10/07/2017 Weather for the Week Ahead

Hello.

Heat has been one of the main talking points

of our summer weather so far.

Not so much this week, no heat waves in the forecast.

I hope you made the most of the warm, sunny spells that

some of us enjoyed over the weekend.

Certainly into England and Wales, temperatures widely

into the low to mid 20s.

Upper 20s still for some.

Scotland and Northern Ireland, there was a weather front close by,

so certainly into Sunday there was cloud and rain,

and that's edging its way southwards during Monday,

taking cooler and fresher air with it.

It is one of a number of weather systems coming our way

as we go through this week.

It will be a week of changeable weather on the way.

Atlantic-driven weather, so cooler and fresher.

Some days wetter, some days better, but a cooling trend

and turning breezy as well later in the week.

The cooler weather most noticeable

where it has been so very warm of late.

So we have a weather system

working southwards across the UK during Monday,

but it is just becoming showers really.

So sunshine and showers almost across the board.

But for parts of East Anglia and south-east England

there could be some heavy and thundery downpours,

giving a lot of rain in a short space of time.

Still with some warmth and humidity to be found here for one more day

before things cool down a bit as we go into Tuesday.

In fact, going into Tuesday,

we have got this little weather disturbance to move through

so it looks like bringing another batch of showers

especially across parts of England and Wales during Tuesday.

They may merge to give some longer spells of rain,

and with plenty of cloud as well, the sunshine hard to come by,

and it will of course feel cooler.

But for northern England, Scotland, Northern Ireland on Tuesday,

it is sunshine and scattered showers.

Notice another weather system coming towards the south-west of the UK

later on Tuesday, spreading in some rain here rather than showers.

You may want something if your garden is looking dry.

I have to say, word of caution, still some uncertainty about exactly

what this area of low pressure will do on Tuesday night

into Wednesday morning.

How far north or south it is going to go so don't bank

on that rain getting to your garden across South Wales southern England,

for example, just yet.

Just keep checking the forecast.

During Wednesday, what rain there is will pull away and we're

left with a gap between weather systems on Wednesday.

So many of us will be dry, there will be some sunny spells,

and although temperatures have come down, high teens to low 20s,

it still feels very pleasant in that sunshine

underneath a ridge of high pressure.

But then as we go through Thursday, low pressure,

though it is well to the north of the UK,

there is a weather front draped around it,

and that comes back across us so it will spread some showers,

again from west to east across the UK.

Some sunny spells in between any of those as well.

So nothing particularly wet.

Although if you catch a shower, it could be heavy and possibly

thundery and high teens to low 20s.

Looks like, as we go into Friday, behind that weather system,

although there is a gap again, the isobars are close together,

the breeze is picking up and again this is Atlantic air coming in,

so it is cooler and fresher air heading our way.

So it is a breezier picture, a largely dry picture with high

pressure for Friday but there could be a few showers perhaps

across central parts of the UK.

And we take you on to another weekend,

and it looks again like this changeable weather

is going to continue.

We've got another weather system working through during next weekend.

The isobars again fairly close together.

So a breezier, windier picture.

But likely seeing another gap between weather systems

as we go to part two of the weekend on Sunday.

And it doesn't look like a great change

going into the following week.

So there will be weather systems moving through,

then gaps in between.

So changeable, some days sunnier, other days wetter.

A breezier picture and quite a cool picture as well.

Temperatures quite close to average, perhaps even a little bit below.

So summer heat has been a talking point.

The lack of some heat may be a talking point next week.
