

Now, that process is underway, then, during Wednesday,

0:00:370:00:40

helped by more sunshine across southern England and South Wales.

0:00:400:00:44

Sunny spells, too, in northern Scotland.

0:00:440:00:46

Abbeymore could see 20 Celsius.

0:00:460:00:47

But south-east Scotland to north-east England

0:00:470:00:50

staying rather cloudy,

0:00:500:00:51

still perhaps a little bit of light rain or drizzle

0:00:510:00:54

and temperatures just at around 15 Celsius.

0:00:540:00:56

So there are big temperature contrasts around during Wednesday.

0:00:560:00:59

Where you have the heat on Wednesday,

0:00:590:01:01

it will be a very warm and muggy night on Wednesday night.

0:01:010:01:04

And this weather disturbance, this area of low pressure,

0:01:040:01:06

pushes northwards into the UK during Thursday.

0:01:060:01:09

So the heat and humidity is still here.

0:01:090:01:11

Some early rain in Scotland clearing away.

0:01:110:01:13

But it's parts of Wales,

0:01:130:01:14

especially east Wales and into England that,

0:01:140:01:16

along with that heat and humidity,

0:01:160:01:18

could see some torrential thunderstorms breaking out.

0:01:180:01:21

As ever, very hit and miss.

0:01:210:01:22

By no means everybody will catch one.

0:01:220:01:24

If you do, you could well know about it. There could be some disruption.

0:01:240:01:27

But into the 20s in Scotland, compared with Wednesday.

0:01:270:01:30

But again, the hotspots in southern England near 30 Celsius.

0:01:300:01:34

That weather disturbance moving away during Friday,

0:01:340:01:37

but still with a lot of heat left behind that

0:01:370:01:39

and particularly in south-east England,

0:01:390:01:42

again at around 30 Celsius.

0:01:420:01:43

A chance it might be even a little bit higher than that.

0:01:430:01:46

It is cooler the further north you are,

0:01:460:01:48

but still feeling quite warm and muggy.

0:01:480:01:50

But then there is a weather system coming in

0:01:500:01:53

at the start of the weekend.

0:01:530:01:54

This area of low pressure driving this cold front southwards

0:01:540:01:57

and that's a game-changer for the weekend,

0:01:570:01:59

as it turns cooler and fresher from the north-west.

0:01:590:02:02

Now, along that weather front,

0:02:020:02:03

by the time it reaches into England and Wales,

0:02:030:02:05

probably just a few showers.

0:02:050:02:06

And on Saturday, not reaching East Anglia and south-east England yet,

0:02:060:02:09

so still warmth and humidity.

0:02:090:02:11

Where as elsewhere, temperatures down into the teens.

0:02:110:02:14

And on Sunday, that weather front has now moved through,

0:02:140:02:17

so we're all cooler and fresher.

0:02:170:02:19

Another one is coming in towards the north-west.

0:02:190:02:21

Some uncertainty about timing on this one.

0:02:210:02:23

But again, parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern England

0:02:230:02:26

at risk of seeing some outbreaks of rain and quite breezy conditions.

0:02:260:02:29

It looks mainly dry for the rest of the UK towards the south-east.

0:02:290:02:32

But notice those temperatures have come down.

0:02:320:02:34

And that takes us on to next week, which is looking fairly changeable.

0:02:340:02:38

At times, a little bulge from the Azores high

0:02:380:02:40

will try and come in and settle things down.

0:02:400:02:42

But in other days, there'll be low pressure

0:02:420:02:44

brushing the north-west of the UK, pushing weather fronts southwards,

0:02:440:02:47

taking some outbreaks of rain and picking up the wind.

0:02:470:02:50

As the low pressure pulls away, the Azores high builds back in again

0:02:500:02:53

to settle things down,

0:02:530:02:54

more noticeably across southern parts of the UK.

0:02:540:02:57

So it is up and down next week.

0:02:570:02:59

The sort of weather you get

0:02:590:03:01

depends on how close you are to the weather systems.

0:03:010:03:03

The closer to that low pressure

0:03:030:03:05

towards the north and north-west of the UK,

0:03:050:03:07

parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England,

0:03:070:03:09

will see the wetter, windier conditions at times.

0:03:090:03:11

Although weather fronts will push right the way across the UK,

0:03:110:03:14

it will be drier and warmer towards the south-east,

0:03:140:03:16

compared with the rest of the UK,

0:03:160:03:18

though not as hot as it will be over the next two days.

0:03:180:03:21

In fact, next week is looking really quite climatological,

0:03:210:03:23

quite average.

0:03:230:03:25

And average weather doesn't happen very often in the UK.

0:03:250:03:27

That's another talking point.
