Hello once again. It's time we updated you

0:00:020:00:04

on what we expect to see right across the British Isles

0:00:040:00:06

for this weekend, then we'll look in some detail at the first half

0:00:060:00:09

of the forthcoming week,

0:00:090:00:10

and we'll try and give you a flavour

0:00:100:00:11

of what's to come

0:00:110:00:12

as we get towards next weekend.

0:00:120:00:15

So far today,

0:00:150:00:16

the country's been somewhat split

0:00:160:00:18

by this weather front

0:00:180:00:19

which produced an awful lot of cloud across Scotland for a time.

0:00:190:00:22

The odd bit and piece of rain getting across the border

0:00:220:00:25

into the north of England too.

0:00:250:00:26

It didn't do much for the temperatures.

0:00:260:00:28

Further south, that poor old bee, yet again,

0:00:280:00:31

as has been the case quite often this week,

0:00:310:00:33

was labouring in temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius,

0:00:330:00:36

close by to Heathrow, that is.

0:00:360:00:38

The forthcoming weekend, well, if the heat hasn't been your thing,

0:00:380:00:41

if indeed you've seen the heat, it will feel fresher.

0:00:410:00:44

There is some sunshine in the forecast.

0:00:440:00:46

There's a shower if not a longer spell of rain

0:00:460:00:48

to be had as we get on into Sunday.

0:00:480:00:50

The front that produced all that cloud

0:00:500:00:52

across Scotland for a time,

0:00:520:00:53

Northern Ireland too,

0:00:530:00:54

will gradually slump its way,

0:00:540:00:56

into the first part of Saturday,

0:00:560:00:57

ever further south,

0:00:570:00:58

really clouding things up.

0:00:580:01:00

A good deal more perhaps than we've seen of late.

0:01:000:01:02

It still has enough about it to be producing

0:01:020:01:04

the odd bit and piece of rain.

0:01:040:01:06

Especially so in the first part of the day

0:01:060:01:07

across the southern half of both England and Wales,

0:01:070:01:10

out towards the west.

0:01:100:01:11

One or two of those spots could creep further east.

0:01:110:01:14

Still the temperature around 24,

0:01:140:01:16

possibly 25 in the southeast,

0:01:160:01:18

just that wee bit fresher,

0:01:180:01:19

but not unseasonably so further north.

0:01:190:01:22

Then as that feature dies a death across the south,

0:01:220:01:24

there's a band of cloud.

0:01:240:01:26

We bring another set of fronts in

0:01:260:01:27

towards the southern half of Scotland

0:01:270:01:29

through Northern Ireland. A dank old day here.

0:01:290:01:32

Further south, a lot of dry weather around.

0:01:320:01:34

Still warm in the southeast

0:01:340:01:36

with just one or two isolated showers.

0:01:360:01:39

From Sunday on into Monday,

0:01:390:01:41

we've got weather fronts close by.

0:01:410:01:43

It may well be developments in the upper atmosphere

0:01:430:01:45

that, come the middle of the day

0:01:450:01:47

and indeed on into the afternoon,

0:01:470:01:49

really begin to spark off quite a number of showers.

0:01:490:01:53

A fresher feel across the piste here,

0:01:530:01:55

especially so in that southeastern quarter

0:01:550:01:58

where the top temperature will be closer to 22 or 23,

0:01:580:02:00

rather than 29 or 30.

0:02:000:02:02

Tuesday sees a random lump of cloud

0:02:020:02:04

not really tied in with any feature

0:02:040:02:06

that we can discern just at the moment.

0:02:060:02:08

But it could generate quite a bit of shower activity,

0:02:080:02:11

if not the odd longer spell of rain.

0:02:110:02:13

Another more organised low pressure drags rain, we suspect,

0:02:130:02:16

very close by to the southwest of England.

0:02:160:02:19

That's something of a neat call at the moment,

0:02:190:02:21

but that's the way it's looking just now.

0:02:210:02:23

Then, if you happen to be on holiday,

0:02:230:02:25

or whether you're not,

0:02:250:02:26

you've got that little ridge of high pressure building,

0:02:260:02:29

tending to kill off many of the showers.

0:02:290:02:31

The temperatures, for the most part,

0:02:310:02:33

pretty close to what we would expect

0:02:330:02:35

at this time of year.

0:02:350:02:37

So into the middle part of the week,

0:02:370:02:38

things beginning to calm down,

0:02:380:02:40

having seen those islands of cloud

0:02:400:02:42

bringing that rather unsettled fare.

0:02:420:02:44

But as we get on into the second half

0:02:440:02:46

of the forthcoming week,

0:02:460:02:48

there'll be the juxtaposition of low pressure

0:02:480:02:50

close by to the northern half of the British Isles,

0:02:500:02:52

high pressure in the south.

0:02:520:02:54

Occasionally the high will win out

0:02:540:02:57

and push the low pressure further away.

0:02:570:02:59

So a better chance of seeing

0:02:590:03:00

somewhat drier, finer conditions

0:03:000:03:02

for the greater part of the British Isles.

0:03:020:03:04

But nothing hangs around

0:03:040:03:05

for very long at all

0:03:050:03:06

because, before you know it,

0:03:060:03:08

that area of high pressure

0:03:080:03:09

slips away a little bit further

0:03:090:03:10

towards the southwest,

0:03:100:03:12

allowing another area of low pressure

0:03:120:03:14

to trundle in close by to the northern half of the British Isles,

0:03:140:03:17

so we get that juxtaposition of the high and the low,

0:03:170:03:20

bringing - at times - some rain.

0:03:200:03:22

Breezy for the most part,

0:03:220:03:24

but generally much fresher

0:03:240:03:26

in the south than we've seen of late.

0:03:260:03:28

Enjoy your weekend.
