Hello. If you put in an order for fine weekend weather,

0:00:030:00:06

so far so good. Saturday was dry for the bulk of the UK,

0:00:060:00:09

delivered some pleasant sunshine, as well, from the Isle of Wight,

0:00:090:00:13

as you can see from this Weather Watcher picture,

0:00:130:00:15

into much of Scotland, as you can see from St Andrews.

0:00:150:00:18

I say "much of Scotland" because not everywhere had the sunshine.

0:00:180:00:22

We have a weather system just fringing the very far

0:00:220:00:25

north of Scotland, and during Saturday for the Western Isles then

0:00:250:00:28

the Northern Isles, the far north of the mainland,

0:00:280:00:30

that did deliver a bit of rain.

0:00:300:00:32

And for part two of the weekend, during Sunday, that is

0:00:320:00:35

edging a little bit further south across Scotland

0:00:350:00:37

and eventually taking that rain into Northern Ireland,

0:00:370:00:40

which had a lovely Saturday. So not quite as spectacular for Sunday.

0:00:400:00:45

And for England and Wales there'll be a bit more cloud around,

0:00:450:00:48

the chance for one or two showers, and perhaps for eastern

0:00:480:00:51

England into the afternoon

0:00:510:00:52

and evening the odd heavy one with maybe a rumble of thunder.

0:00:520:00:55

Outbreaks of rain pushing south across Scotland.

0:00:550:00:57

That means through the central belt, too, then into Northern Ireland.

0:00:570:01:00

That will hold the temperature down into the mid-teens,

0:01:000:01:02

where you have some of that.

0:01:020:01:04

But still some heat, maybe as high as 29 Celsius,

0:01:040:01:07

and humid, too, in parts of south-east England.

0:01:070:01:09

But it is the last day of heat like that, because this weather

0:01:090:01:13

system is moving south across the UK during Monday.

0:01:130:01:16

There's still another push of fresher air to follow with that.

0:01:160:01:19

And there'll be showers around -

0:01:190:01:21

nothing more than that - on this weather system sinking its way

0:01:210:01:23

southwards, so some rain Sunday night in northern England

0:01:230:01:26

and then showers developing elsewhere during Monday,

0:01:260:01:29

sunshine and showers, and it will be a little bit cooler,

0:01:290:01:32

temperatures into the teens for most of us

0:01:320:01:35

and cooler compared with the weekend, too, in south-east England

0:01:350:01:37

but still pleasant when you're in some sunshine.

0:01:370:01:40

There'll be showers around again during Tuesday,

0:01:400:01:42

but then we're watching this weather system as it targets

0:01:420:01:45

the southern half of the UK later on Tuesday into Tuesday night

0:01:450:01:49

not just with showers but some rain.

0:01:490:01:52

But then again, it has been so dry and very warm for some here,

0:01:520:01:54

you may appreciate a shot of rain on the garden through

0:01:540:01:57

parts of England and Wales, especially the further south

0:01:570:02:00

you are, as we go on though Tuesday afternoon and into Tuesday night,

0:02:000:02:03

potentially quite heavy for a time in south-east England

0:02:030:02:05

before, as we go into Wednesday, that pulls away, clears away,

0:02:050:02:09

and heads off into Continental Europe.

0:02:090:02:11

And then for Wednesday we're in a gap between weather systems,

0:02:110:02:14

this little ridge of high pressure moving in.

0:02:140:02:16

So Wednesday's one of the better days

0:02:160:02:18

if you like fine weather as we go through this week.

0:02:180:02:20

There'll be a mixture of cloud, sunshine,

0:02:200:02:23

the odd light shower breaking out - most places will be dry -

0:02:230:02:25

and temperatures fairly close to average for the time of year,

0:02:250:02:28

maybe a little bit cooler in some spots,

0:02:280:02:30

but then again there will be some sunny spells around.

0:02:300:02:33

The gap between weather systems is very brief, though.

0:02:330:02:35

By Thursday, we have another one coming.

0:02:350:02:37

Notice how far north of the UK the area of low pressure is.

0:02:370:02:40

But it's around that we have these weather fronts draped,

0:02:400:02:42

and they dump most of their moisture towards the north-west.

0:02:420:02:45

And as they move south, they turn showery,

0:02:450:02:47

and they're not going to reach much of southern and eastern parts

0:02:470:02:49

of the UK until Thursday night, so until then a fine Thursday.

0:02:490:02:54

Another gap between weather systems,

0:02:540:02:56

another ridge of high pressure on Friday,

0:02:560:02:58

but we have another area of low pressure

0:02:580:03:00

and some rain to move through as we go into the start of the weekend.

0:03:000:03:03

And by then, the breeze will be picking up, as well.

0:03:030:03:05

And it's all part and parcel of what is a changeable weather

0:03:050:03:08

pattern for next weekend, even into the start of the following week,

0:03:080:03:11

so occasionally you get a ridge of high pressure and it's fine,

0:03:110:03:14

you get some sunshine, occasionally you get some wet weather

0:03:140:03:17

moving through courtesy of low pressure.

0:03:170:03:19

It looks a breezier affair next weekend, though,

0:03:190:03:22

and although relatively warm at times across parts of

0:03:220:03:24

south-east England, for much of the UK it is looking on the cool side.

0:03:240:03:28

And that's your latest weather for the week ahead.
