Hello, thanks for joining me.

0:00:020:00:03

Time we updated you on how we feel the week is going to unfold,

0:00:030:00:06

and then we'll just push it that little bit further into next week,

0:00:060:00:09

just to see what's in store.

0:00:090:00:12

Thursday had plenty of weather in store -

0:00:120:00:14

32 degrees at Heathrow,

0:00:140:00:16

nothing like it underneath the blanket of cloud

0:00:160:00:19

further north,

0:00:190:00:20

and in the midst of all of this,

0:00:200:00:22

we had torrential downpours,

0:00:220:00:23

initially across East Anglia,

0:00:230:00:25

but, later in the day,

0:00:250:00:26

they really began to brew up

0:00:260:00:28

across the Pennines and across Yorkshire.

0:00:280:00:30

Underneath those clear skies in the south,

0:00:300:00:33

glorious fare, there,

0:00:330:00:34

quite widely across the southern half

0:00:340:00:35

of England and Wales.

0:00:350:00:36

Closer to the weather front

0:00:360:00:38

and that 14 degrees across the north-west,

0:00:380:00:40

well, the cloud was pretty leaden

0:00:400:00:42

and there was rain at times -

0:00:420:00:43

and we're not quite done

0:00:430:00:45

with that sort of scenario just yet,

0:00:450:00:46

because a new day brings a new weather front

0:00:460:00:49

in from the Atlantic,

0:00:490:00:50

pushing the prospect of cloud

0:00:500:00:52

and the odd bit and piece of rain

0:00:520:00:53

across Scotland,

0:00:530:00:55

having perhaps affected Northern Ireland overnight.

0:00:550:00:57

Get on through Friday and the cloud,

0:00:570:00:59

from a weakening weather front,

0:00:590:01:00

just pushes its way

0:01:000:01:01

into the heart of the British Isles -

0:01:010:01:03

but it doesn't stop the temperatures

0:01:030:01:05

again pushing towards 27, 28,

0:01:050:01:06

at least in the south.

0:01:060:01:07

A cooler day underneath that blanket of cloud

0:01:070:01:09

across the north of England

0:01:090:01:11

than was the case on Thursday,

0:01:110:01:12

and that blanket of cloud

0:01:120:01:14

really begins to thicken up

0:01:140:01:15

as we get through Friday night into Saturday.

0:01:150:01:18

This is disappointing fare for July,

0:01:180:01:21

no doubt about it.

0:01:210:01:22

A dank start to the day,

0:01:220:01:23

perhaps the rain just beginning to ease a touch

0:01:230:01:26

on into the afternoon,

0:01:260:01:27

but signs of another weather front

0:01:270:01:29

just beginning to push its way

0:01:290:01:31

towards the north-western quarter of Scotland.

0:01:310:01:34

So, Saturday into Sunday,

0:01:340:01:35

and we're caught betwixt and between.

0:01:350:01:37

Quite a vigorous area of low pressure

0:01:370:01:39

throwing the prospect of thunderstorms

0:01:390:01:41

across a good part of France,

0:01:410:01:43

maybe into the Channel area.

0:01:430:01:44

One or two showers just breaking out

0:01:440:01:46

a little bit further north than that,

0:01:460:01:48

and all the while, that weather front trying to come in

0:01:480:01:50

towards the north-west of Scotland -

0:01:500:01:52

but there will be a zone through Northern Ireland,

0:01:520:01:54

the south of Scotland and northern England

0:01:540:01:56

where we will see somewhat drier conditions.

0:01:560:01:58

That area of low pressure

0:01:580:01:59

thankfully takes much of its activity

0:01:590:02:02

up through the North Sea

0:02:020:02:03

during the course of Monday,

0:02:030:02:04

but there's no getting away from the fact

0:02:040:02:06

that the cloud will be thick enough

0:02:060:02:08

for there to be the odd showery burst,

0:02:080:02:09

on what will be a cooler feel to the week,

0:02:090:02:12

given that the breezes

0:02:120:02:13

will be coming in from the north and north-west.

0:02:130:02:15

Initially, the wind quite a factor on the east coast,

0:02:150:02:17

but as we move out of Monday into Tuesday,

0:02:170:02:20

so this area of high pressure

0:02:200:02:21

just topples its way across the British Isles -

0:02:210:02:24

but out in the Atlantic,

0:02:240:02:25

we see the first signs of a battle

0:02:250:02:27

between low pressure to the north,

0:02:270:02:29

high pressure to the south.

0:02:290:02:31

Tuesday, it's the calm before the storm,

0:02:310:02:34

because as we get towards

0:02:340:02:35

the middle part of the week,

0:02:350:02:37

the high pressure will have lost out,

0:02:370:02:39

at least for a time.

0:02:390:02:40

The low pressure,

0:02:400:02:41

away towards the north-west of the British Isles,

0:02:410:02:43

will be throwing weather fronts

0:02:430:02:45

across all parts, pretty much.

0:02:450:02:47

The lows certainly dominant

0:02:470:02:48

in that middle part of the week.

0:02:480:02:50

There will be rain for many.

0:02:500:02:51

Disappointing, as I say.

0:02:510:02:53

Cool and windy for all parts of the British Isles -

0:02:530:02:56

but, as I say, it's a battle,

0:02:560:02:58

and there have to be winners and losers,

0:02:580:03:00

and, for a time, albeit briefly,

0:03:000:03:02

later in the week,

0:03:020:03:03

we will see that high pressure

0:03:030:03:04

trying to nose its way back in,

0:03:040:03:06

pushing the low pressure away from the British Isles

0:03:060:03:09

and, in this scenario,

0:03:090:03:10

albeit rather temporary,

0:03:100:03:12

then the high will win out,

0:03:120:03:14

at least for a time, later next week,

0:03:140:03:17

so, we may well see

0:03:170:03:18

somewhat drier and brighter conditions,

0:03:180:03:20

and it may well feel,

0:03:200:03:21

given the absence of the cloud

0:03:210:03:22

and a wee bit more sunshine,

0:03:220:03:24

just a little bit warmer -

0:03:240:03:26

but I warn you,

0:03:260:03:27

it will only be a temporary improvement.
